When Darkness Did Surround Us by MagEd

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: 2007 QSQ Awards Runner-up for Best Post-Hogwarts

Petunia Dursley is enjoying dinner with her family when someone starts pounding on the door. Ready to tell them off for being so rude and refusing to leave when they didn't answer at first, Petunia opens the door to have a baby shoved into her arms and told she is his only family. Years after the great Harry Potter defeated Voldemort, Death Eaters have risen to power and taken over Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, and even the Ministry of Magic. Their marriages announced invalid, their children in danger and their lives hanging by a thread, the heroes of the war with Voldemort must once again take a stand against evil.

H/G and R/Hr

(pre-Deathly Hallows)

*Completed*

*Quote from The Epilogue*

Suddenly Harry was kissing her as if he couldn’t resist the temptation. There was a kind of frenzy to the kiss at first, a kind of desperate need, but it melted into something soft and sweet and gentle, a promise of a future when kisses would never be limited. When they broke apart he rested his forehead on hers, sprinkling a few affectionate butterfly kisses across her face. “I love you,” he murmured.

Oh... That was an emotional chapter. Excellently written - I like the idea of Petunia redeeming herself in such a way. And Ginny... That's so sad. Having to remarry... I thought it was the Ministry, but the Death Eaters are better, I suppose, because they don't control everything "wizard"... Which is good. So. Yes. Brava on a great story!

~Juli

Author's Response: Yes, I feel like Petunia, as terrible as she is, has to have some sort of heart deep down. And yes, Ginny\'s story from here on out is probably the worst of everyone\'s. Thank you for the review!

Summary: To qualify for Auror training requires N.E.W.T.s in several subjects – and one of them is Potions. If Tonks thinks it through, she might realize that she can do a very important favour for someone she cares a great deal about.

Oh... I like this one a lot. Nice take on a Remus / Tonks - The first one I've read, actually, bu ' very good. I like the fact that it takes place after HBP, and McGonagall as Head and all. Very nice!

~Juli

Author's Response: Thanks for your kind review -- glad you like the story. It takes place after HBP, but only by a few weeks, so Tonks and Remus are still getting used to each other (as we\'ll see in the second chapter).

Ooh... I like this one. A new take on Snape's point of view - I never thought of him as a coward, but as compelled, but I like this one. Nice work with the HBP's chapter in Snape's POV! Very good. I love the lyrics... They fit so well. The tile is spectacular. Great work!

I love how you placed Minerva as Headmistress... It's strange to see her written as that, but wonderful all the same - great chapter!

A bucket of water! How cruel.

This sounds like an AWESOME story - I love the title, and the unique ideas.

~Juli

Author's Response: Yay! My first review! Thanks for your reveiw! I did think that the water was very cruel but my mom did it to me when I was little. I thought it would add some humor. I may update in a week or so. Thanks again!

All's Fair by AlexisTaylor

This is actually full of missing scenes from Year Six, which I have yet to upload in it's entirity. You can get to know McKee in the various one-shots that are/will be uploaded. Pairing: Bill/McKee. Great chapter! I felt I needed to review, because, well, nobody had, and I know someone with the last name of McKee - Her name is Kelly, and I don't likeher very much, but there you have it.

Author's Response: lol. Thank you for reviewing. This story was up before, but thanks to an unfortunate event, it was deleted and my old reviews were lost. I\'d just gotten around to reuploading. Thank you so much for being the first reviewer!

Lived Too Long by bajab

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The most famous Wizard of all time reflects on his very long life - a life lived too long perhaps.

Reviewer: EtherealElation Signed
Date: 10/27/06 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Well... That's certainly a new take on things, and I like it. A lot. The idea of Potter as headmaster is certainly very appealing, but the piece is so much more than that... A very emotional section, a very powerful composition that I absolutely adore for the sheer awe that it holds. Great work, amazingly written... I love how you finished it with the Finite Incantatem. It really gives a sense of completion.

Bravissima!

~Juliet

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I appreciate the feedback.

The Edge by Infinity

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: You can't put everything into words. Somehow, they lose their meaning in the attempt, and then they are nothing but words, sequences of letters, empty. That is why she left no note. And now, standing on the edge, she contemplates the reasons of why she is going to do it.
Reviewer: EtherealElation Signed

Oh... Wow.

This is awsome. Completely... Spectacular. I've never seen one like it - amazing writing, amazing emotion drawn up into this masterpiece that is just so powerful... It took my breath away.

I loved this part... Very striking.
Harry and Ron are not here today. Neither is Ginny, nor Neville, nor Ernie, nor Luna, nor so many others. Why? Because we won. We won the war. But they aren’t here to celebrate. Why? Because it’s only for the living. Those who didn’t survive can’t celebrate their survival.
It's so sad, and yet so attractive... And so very true.

Wonderful work... I hope to see more of this type! Commendable, certainly. Bravissima!

~Juliet

Author's Response: Thanks for your very kind words. I\'m glad you liked it. :) I tried to pass on, to express the feeling of utter desperation, loss, and grief, but at the same time show that you can\'t really understand it unless you have felt it. Yes, it is rather sad, but... I don\'t know... tragedies always seem much more emotional than happy stories, and while happy stories can be sweet and wonderful, I always find sad endings more beautiful & powerful than happy ones.

Oh... *giggles again* That was really, really good. Gucky the spray bottle... Ah, the joys of childhood innocence. I love how you started it with a quill and captured the reader's attention before heading into the storyline that was even more captivating. Great work yet again on characterization, and overall awesome job!

Bravissima, yet again, and many more,

~Juli

Author's Response:

Ooh - thank you!

Complements on this story apparently turn me into a fluttering ninny. Perhaps it\'s because most of the characters are practically OC\'s. Although, then again, it doesn\'t necessarily take all that much to turn me into a fluttering ninny.

I\'m delighted that you enjoyed this story, and thank you for the detail about the beginning; I was hoping that\'d work out well. And, of course, thanks for the review!
\"Captivating\"

Leaves by Simply Being

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: I would look out into the forest, full of huge lofty trees covered in leafy green foliage, pointing downward as if sensing the rain, and trying with all their might to get as far away as possible from it. It doesn’t really make sense, I used to muse to myself. Why would leaves hide from the rain? Maybe, I decided, because they were afraid; afraid that the thing they loved the most would somehow hurt them, and why bother even taking a chance? Therefore, I had concluded, they pointed downward as far as they could reach.

What if the death of Luna's mother wasn't an accident?

A/N: Thanks so much Kasey, Rachel, and Catrin! Also: This comes with a slight AU warning, it all depends on how you look at it. But, strictly speaking, it does not go against cannon.
Reviewer: EtherealElation Signed
Date: 10/28/06 Title: Chapter 1: Leaves

Oh... That was so sweet! I absolutely loved it. I think you took Luna's dad a bit out of character, but the story flows with remarkable ease, and it's just so... So somber, so perfect, and so sweet. Great work here! Brava!

~Juliet

Author's Response: Aww...thanks. I\'m sorry you think he\'s out of character, but it was kind of meant to be that way. It was kind of the only way the story would work.
