~LucillaJoanna (LJ)aka lucilla_pauie (here) aka Dayang Lucilla (dramione.org/ff.net) is busy-busy with original fiction. But every now and then she gets a fit of fan fiction, like allergy. A beloved allergy.

I'm a Filipina, living in the Philippines, spending my waking hours reading and writing. I have high hopes, like most everyone, but for now, I relish writing and being read here.

The stories you'll find here are a mad medley. I love the HP-universe in its entirety, and so write vastly within this vast world of people and eras. However, I don't stray far from romance-- you know, pairings and life lemons. I love those quotes that more often than not end up hackneyed in email/SMS forwards. If I don't quote them directly, they inspire the pieces you'll see here.

Pairings:

I don't think there's one I can't or won't write (except slash, younger generation/older generation, OC's). I was hooked into fan fiction for these snippets of sweets we don't get to read from the HP books. Even though I write horror in RL, I'm a very girly girl, the kind that squeals while reading the Twilight series even for the nth time. Incidentally, unless they're Joyce Carol Oates or Neil Gaiman or maybe William Faulkner come back to life, I scoff at those who scoff at Twilight (friendly&fond scoffing, now. ^_^ Everyone's entitled to their own tastes and opinions, aye?). Back to topic, it's a disappointment to shippers to favorite me because I write Dramione this week, and then write a Ron/Hermione the next. Hee.

Asked what my OTP is, I'll say it's Ron/Hermione, but that's only because I love Hermione and I'm loyal to what JKR decided. But I think I don't have an OTP. I ride, I ship, I bike and even cook them all. I have Haxime and Frangelina. I also have a list of the pairings I have yet to try, but I'm too immersed in three WIP's, both here and in RL.

General Fics:

If not in the Romance subcats, my stories go here. They're all dear to me. They're mostly Challenge entries, so they were written with motives. ^_^ Five are Post-DH yarns, and two of these (Little Things; A Shower of Stardust) concentrate on the white noise after the War.

Great Lady of Magic was originally five chapters, but due to the Challenge deadline, became a one-shot instead. The cramming and compression seemed to have worked nonetheless; it's my first First Place since I started joining the Challenges in New Year 2007!

The Prince's Unshared Tale: Uncut is my little peace offering to Snape, whom I have slandered until July 22, 2007. Still, you have to admit he's been very stubborn and stupid.

The Art of Weaselling: I enjoyed this one so much. I liked Neville's grandma's inveigling tactics and Great Uncle Algie's slyness. What is One Picture Worth? is my stab at a historical. Loved the research and the flowery, courtly English I had to use, though I tried not to make it a la Shakespeare too much.

Bonds of Magic has been solicited into someone's blog during the DH fever. It still comes up when I google my real name. I'm embarassed, LOL. It was too fluffy compared to the book. Phew.

Alternate Universe:

Dark/Angst, I won't; Humor, I can't. I think Ron's Best Friend can be classified as the latter, but to be safe from sneers, I just put it into Ron/Hermione. AU is the only other cat I have here. How to Hold Sway is very much at the top of my favorites and I'm thinking of expanding on some questions it triggered from readers. I originally posted it under Dramione after the Challenge finished, but shippers complained. Hehe.

At the Forums:

This will be the "Beta Forums" you see on the Nav Bar to the side. I haunt General Fan Fiction Discussion, Madam Pomfrey's Character Clinic, The Reference Desk, The Beta Guild, and of course, SPEW (the Society for the Promotion of Proper Evaluation for Writers by Readers). I'm a very loyal Hufflepuff, redundancy intended. I'm not active in the common room (because if I join the games, I'll be addicted!), but I do my small part.

Real Life:

I've had my first book, so to speak (hehe), in December 2007, when my story was included in the third annual run of the anthology, Philippine Speculative Fiction. That's the name for the genre of fantasy/horror/scifi and the cracks in between. My story's title is Hamog (dew).

I also write book reviews, handling Classics, Contemporary Classics and the Trivia and Quiz sections of READ magazine. I've also landed the On Reading two-page spread and the Seasonal Review (with my pic!). I nearly choked on my chicken burger when I was first included in the masthead.

In December 2005, which is not too long ago, and which is why I'm rather lazy, I won First Place in a nationwide essay contest regarding teen pregnancy (sponsored by The Advocates for Youth Philippines Foundation, Pringles and UNFPA). I never used the theme park tickets, I still have the box of feminine wash sachets and karaoke bar gift certificates, and the first things I bought with the money were books: The Count of Monte Cristo; On Writing; Stardust; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; By The River Piedra, I Sat Down and Wept; The Alchemist; Flipped; The Phantom of the Opera; Wuthering Heights...

I dream about shopping for this many books in one go again. I earn bookstore GC's now, but I only get five books at most. *sigh*

I have been deaf since I was thirteen due to meningitis. My mania for books, fan fiction, and scripts is understandable, no? I'm so glad I'm not blind. Meningitis can be that cruel.

It has been kind to me, however. I'm happy. Sometimes people don't take me seriously because I'm too bubbly. So here I did try to be sober. Hemhem.

I have two brothers and one sister. Onchie is a Mining Engineering junior, Josh is in seventh grade and Jouie is in third grade.

I have a mongrel, Jego.

I love egg yolks.

I moderate a local Harry Potter club, MaCofWiz, in which I'm in Ravenclaw, and in which I'm the one who almost always plans and plots the outings.

I was born under Libra, Tiger and the hazelnut tree. ^_^

Sometimes Sorry Isn't Enough by BertieBotsBeans741

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:
Is sorry ever really enough? Can it seal old wounds? Put the pieces back together? In the end, is it really worth it?

Written for the Dumbledore’s Hat fic exchange.

‘Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?’ ~ Abraham Lincoln

Your characterization of the Marauders deviates from those used by most other authors. You make them mature. Playful and mercurial still, yes, and mindless sometimes, but the awareness and wisdom--though small and still needing honing-- that can be found in teens resonates in these events you have captured and retold. Great work there, Brittany.

You write well. Let me affirm you again on that. I read this smoothly. The first few paragraphs: you employed a lovely technique there, of beginning at the end and subsequently drawing us in, wanting to know the beginning and middle.

We guessed, of course. All of us must have. And you delivered. I love the naturalness of your dialogue. It doesn't sound contrived, and you're fair to each of the Marauders. I find it annoying when authors slander Peter, and by extension, the other three, who associated with him. In your stories, you are in the Marauder era, and in the Marauder era alone, not bothering to incorporate elements of the characters that might not really have emerged until very much later, during the siege on their inner souls.

And then of course, you seem to have an amazing affiliation with Remus. You are so in touch with him, and with the incidents, feelings and complications surrounding and revolving around his friendships and his condition.

James fighting him off with his antlers! And Remus reeling backwards from the force. 'Sorry about this, Remus.' Indeed. If I was in James's, I would feel plenty sorry. About the need to fight my best friend, slamming him with my own body, restraining him. And about there being the need to restrain him in the first place.

Remus's predicament is perhaps the most serious taint in the Marauders' otherwise happy life. The threat of Voldemort isn't really felt at Hogwarts back then, is it? Sirius's estrangement from his family is small compared to being afraid of yourself, afraid for others and afraid of the scarlet of your secret.

So Remus's fury here is compelling and just... so true. As well as Snape's reasoning. How do you do this? You have Snape down-pat, too! So Slytherin in his reasoning: suspicious because he's sly himself.

All in all, yes, I enjoyed this very much, Brittany. And I'm looking forward to more from you.

~Joanna

Author's Response: *high-pitched squee* Joanna! Hehe, you are so sweet. =D This review is just amazing. I'm so happy you enjoyed it and came up with all of the lovely things that you did. I was rather worried about Snape. I've just never understood him so knowing that he seemed in character means a lot. I just love this review. Really. Truly, I do. *whistles* Expect one soon from me. ;)

One Who Ventured by TCole

Summary: Sirius Black is sent on a mission to retrieve a relic of one of the founders. Only he didn't know that he would be sent to a different time period, let alone a different country.

What would happen there would shock him completely.

My second Sirius story for the day. Hello, Tiffany dearling. Featured Author! *hug*

I was intrigued by the summary, was lured in by the first paragraph, and held captive by the suspenseful atmosphere you weaved.

I kept wondering where he was, what was happening, and why. Bit by bit, you answered these questions. Subtly, too, before Sirius concluded being in the Second World War.

Although expository, the vivid imagery-- vivid without adjectives; good job-- made up for the absence of dialogue. It kept me reading. I saw the street, the crowd, the soldiers, and Sirius with his begrimed face, trying to blend in and accomplish something at the same time.

In my understanding of Time Turning, you only move in time, not place. So by the ending, I was convinced Sirius witnessed the London Blitz perhaps. I had to scroll up again and saw that no, he was in Germany. It triggered questions...

I'm afraid I was a little disappointed toward the ending. More at myself, though, because I feel like there's something obvious that I didn't grasp. What was the locket doing in some street in Germany, beside a rubbish bin? And why did Dumbledore's Time Turner have pesky, detachable appendages? Well, never mind that one. But this: who was that boy Sirius killed? Was that his mission? Only then can Dumbledore be so blase about it. Pray tell, Tiffany. I'm dying here. ^_^

Rubia by luinrina

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Changes can be frightening, and Hagrid is more than just nervous about the change that is currently occurring in his life. Will he keep his nerves to stay strong? And, especially, what kind of change is he facing?

Hey, my dear Bine,

What a charming snippet of Hagrid and Madam Maxime you've chosen to give us here!

Oh, when I read the 'Wiener Waltz', I thought it was a typo, and that you meant Wagner instead. But do you mean Strauss the Younger's Wienerwald? It might be better to revert to that, so as not to confuse non-musical readers with frankfurters. *giggles*

Your Hagrid is so accurate in his bumbling, nervous panic, hesitation and meekness before both Olympe and her situation and then Ginny's irritation. Our favorite half-giant is so rarely given his dues in fan fiction. You did him well, hon. I could almost see him smiling at that dream and then losing all ruddiness when it finally got through to him, the urgency of the continuation of his dream of love. Aww. Good job, hon. You have captured him well.

"Exhausted from worrying so much, Hagrid tiredly sank onto the sofa again and hid his face in his hands. ‘I’m gonna to be a ‘orrible dad,’ he said after some minutes of silence. His shoulders sagged and he looked really despaired. He even started to cry."

As a more ideal ending, you can settle this emotional peak. Let Rubeus be assured and comforted by the sheer miracle of his little Rubia. ^_^

~Joanna

PS: And I must say, that's a very beautiful name for Hagrid and Olympe's daughter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review, Joanna. Rubia I came up with as a deflection of Rubeus - great to know you liked the name.

Hee, yes, I meant the Wienerwald of Strauss the Younger. I probably just translated it from German to English and this incorrectly... I'll change it. Thanks for picking that up.

And for your suggestion for a more ideal ending: I might make a second chapter one day. I just got inspired and have to collect some more ideas. And who knows? Maybe it'll become a chaptered fic one day. But not right now. Too busy at the moment.

Again thank you for reviewing.

~Bine (who's author's response is nearly as long as Joanna's review >.>)

Empty Words by MerrryD

Mere, Empty Words blew me away.

I don't read much Sirius fics. I don't read angsty romances. But your story clutched me and didn't let go.

Now, I don't know about the class, but I think your summary doesn't do your story justice. I'm glad I opened it without judging by the cover (summary). You might consider to revise the summary to match your Gwen's passionate heartbreak.

The slaps. Perhaps I've been reading too many timid damsels with gentleman lovers. Those two slaps made me cringe and stare (read) in egregious amazement as if I was in the same broom closet when they rang out. Merlin, you wrote that scene so well.

The confrontation. Just because I don't read much Sirius doesn't mean I don't know him. I think it's better that I only stumble across gems like this anyway, so my interpretation of him isn't garbled by fanon. We HP fans have this innate perception of good or bad characterization. My radar only beeped "good, good" as I read Empty Words. Gwen is such a rocker chick. And her being so is a tribute to Sirius as well. I can't see him belonging to someone less fiery. I love Gwen, yes I do.

I'll even go ahead and fangirl for a second here and request you to write a Gwen/Sirius Before Cosette piece, pretty please with a sweet juicy kumquat on top.

The sulking. No, wrong word. The seething. Yes, that's it. I loved Gwen's seething as she sat there in the grass. "Cheated. Cheated, cheated, cheated." And then the one with the BAM's. And then her possessive and proprietary reflections that can only come from a seething girlfriend, who has been so obviously worshipped prior to the fallout. Oh my. Her angst isn't angsty, just... interesting, the kind which a friend who has come to console will love hearing, a peek into private stuff they won't otherwise prod about. Now you understand why I loved the seething.

The conclusion. So real and authentic. Numbness after the pain and passion. Apathy after the tears. Even as my heart aches for Sirius and Gwen, the Potterite in me is rejoicing because of this canon-y back story (While reading Remus's explanation, I was thinking, 'That is SO Sirius.').

Author's Response: Wow, Joanna! Thank you so much for this wonderful review. :) hahaha, actually, I got the summary first--as part of our final we were given a summary to write a one-shot to, so I didn't really write it. -shrugs- Oh, well. Your words just made my day. I can't stop smiling. :D Thanks for all you lovely compliments. -pats stoked ego- I am so glad you liked, especially since you don't read much Sirius. Thanks again! -pickles- xo Mere

This is promising to be a very dark story. This is promising, full stop. I can't wait to see where you take this. I'm glad I sidestepped the warnings and took a peek! The dialogue between all of them rings authentic for each situation. My heart broke for little Draco. I can see how those two kinds of upbringing from his mother and father shaped him up to be the little cockroach he was, although of course I hope he'll be redeemed yet. :)

Author's Response: It is pretty dark- I've tried to intersperse the darker chapters with a bit of softness so it doesn't get too overwhelming. I've always had a soft spot for Draco- I think he's a very sympathetic character. This chapter, with the abuse, was challenging for me, but it flowed out of my brain like I was watching a film. Will there be redemption? You'll just have to wait and see.... (mwahahaha) ;) Please keep taking the journey with me; as far as the warnings go, this chapter is one of the worst, so if you did ok here you should be fine. The non-consensual sex doesn't come til waaaaay later and it's not overly graphic at all. Thank you so very much for your review and your awesome words of encouragement- they mean the world! I should have another chappie up in a few days. Feel free to comment anytime!!! Luv, Stefanie

While He Leaves by Ginny Weasley Potter

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Harry stood quite still and silent, listening to her sobbing and calling Ron’s name amongst the trees.— Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by JK Rowling

We know everything about how Harry felt when Ron left him and Hermione in the forest after the huge fight with Harry on that fateful day. But what was the situation in Ron and Hermione’s minds? How could it be from their points of view?

*looks up pantoum* Oh wow. I love this, Pooja. It's delicious to read. The pantoum is so right to convey the emotions here with the repeated lines.

Author's Response: Pauie! Thank you so much! This was my first try at a definitive poetry style. :p I'm so glad you liked it. *huggles*

Eastern Dawn Stars by Ginny Weasley Potter

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: “Hello,” I said, “what’s your name?”

Her mouth opened a tad and she looked at me, confused. Then she looked at the rubbish bag. “Sahib, kachra?”

Scorpius Malfoy travels to India for a Healing program and finds himself in the unlikeliest of situations when he starts to fall for a poor sweeper girl.

This is Ginny Weasley Potter of Hufflepuff house writing Scorpius Malfoy for the second part of the One-Shot Triathlon at the Character Clinic and I would like to dedicate this fic to my very first friend on MNFF: Pauie/ lucilla_pauie. You’re awesome, Pauie!

‘Kachra’ is a Hindi word which directly translates to ‘rubbish’.

Rating is due to the 'sexual situations' warning which is really just a kiss. But I'm not sure how many people will be comfortable with it so I've rated this high.

Notes taken as I read:

Ooh, memoir-style!

I love the onomatopoeia.

Pooja always does her country proud with the culture she infuses into her writing.

Spot-on characterization of a rich guy curious about the poor, and then indignant when the poor are less than thrilled at the attention. And spot-on Malfoy-ness to notice beauty, even in the poor.

This guy rhapsodizes about the girl's name and perfection after knowing her for less than a day and then he's surprised he might be in love with her? *snicker*

Oh, gosh, I like that kiss. Leave it to a Malfoy to do what he wants to do without hesitation, but after some mental debate and self-questioning, of course, hehe.

No Prachi? Where's is she? Scorpius seems really about to leave. This is a one-shot. He'll probably go home and then run into Prachi in London and discover she and her family had been part of an immersion project or something.

Oh, good, he went after her. Wow, I know some places in the Philippines just like Arun Nagar.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

My goodness, Pooja. You broke my heart.

But. I'm strangely satisfied about it. :) Well done, hon! Although I squirmed at your public love. People might get jealous, you know. LOL I'm sure they are. Not everyone has such a lovely friend like YOU. *huggles and cuddles and kisses you* I know I already said this in our FB messages, but it bears repeating: you sweet, sweet woman.

Author's Response: Pauie! *huggles* :* Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! I just had my fingers crossed about your reaction to this one-- I tried Dramione, I really did, but my Draco is really bad and I settled for Scorpius instead (whom I've never really written like Draco-- because yeah, I can't write Draco. :p) And I wanted to write Philippines at first, had Google translation and stuff right beside me too but then I had some questions about the culture there and you're really the only Filipina I know and I couldn't ask you... :o Heehee, I liked writing confused!Scorpius, tbh. And I'm glad you liked him. :) The kiss was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I didn't think I'd write it at first... then it just came. :D I’m actually rather obsessed with onomatopoeia too. I like using it-- and there’s never many opportunities for it, unfortunately. :( And the memoir-style just came. Mainly because I’m not sure how to write in first-person PoV. I love places like Arun Nagar. They're actually very beautiful! I got this plot bunny when I'd been to one such place to visit a WHO centre. :) And yeah... Prachi. :( I was strangely satisfied about that too. It seemed like a fitting end to the story because frankly, I can’t see a Malfoy marrying a sweeper. She had to go… -_- Wow. That’s really mean of me. But you do know I kill a lot of my characters! Thank you for the review! Sorry it took me so long to respond! And I don’t care about how jealous people may get that I still have such a good friend from MNFF and we’ve remained friends for so long! Heehee, I want them to be jealous of our friendship. And you’re awesome too, Pauie, you’re amazing! *huggles and kisses back*
