How lucky of me to have stumbled upon this story. I was just fooling around, clicked the last page of Draco/Hermione stories, and found this one. JEEZ, am I glad I did that. This story is so great! Honestly! It felt kinda, kinda rushed at one point but honestly you kept them so close to in character at all times. It was so sweet and believable at the same time. Bravo!

A Thousand Words by annie

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: For the rest of the Ministry, the interdepartmental challenge was merely a failed attempt to restore trust between workers. But for Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, it was the catalyst for an unexpected relationship built on passionate letters, concealed identities, and secret meetings – and the beginning of an end that neither of them could ever have imagined possible, not even in their wildest dreams.

Post-war. Based somewhat on the story of the Phantom of the Opera. Also contains R/Hr, so don't read if you can't stomach that ship.

Status: Complete. Thanks for reading, everyone!

What a heartbreaking and sad story. I read this story for a discussion in my Dark/Angst class, where I had to depict the theme from a story by a professor.
I chose the theme to be 'seperation', and basically it's effects, even though Ethan's love for his family was also a key concept. But I found it to be almost the same, because it was his love for his wife and mother that caused the sadness/longing due to the seperation.

The letters were very real sounding, and Ethan himself seems like a brave man who was on a quest to help defeat the Dark Lord, even if it meant being away from his loved ones. That is commendable, and shows that he was a great man (as I said in my analyzation in my class).

This story can easily be related to any real war, a Muggle war, because it is so truley written. It is sad to know this happens all the time because of wars, but the feelings you've written through Ethan were belieable and heart-wrenching. His advice/words to his wife and mother were particularly sad, to me, and yet so wise. It surprises me how he could be so wise and truthful and blunt to them, knowing that he would die soon.

Overall, a fantastic piece, that I really enjoyed reading.

Author's Response: I\'m glad that you liked this story. I based it off of the feelings and problems generated by real war. I have a few friends in the miltary, one of whom is engaged, and used their experiances as well as my own feelings to try to make the piece as believable as possible. I\'m constantly amazed by the courage of people both on the battlefield, and those at home.

As the Wizarding World Turns by Canis Contentis

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Ever wonder what the world of Harry Potter would be like as a soap opera? Me neither – until now, that is. Set in Harry’s 6th year, think of this as the parts of the Half Blood Prince that JKR didn’t want us to see. If you're into unconventional ships, this one's for you! Behold… As the Wizarding World Turns

Episode 9 is up!

*****Excerpt from a later chapter*****

"Haven’t you heard the rumors about her – one date Weasley.”

“One date what!?” Harry stared at Hermione dumfounded. He turned his head towards Ginny who once again started snogging Dean. Dean’s hands wandered to his girlfriend’s bum as she pulled the lower half of his body closer. “Hmm… makes sense,” he admitted.

“Anytime she brings up that sort of thing, I try to act like I have loads of experience too, but actually I have no idea what I’m talking about.”

“But what about you and Krum?” Harry asked, still visibly uncomfortable about their conversation.

“Oooh big deal. So we kissed a couple times. That means I must be a demon in the sack,” Hermione answered sarcastically. “Look, I was thinking…” Hermione started to blush. “I need to find someone I know to you know… practice with.”

*grumbles about being signed out while writing previous review*

Great work! You really show the effects of the potion with great detail, through Tom's actions.

Also, I like how she got jealous of Sara. It's as if she's afraid to expose him to the world, because he'll find out that he doesn't really love her.

I must admitt, I got scared for a second at the end that he would realize what was going on...

Great chappie!

Author's Response: I love it when people say they bcome worries about the characters. It makes me so happy. Yay! Thanks for the review!

Wow. I really, didn't see that coming. I'm so blind sometimes...

I like how Merope didn't give him the potion, for it leaves space for trouble to unfold.

Plus, it's nice how Merope doesn't mind him with other girls as much, because she thinks he loves her, and she loves him.

Great discriptions. It really feels as if I'm there with them.

Author's Response: Thanks, I\'m glad you like the descriptions. Those are my favourite.

Very nice ending. I like the way that they began fighting, and how Tom still had the composure not to explode in the cafe.

This must be one of my favorite chapter of the story, only because it kinda goes into Tom's feelings of being decieved.

I'm beggining to feel some sympathy for Merope.

"He grabbed Merope’s hand and ran outside dragging Merope behind him. All he had on his mind now was getting out of this place and yelling at her in the comfort of his own home." - Just had to say, my favorite sentence. It shows him in a light of supiriority, and taking charge, doing something about his anger.

Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks. I\'ve written this story from many points of view, but in this one I really wanted the reader\'s sympothy to go toward Merope. I\'m glad it worked!

Beautiful chapter. I can really tell the difference between your chapters before, and this one. Your descriptions are wonderful, and her sadness is grealy expressed. I feel like I can relate to her sorrow, that is how great you've written it.

Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks. I also feel that my writing gets better as the story gets further on. Probably because this was one of my first fics.

Excellent. Beautiful story. I love this entire idea, and how this gives us a backround on her. I love the finality of this last chapter. Wonderful ending for a wonderful story!

Amazing work! Every chapter was great!

Author's Response: Haha, thanks for the wonderful review!

I'm loving this so far. It really casts a light on the lengths of which Merope would go to, to get Tom. Love potion! Very clever!

Very beautiful writing. I love the way you portray Tom's thoughts before the potion, and after the potion. Like, the effects really show, and it helps us see she slipped something in the drink.

Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks, Grace. I\'m glad you\'re liking it.

Nice chapter! I wouldn't have ever thought of the effects wearing off in the morning. Nice semi-cliffe too. Pretty soon, maybe he won't need the potion at all...

Just a question, does Tom know how to speak Romanian? Is that why he thinks it's odd that the language switched?

Either way, great writing. I really like how she feels guilty towards giving him the potion. It makes her character develoup more, since she has guilt in her system.

Author's Response: No. Tom doesn\'t speak Romanian, which is why he thought it was odd that they should speak English in Romania. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the review!
