Forest in the Light, Forest in the Darkness by Marauder

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: On the night the unicorn is slain, Firenze and Bane both wish for a change within the other. Firenze/Bane.

Date: 12/27/04 Title: Chapter 1: Forest in the Light, Forest in the Darkness

I thought it well written ... if a bit plotless. Was it a one-shot? It reads like a prelude to something bigger.

Swapping with Snape by Loz

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Thanks to an ingenious plan of Dumbledore's, Severus Snape and Harry Potter swap bodies. They're doing this to fight Voldemort.

Dumbledore says it's the only way Harry can survive. But can Snape get over the trials and tribulations of being a teenager again, and can Harry battle unruly Potions students and greasy black hair?

In short - will either of them survive?

The latest chapter is shown from Snape's point of view.

"Yes I am fine, thankyou… young Hufflepuff" Best line of the whole story. Made me laugh really hard.

To Sever the Lining from a Cloud by Textualsphinx

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: This tale of the teacher whom everyone loathes,
Accounts for his anger and elegant clothes.
It dripped through my mind when, too scantily cloaked,
I got caught in a rainstorm and throughly soaked.

WARNING: Despite the glints of humour, you will need a handkerchief.

I've read many HP stories for years - and this must be the most artful one. The idea of a dress made out of the lining of a cloud is incredibly poetic, as is the notion that beautifying magic can only be done by ugly people (That, I think is really the spirit of Wilde's fairy tales, so quoting him is very appropriate!) While your characterisation of Lily might be a bit off, in this case it doesn't matter, because she is described wonderfully, in a way that maes you completely understand Snape's adoration for her.

Sorting Songs, a History (with Two Examples) by Textualsphinx

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Who really writes the Sorting Songs? A literary history of magical song-writing with not one but two authentic examples from recent decades. They rhyme and they scan.
Reviewer: Wintermute Signed
Date: 01/19/05 Title: Chapter 1: One shot

Wow :D You rhyme better than JKR, I think!

Author's Response: Ssh - she drops in at Mugglenet from time to time you know. Actually, the 'Philosopher's Stone' Sorting Song has really ingenious rhymes and wordplay, but I'm dead flattered!

The Harry Potter Code by dink

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: I've spent many hours trying to crack the code that JKR cunningly hid throughout the Harry Potter series, concentrating mostly on The Goblet of Fire and The Order of the Phoenix. After weeks of painstaking research, I feel that I'm finally able to reveal the truth of what lies between certain selected sentences from each of these books.

Certain characters' personalities have been utterly transformed by the code-breaking process. Read at your peril ...

Oh my gosh! The power that helped him get back the Marauders Map! Voldemort and Wormtail on a bicycle! I love that story!

Author's Response: Did you notice that Voldemort and Wormtail on a bicycle was completely ripped off from E.T.?

Love it! Love you! :DDD

Author's Response: Thank you, Wintermute! Love, like spoons and paperclips, is something for which the world has an infinite capacity. :D

Azkaban Dreams by Terri

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Time is heavy burden in a place like Azkaban Prison, especially for a man wrongly accused of the death of his best friends. All Sirius has are his dreams of what might have been...
Reviewer: Wintermute Signed
Date: 11/21/04 Title: Chapter 1: Harry's 11th Birthday

It's a lovely idea and well written! Everyone is pretty much in character, just Harry makes me wonder. He doesn't quite behave like an eleven-year-old, rather much younger, but that could be Sirius' imagination. On the other hand, how do you explain that Sirius dreams of Draco or Hedwig? How should he know that these things happened? Is there a plot hidden beneath these things? Write more!

Whoa, why has this so few reviews? I think it's really one of the better stories out there! I love the Black family as you portray it, Sirius is for once really in character (as is everybody else). The Prologue was lovely in style and wording, and the flashback scenes are too. I especially liked the one with all the Black children together and the one where Remus thinks about them becoming real people and their relationships becoming less superficial. It makes me think again how extremely cruel it was to put Sirius into Grimmauldplace that year .. that is the one action by Dumbledore I really don't get. More!

River Styx by Wintermute

Rated:
Summary: Remus Lupin and Severus Snape, framed for murder and sharing a cell at recently overcrowded Azkaban. Will the dysfunctional pair make it out of their cell before the wolf comes out during the next full moon? ::set in a hypothetical sixth year where Dumbledore has vanished and Regulus Black, who returned mysteriously from the dead weaves a dangerous intrigue::

Dear Starfeild,

I hope you notice this, since I can find no other way to contact you.
Regulus is not Fenrir mainly for one reason: I wrote this story before Half-Blood Prince came out and therefore Fenrir didn't exist yet. Also, Fenrir would have had to be written very out of character to fit into this story.

You may write a story about Remus and Fenrir, of course, they're not my characters, but why not make up your own plot and make it more appropriate to Fenrir's character?

The Grim by Literate_Quill

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: This isn't some long winded story about the Grim. It is actually a poem I wrote. I couldn't think of any good storylines, so I decided to put my way with words to good use and whip up a little something. If you can, leave a review... Please?

Nice poem, good pace and rhythm (as far as I could tell, anyways). The mood was a bit strange, though ... I very much liked the part about prophecies and omens and also the end, but it didn't quite fit in with the accounting of the events in PoA and OotP ...

Author's Response: Well, Harry was told that he had the Grim in his tea leaves. He was a bit nervous, because he had seen big black dogs before, but soon he found out that it was only Sirius in his Animagus form. But then, in book five, Sirius dies. Perhaps Sirius' Animagus form was a warning (from J.K. Rowling). That is what some people believe. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to review my poem! :)

Tom Riddle and the Half Blood Prince by Zetera

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Parody of the Harry Potter series written and completed before the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It looks at the lives of some of the major characters as they wait impatiently for book six to arrive. Naturally, chaos ensues. Suitable for all.

Winner of the first annual Quicksilver Quills Award 2006 for best humor fiction. Thank you!

*fights the urge to blomp voldymort* How cute. 10

Gosh, that story made me laugh out loud so many times - you've got a wonderful humour! I wish I had it :D

Author's Response: Are you serious? (Sirius lol!) I loved "My Magnificant Plan" I was on the floor laughing at it! And I am entranced by the wonderful "River Styx". Thank you so much, but you, my friend, are a much better writer than I.

The end made me crack up. Really, this is quite good (there are so many hideous humour stories!) No terrible spelling, no self-insertion and actual humour. Love Hermione ... More!

Author's Response: Yes OMG I hate self-inserting weirdo stories. You are my 1st review! Why won't my 2nd part come up? Thanks!

I was a Teenage Voldemort by thethirdman

Rated:
Summary: A satire/crossover of Tom Riddle's story and 1950s Teen Agnst movies like Rebel Without a Cause and I was a Teenage Werewolf. Seventh-year Tom tries to deal with bullies and rejection while slipping deaper into resentment and despair. This could be cross-classifies as Dark/Angsty as it's less funny "haha!" and more funny "huh?"

This story sure has potential ;) I like the Dumbledore/Tom interaction, and the Tom/Myrtle friendship (how tragic...).

Nargh, I want to know who/what she is, but it is so d**n late I cannot read on! The word 'essence' makes me very suspicious as does the fact that she thinks about demons, but what confuses me greatly is her relation to Lupin. (I'd never have thought you'd bring him in!).

Author's Response: All shall be revealed in good time. I am proud that I have managed to frusterate readers! I intended to do so! Lupin will play a significant role in this fic!

Oh... this sounds quite extraordinary so far. The character of Susan is interesting for sure, even though the idea of someone hiding out as a perfectly ordinary person is not so new (but you've done it very, very well). Snape is portrayed very accurately, I think (the right mix of funny and serious). I love the idea if a fic set in first year! Everyone seems to write only post-fifth year these days... I'll keep on reading!

Author's Response: Yes, the hiding out bit could be considered a touch trite. However, nothing is as it seems with Miss Jones. Thank you very much for reading and reviewing, Wintermute!

I officially love this story. It's a suberb mystery and a very nice comedy. And Snape is being nicer, without being out of Character(he seems young, without being like a teenager :)). And, oh my god, how perfectly well you captured the horror that is travelling by bus!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I only just realised that your story was featured as well! I shall have a read.

Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort and the Writer's Block by LilmissBrit

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: It’s Harry Potter’s Seventh Year in Hogwarts, and Lord Voldemort is close to overthrowing good once and for all. He’s got it all: a goblin desk, Albus Dumbledore’s quill, one billion, two thousand, six hundred and ninety-eight slaves and a secretary…not to mention the entire world. It’s time to put himself into the history books properly - as the evil genius he is. Unfortunately, Lord Voldemort has a bad case of writer’s block…with hilarious consequences.

Continue! I like it, especially the first chapter.

Author's Response: It's all downhill from here...::wink::
