I love the Harry Potter books. I even sort of maybe very probably might like the films (I think), even though they left out Peeves. John Williams is a genius - I was sad when he stopped doing the music. Patrick Doyle is great - just not John Williams!

I love "Moments of Bliss" by Moonymaniac, it is well worth checking out.

MOMENTS OF BLISS by moonymaniac

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Remus Lupin is a man with a tragic past, filled with pain, suffering and sorrow. But it is also a past filled with great adventure, true friendship and…love? Even though the odds were against him, Remus found happiness at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He had the Marauders, he was a prefect and his transformations were less horrible, thanks to his Animagi friends. What more could a teenage werewolf want? And how long could his happiness last? Remus and the Marauders prove that in the saddest of lives and darkest of times, there can still be moments of bliss.

Remus centric but with a lot of the other Marauders. This story is a romance, but has almost as much general Marauder era background and side story as romance.
Pre-HBP and DH, so some things from DH will be disregarded, as the warning indicates, but some Spoilers will be incorporated.

Well, Lindi certainly deserved what she got..however excited she was it was very rag mannered not to introduce Will to her friends, especially after she had let Remus pay for her drink. I think Remus should have just gone back to bed and got up on the other side; what a day!

Author's Response: Well, I definitely see whose side you are on, Buckbeak22. LOL Lindi gets no sympathy here. Rag mannered, eh? Is that a British term? I like it. I might use it actually, if that’s okay. It was rather thoughtless of her, I’ll have to admit. But you are right; Remus should have just gone back to bed, instead of compounding his headache! Poor Remus.

Oh, and I wanted to say that I haven’t adjusted the Prophet article due to a system glitch with the site. If I edit, all of my paragraph spacing will get messed up. :( I’m pretty sure they are looking into it and are trying to correct the problem. And I plan on fixing that “bloody” thing, but for now, I’m too lazy to go in and have to manually remove all the extra break tags that will be put in if I edit. *blush* Thank you, Buckbeak22.

Something tells me it won't be long before Lily knows everything... I thought the way you have Peter's career in deception starting is very good. Lovely chapter, I really enjoyed it.

Author's Response: Thank you, Buckbeak22, I\'m glad you liked it. Lily is a clever girl, isn\'t she? ;) And I have realized that hinting at Peter\'s betrayal is a little tricky when we all know it is coming. I want to be subtle, but when the readers know...how subtle can it be? LOL.

Actually, since you ask, I think Lindi will take it well, but Remus is so self deprecating, he probably won't imagine that she will.

Author's Response: Hmm....*wishes she could discuss it* *loves speculation* *loves talking about Remus* *bites tongue* *runs away before she gives anything away*

Another wonderful chapter. Remus is going to be hard put to it to keep up his secret (if she hasn't guessed already? I would have said yes, but then this is Lindi...) I am so glad Remus is getting some time that is perfect. He deserves some time. I liked the fact that it isn't only his friends that can overcome his "prefectness".

I thought of you at the end of DH. Was it tough?

Author's Response: Thank you, Buckbeak22. I\'m glad you agree that Remus deserves some perfect time, especially after DH. *sob* That is so nice that you thought of me. It was tough, but honestly not as tough as some of the other moments in the book. *see massive response to froggie\'s questions below* Of course, you all should have seen me two days after I finished reading. I went for my walk, and started thinking about everything, and absolutely sobbed like a baby, all through my neighborhood, those big body shaking sobs and tears pouring off my chin. *dies* I\'m sure my neighbors would have wondered what on earth had happened if any had been looking out the window as I walked by. Others who know just think I’m insane (but they’ve always known that), :*/ and besides, I needed to mourn. :`( Now, I find myself hesitating to make anything bad happen to Remus, though we all know I have to eventually. *is angry at JKR right now, even though I think she is brilliant*

Lindi is bright, right? So it isn't going to be long now that she is friends with Lupin before she realizes that Darlene is overreacting a bit? Hopefully, although I must say that it is quite flattering to Lupin that Darlene still seems stuck on him. Most girls would have moved on ages ago. Don't say Lupin is going to lose her to the knight in shining armour that went to Dumbledore thus forcing an apology from Chauvinist Adamson? I truly sympathise with Lily, and think Lupin and Lindi need to be magically locked in a broom cupboard together...wait a minute...why hasn't Sirius already done that????

Author's Response: Oh, boy, I don’t feel I can get away with saying, “You’ll have to keep reading to find out.” So let me see…Lindi is very bright in many ways, particularly her studies (with the exception of DADA Practical, of course). But she is also a bit naïve regarding real life and making judgments about the people around her. She is also somewhat insecure and not nearly as brave as she would like to be. There are usually a number of factors leading to a person’s decision to do something or not, right? Darlene: Have you ever known someone who didn’t necessarily care for someone so much as they couldn’t stand not having them or worse, couldn’t stand someone else having them, especially someone they might already feel envious of? Ah, the secret Knight in shining armor… I always know you are paying attention Buckbeak22. The question is whether he is significant to the story or a red herring, or even a he? LOL, I’ll never tell! That one you’ll just have to keep reading to find out! Why hasn’t Sirius locked them in a broom cupboard? *scratches head* Good question! I hope that helped and thank you for reviewing.

One teeny tiny thing... In those days in England it would have been a cake hole rather than a pie hole. I guess the British prefer cake, and the Americans prefer pies! Or you could say "Shut your gobs", but I think cake hole would have been earlier. Gob was when I was at school.

Author's Response: Ooppss...I was probably thinking of mince pies... I like gob...I'll change it to that. Hopefully it is not too out of the time frame. (if I can find the spot. It's been so long, I hardly remember what the chapter is about. >.<) Thanks for keeping me straight, Buckbeak22. :)

Heavens above, I don't need to be credited for an expression! I am glad my reading of Lindi was right. It makes her rather endearing, I can see how Remus likes her, especially as he has that protective streak.

Author's Response: *He-he* Well, my reasons aren’t totally without ulterior motive. <.< It gives me a good opportunity to encourage reviews. >.> *is shameless* lol I’m so glad you feel that way about Remus and Lindi, as I think it would be one of the things he would be drawn to as well. :) Thanks, Buckbeak22.

Hooray! You used my expression. Thank you. You have changed my idea of Siruis as well, I never really liked him, but now he is a man after my own heart. Lindi certainly had that coming to her. You have her Mary Sueness completely negated because of her completely naive attitude to her fellow students. She is so clueless when it comes to reading personalities, she needs someone around to look after her. I am very interested in how she is going to react to Darlene now. And hopefully she will be talking to Remus again now. Thank you Sirius!

Author's Response: He-he, I told you I was going to. :) I really should have credited you. *blush* I meant to do that. *makes note to self* *Gasps* Never really liked Sirius? Well, I feel I have accomplished something if I have converted you. Sirius is one of my favorites. He is so far from perfect, but I find him very interesting and I take him at his word that he would have died for his friends. I can\'t help but love him for that. I love showing him being defensive of his friends, even when, or perhaps especially when he is rather harsh when doing it. And speaking of far from perfect...LOL...Lindi is that! You have hit one of her major flaws squarely on her head! Thank you, Buckbeak22. I always look forward to hearing your impressions and insights. :))

I keep checking, but you haven't written anything! If you are posting somewhere else, please let me know!

That was a great chapter - why should we hate you? I love the talk with James at the end. And I am longing to read the next chapter, where he has to tell Lindi about him being a werewolf. It is such a shame that something that should be so wonderful for Remus should make him feel so lousy the next day. I really got swept up in the chapter. I hope the next one is out soon!

Author's Response: Thanks, Buckbeak22. I'm glad to know you liked it. I figure there are any number of reasons readers might hate me. <.< He still didn't tell her; not a lot happened after quite a long time between updates; but mostly I worry people aren't going to like the dark/angstyish turn the story has taken. Not a lot of pranks and nonsense going on, you know? But it is Marauder Era, so I have to go where the story takes me. ;) I love that you 'got swept up' in it. Thanks so much for reviewing and letting me know. The way things are going, without it, I might start getting 'really' paranoid. LOL I hope the next one is out soon, too. It is wearing me out. :)

Oh no! I can't believe Will died! I was convinced you would have him rescued. My favorite character.

Great chapter though. It was nice to have a perspective on the morning after in Remus's case. I do like your characterization of Dumbledore too - it is very true to the book.

Author's Response: :( Oh, dear...I'm sorry. He was your favorite? :`( I hated killing him, because I really liked him, too, but I really needed to do it, not just for gratuitous Lindi torture, either. It was necessary Lindi torture. <.< He really had to die like he did.../making excuses. Oh, I'm so glad you like my depiction of Dumbledore. I worry about him. JKR gave him such a hint of something that is just so--Dumbledoreish... I don't want to make him too stuffy, but I don't want him to be overly personal with students either, or make him comical instead of slightly eccentric, you know? I just love Dumbledore, but I don't feel I have a really good handle on writing him. So thanks for that, and thanks for reviewing. I was getting lonely. ;)

James is becoming adult at last! No wonder Lily starts to fall for him. When you talked of Lindi being zombie like, I wondered if she might have the imperious curse on her!
I am really looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Author's Response: Yes, James is growing up, and I'm seeing why Lily falls for him. I rather like James these days. ;*) haha Lindi imperioused... Ooo... I think it would be easy to do, poor dear, and I think she wouldn't have minded at all, but she was just in shock, I'm afraid. I'm feeling a little guilty about it. I really am being awfully terrible to poor Lindi. <.< But I can't help it. :(

Oh, and I remembered that I'd said in a review reply somewhere, that this chapter had been written for ages...not so. I made a liar of myself. I'm so blooming verbose that it actually got pushed back to the next chapter. :*) Not that it matters, but just in case anyone was wondering.

Anyway, thanks for reviewing again, Buckbeak22. I really appreciate it. I get the feeling this chapter isn't going over well. >.> *goes back to listening to crickets* :)

I really like the time you have chosen to write about. You don't get too many fics from this time, and so it is really interesting to see how it all works.

Author's Response: Thankyou! I love the MArauders, and the best thing is- nothing out of HBP can change it!

Excellent! I like the way that Peter's silence and Dumbledore's words combined have made him feel like a spy rather than someone who was forced to hand over plans. I feel very sorry for him. I think this is a very believable leadup to his betrayal of James, whilst at the same time sympathetic and understanding. The portrayal of Moony after his transformation is also very descriptive and compassionate. I am really enjoying this.

Author's Response: I'm glad you are enjoying my fic, and that you feel that my explanation for his betrayal makes sense. I really hate it when author's leave him out, or just make him 'turn evil' and then ignore him! So I'm glad you feel sorry for him. Not for long, though. Hopfully later on you will hate him!

This is a very good story, about a very difficult time. You manage to make the whole debacle seem far more credible. I also have a lot more sympathy for Peter. I also like the way you credit Sirius with all facets of his personality, rather than just the devil-may-care lady-killer. You captured the dangerous side of him that is all too often overlooked. The only tiny quibble I have (you did ask for constructive criticism) is that I am not sure Sirius would have minded Moony being a werewolf to the extent that he would complain to Dumbledore. I can imagine him saying that he would "track it down and exterminate it at the next full moon", or something equally as outrageous, but going to Dumbledore might have seemed a bit tame to him. On the other hand, I think that you are right in suspecting that of all three of them, he would have had the severest reaction to Lupin's secret. After all, he was the antithesis to his family, and because of them found Dark creatures abhorrent. Congratulations on a very well written and thought out story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Author's Response: Thankyou for your kind comments! I'm extremely glad that you have enjoyed reading my work. I understand what you mean about Sirius. I think what I wrote came out wrong, so I will be changing it. I did not intend for Sirius to complain to Dumbledore about Remus, as Remus was a dear friend of his. now that I have thought about it, though, I still think that Sirius would have gone to visit Dumbledore, but more to seek confirmation that what he had been told was true, Dumbleledore being the ultimate authority figure who coud negate what he did not want to believe. Thankyou for highlighting that problem! I love concrit! Thankyou for your thoughtful review!

Beautiful. You make Hermione come alive, and the chapter is sorrowful and plaintive in almost a reflective manner. It is like being in a Pensieve!
