I'm a recent convert to fanfiction with a fixation on Remus/Tonks, though I also love any pairing that is canon (yes, I'm a book nazi). After reading the Shoebox Project over on lj, I'm afraid to read anything Marauder Era, since that is absolutely magnificent. It is, in fact, what converted me to fanfiction, since I used to hate it. I always read badly-written, ridiculously-paired, character-destroying fanfics, so I hated it until I read Shoebox and realized that it can be good. I'm trying to follow their pattern and make my writing and characterizations as true as possible. Please let me know anything I can do to improve!
For now, I'm sticking to one-shots that (hopefully) give some insight into the characters. I tend to write late at night, when my mind is a bit mixed up, so expect some rather stream-of-consciousness type things.
Enjoy.
I absolutely loved the grief scene. The rest of it was very good, too, especially as it's what we've been waiting for all along. But that one part was my favorite. I love how they just fell on each other instinctively, naturally, and ignored all the thoughts that would stop them. It reminded me of Ron & Hermione at Dumbledore's funeral: the people that you turn to, without thought, in grief are the ones you love most.
I want Tonks's t-shirt. Bloody brilliant. Anyway, I pretty much agree with what everyone else said. Great characterizations, and I like your style, but I kept waiting for Sirius to go, "Wait . . . Tonks? Are you Andromeda's daughter?" He wouldn't recognize her at all (even if she weren't a Metamorphmagus!), but her mother was his favorite cousin. Keep it up!
Nice. I absolutely love the line
"Parchment and tangerine
My Amortentia is you."
It's brilliant.
Not sure I like all the food analogies, though. There are just too many! But still, very cute.
Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing. I'm glad you liked that line, it's one of my favourites.
As for the food, it's because I wanted to find something Ron could be familiar with and food was just the answer;-)
