This is absolutely gorgeous. It truly made me weep, knowing what was to happen in the future (Sirius's desire to be reunited with Regulus and knowing that Regulus would change sides too late was gut-wrenching.) I think you captured all four ot them perfectly.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm not sure there is any evidence for Sirius holding out a bit of hope for Regulus, or even feeling bad about what happened, but I have always liked to think it was the case and have used it in a few stories. Thank you so much for reading this one, I'm so glad you enjoyed it, even though sometimes writing young Marauders--knowing what's going to happen--is rather sad. Thanks again! ~Gina :)

Thank you for bringing up this difficult and disturbing topic, and for portraying it with compassion and dignity. Someone I love was raped as a young man and went through many of the same reactions as Al did in the story. (Including isolation from friends and family and a suicide attempt.) Men are taught to be strong and independent, that they should be able to fight for themselves and loved ones; grief and shame as the victim of such a crime can be overwhelming. Like Al, the man that I knew never reported the crime, never got any assistance or counseling.
Author's Response: Thank you for sharing this, DaisyMaeEvans. I don't like society and I find it disturbing that men and women do not have the same emotional status in society. Men are so much weaker with their emotions-- they're forced to be so, and that does lead to some rather terrible consequences. Society has always been unforgiving: mostly towards women, but, in some aspects, men too.
I am sorry to hear that you know someone who has actually gone through this. I don't know what else to say... just that, this is terrible and unjust... and I hope your friend is able to get his justice.
