The Unseemly Proposal by sparx

Summary: The reign of Voldermort comes to an end, and with it ends the prestige and power Lucius Malfoy once had in the Wizarding World. In order to regain the respect of his fellow wizards and to make them believe that he has turned over a new leaf (which he actually hasn't) and has graciously accepted muggles and Mudbloods, Lucius asks Hermione, a Mudblood, to marry his son, Draco, a pure-blood. Obviously, they both refuse, but Lucius isn't going to give up easily. After all, he wants his status back. He still has a few tricks up his sleeve and is determined to play match-maker. What happens next is a series of events that serve only to bring Hermione and Draco closer, both literally and figuratively speaking. Wait a minute!!! We made far too much progress between those two (albeit drunkenly) in the last chapter to just lose it at that. Come on!!! Grr! You do know I wouldn't gripe so much if I didn't absolutely love the story, right? Oh well, I'm still anxiously awaiting the next chapter and further advancement of their relationship. ;)

Woohoo! *First review dance* Yay, I feel really happy that I get the honor of being first. I would like to thank my mom and my dog, my agent and. . .you get the picture. I really enjoyed this chapter. It goes a long way to further their bond. Yes, no matter how much Malfoy and Hermione would deny it, they do have a bond. Despite the fact that Hermione is not very good with understanding Quidditch stuff, it's a very big thing that she would be helping out the opposing team, even at the risk of losing her friends. I think at the beginning of the story I said that I wish they would find a way out of the Love-Knot and decide to be together anyway. I'm still holding out for that and way to go on this chapter!

Wanting to ride with Draco is certainly a BIG step, and, like you said, she’s taking a big risk in doing what she thinks is right. I do remember you saying that you would rather them get together without the help of the Love-Knot, and I do still remember that! We’ll see how it goes, yeah? =D

Still enjoying the chapter. I agree that it doesn't exactly move the plot along but sometimes you need to put things in just because you love them. Why write a story if you don't love what you write? I give it 9/10.

Great great chapter! I love the irony of Lucius showing up. You know, I really want them to figure out how to get it off and then fall in love so it doesn't seem like they were forced into it. I mean, it would make it seem more noble. Anyway, great work!

Building chemistry between the two, nice touch. It made me sooo happy. For all the complaining I do about hurrying it up, you're actually doing a great job, taking it slow, having things happen naturally and I applaud you for that. I enjoyed this chapter lots and I hope that there's a jealousy battle and "my horse is bigger than your horse" competition in the next chapter. That would be too much fun!

This mean that the "getting along" bit will come into play eventually and pretty subtly, but I can ensure you that it will! Does that make sense?
