My real name is Natalie but everyone calls me Nat-Pat, this is because of my father's evil workmates. The day i was born my dad's best friend put a big sign up in their workshop saying 'Big Dave's got a Nat Pat!' and the name stuck.

The Daughter of Light by Magical Maeve

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: An Irish witch languishes in the darkness of her family home, confined by her father and circumstances. What will it take to bring her out of this exile? The chance to return to Hogwarts? The opportunity to participate in the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters? Or will it be Severus Snape, a man she did not expect to see again in her lifetime?

This is canon compliant to OoTP but written pre-HBP.

Reviews and constructive criticism are most welcome, and thanks go to Ashwinder who kindly beta read the chapters for me. :-)

I was really touched by what Maeve said to Alice, it was so kind of her to do that. I felt all teary eyed.

Bravo, a spectacular ending to a spectacular story. I cannot express to you how wonderful it was! But Hooray! I'm not finished yet, i've still got to read the epilogues!

The spider is Roderick, right? It was a beautiful ceremony, i was so glad to see Harry and Severus over come their feelings towards one and another. Nice to see Remus getting some female attention reciprocated. I love the Harry/Ginny hint's you're dropping, i just love that pairing. I can't believe that i'm almost finished.

That was an amazing chapter and a very fitting end to an enchanting tale.

In the last four days i haven't done anything but eat, sleep, work and read this story. I was determined to finish it and every second that i was away from the computer this story played in my mind. For the past four days it has been my life and what journey it has been.

I wouldn't be the first person to say that there are some truly wonderful stories on this site, but without any question, this is amongst the very best. It really work of art that would JKR herself proud.

Your descriptions were so vivid that i felt a part of every scene, i felt every breeze and sensed every atmosphere.

The way you manipulated characters was ingenious, in particular Snape. I would never have imagined him doing some of the things that he has done in the course of this story. Yet you never once left character and his progression felt completely natural. Maeve was a particular stroke of brilliance and i loved her almost from the outset, she is the perfect match for the dark and brooding Snape. Harry, Ron and Neville were allowed to grow in a particularly charming way and you emphasized their maturity very well. In the epillogues you managed to capture Fred and George spectacularly and i couldn't help my laughing.

I found myself so enraptured in this story that i was reduced to tears of sadness and joy, i even found myself whooping and clapping in the fashion of Fred and George. You were able to draw me in every inch as well as Jo does, and you made feel for everyone in the exact same way. As a writer myself i know that it can be hard to evoke the reactions you want but you seem to do it with such ease with everything flowing together beautifully.

I'm praying for a sequel, although this was rather a fitting ending but i desperately want more! Promise you're writing a sequel? I have this enjoyed reading this more than i could have ever imagined, thank you for several hours away from my tiresome life and for a delightful read. I hope to read to read more from you soon! natpat ;-)

I did try and submit a review for the first chapter but the stupid computer wouldn't let me. I decided that since you did such a great job with betaing my chapter i really owed you and should read and review your fic and Wow. So far so incredibly good!

Words really fail me, the way you describe everything is incredible and the way you're filling in little bits of their past together is amazing.

I cannot get over how well your words seem to flow, there is so much rich and vivid description. I love the intensity of things between Maeve and Severus, you can tell that the feelings they had and still have for each other are so powerful. I think JKR would be very hard pushed to produce anything better than this!

Thank god Arthur isn't dead, i was getting to be very upset about that. I feel so sorry for the Weasley's. As each chapter goes by i hate Niall more and more. I really like Maeve though, she's been so good for Harry. You're doing such an amazing job.

The great thing was that althought this chapter was quite different from the ones before it, it felt totally natural. Maeve was very sensitive with Harry and i'm beginning to really like her.

Tut,tut, stealing things from teachers. Another spectacular chapter, with lots of mystery (which is just how i like things). I really quite like Roderick, he's very funny. And who knew that Flitwick could be so devilish?

Go Ron! You have no idea how happy it made me to see Ron punch Malfoy's lights out, i only wish he could have hexed him in to the middle if next week while he was at it. Go Neville! It's about time dear old Neville was allowed to shine and his classmates actually voting on him for the job will do wonders for his self esteem. Yipeee!

I knew that Neville was going to be important but that still took me by surprise, the boy certainly knows his stuff. You never fail to astound me with your creativeness, coming up with all the plant names and spells and so forth. It's really quite an honour to see your brain working.

Got a question for you, the little weasel running around Hogwarts, is it Meany? I suppose the best way to find out is to keep reading.

Oh just as it's about to get more interesting i have to go to work and it sucks. I'll be back asap to finish reading but i love the story thus far, it's so detailed and mysterious!

Author's Response: Thanks for all your reviews! Glad you are enjoying the story so far. :-) And I agree, work sucks!

Nothing to say, completely heart broken, not Remus, anybody but Remus...

I really didn't like Maeve ranting at Hermione, it was Harry's fault, he deserved the ranting not Hermione. On top of that there is absolutely no way that she should be going to Abbeylara, if Harry had any good sense he would have let her set off and then gone back to the castle to tell Dumbledore. That being said Harry doesn't have much good sense so that explains a lot. I'm not sure i can take much more tension!

Thank God he's not dead, i might have been forced to hate you if he was. I'm so relieved, unbelievably relieved. I definitely like this Roderick fellow, he strikes me as someone that Ron might turn in to. I loved the bit where you mentioned that Ron was often eclipsed, very, very true.
