I have been a huge Harry Potter fan since I was eleven and first read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because the first book wasn't in at the school library. I have always enjoyed reading fan fiction, but I was never sure if I really wanted to write my own or not. However, I had a few ideas for stories, so I decided to try it out. I hope you enjoy!

I'm also participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.org) this November. My username on there is mariacsteinmetz, send me a NaNomail if you're on too! The more the merrier, especially with NaNo! : )

When Moody's Eyeball Popped Out by DragonDi

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Remus tries to make sense of a mission gone wrong by asking Sirius about it. Bad idea. Very, very bad idea.

Hilarious story! I was cracking up the whole time! Very true to character, I can totally see this happening during the first war.

Author's Response: I'm glad it made you laugh! Even better, I'm glad you thought I nailed the characterisations. Thanks for reading and letting me know what you thought!

No Contest by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:
Sunshine spilled down onto the small grassy spot through a window in the tall trees. She stood a couple of yards back, staring at eleven letters cut into rock. It was beautiful, and yet, to Hermione’s eyes, nowhere near a worthy enough tribute for a life so full of rambunctious joy.

Really beautiful story...I had tears in my eyes when Hermione and George were talking.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much. I'm glad to know you could connect with it. :)

Through Different Eyes by hogwartsbookworm

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Formerly titled 'From Wading to Redemption.'

Ron leaves. Ron returns. Ron saves me from Malfoy Manor. Ron and I descend together into the Chamber of Secrets. And, finally, Ron Weasley comes to understand S.P.E.W.

You've heard Harry's side of those stories -- but don't you want to hear my side?

Hermione's Point of View. Based on events in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

EDIT: This story, which was written almost a year ago, is undergoing a sort of Spring Cleaning. In other words, I am revising and resubmitting the chapters to take care of the things that now make me cringe. Rereads and new Reviews are welcome!

Really well done missing moments, you write really well from Hermione's POV, it definitely sounds like her...I especially like the Chamber of Secrets part and the ending here was funny and good.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.

A Fireside Chat by Quillwork1313

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Excerpt from chapter 2:

Suddenly, he heard a rustling, cracking noise. His eyes snapped open, and he saw a young man sitting to his right, prodding the fire with a stick. For a moment, he thought it was Ron and he opened his mouth to ask him how he had snuck up on him. But just then, the man turned his head toward him, and it was not Ron.

George jumped up, startled so fiercely that he drew his wand, pointing it at the last of his brothers he had expected to see.

This was a great "missing moment" from Deathly Hallows. The characters all seemed true to canon and George saying good-bye to Fred definitely got me a little teary-eyed. Good story!

Taking Direction by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: What if the characters in the Harry Potter films were portrayed—not by actors—but by the book versions of themselves, as created by Rowling? How might things unfold on that set? What would the characters think of the changes made from the stories they’d already lived out… to the ones written for the script?

This fic is a series of one-shots, posted as chapters, each from the perspective of a different character who is dealing with the changes occurring between the book and the script.

Holy Movie Canon, Batman! This fic won the 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award for Best Chaptered Humor Story. Thanks so, so much!

Date: 08/31/11 Title: Chapter 3: Saving It for Seven

I love the idea for this story! It's really funny and all the characters seem canon, this seems like what would happen if they were forced to play themselves to the movie scripts. Good stuff!

Author's Response: I'm glad you thought it was funny and that the characters seemed right. Thanks for the review!

Tales of the Battle by Northumbrian

Reviewer: Arial Felchem Signed
Date: 09/01/11 Title: Chapter 14: Bad Faith

I have to admit, I loved Draco getting beat up by various Weasleys, not just Ron.

Author's Response: When I decided to try to chart Draco’s movements after his rescue from the Room of Requirement by Harry, via Ron’s thump, to the Great Hall, I wasn’t certain how this would go. It wasn’t until I’d roughed out “Snakeslayer” that this idea formed. -N-

I don't usually read much HP poetry, but your stuff I really like, this one in particular, I think it really sums up Hermione and Harry's relationship in a nice way.

What They Deserve by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:

For someone who 'missed the screaming', Argus Filch was in his element the day the Carrows set foot into Hogwarts. Who knew that his kindred spirit had been walking the halls of the school for years already?

And it wasn't even Mrs Norris.

Reviewer: Arial Felchem Signed
Date: 09/07/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

I have to admit that this story kind-of made me laugh. It's really horrible that Filch and Madam Pince are just sitting there listening to a student being tortured, but the fact that they're just sitting there sipping tea while it's happening was a bit funny; it seems sadly in character for them. This seems like a very canon type of scene that actually would have taken place while the Carrows were running Hogwarts. Good story.

Author's Response:

You would not *believe* the amount of angst writing this story generated. I got the prompt for a Filch/Pince, quasi-romantic story for a fic exchange, and no matter how I churned it in my brain, everything just seemed so overtly horrible. I'm actually happy with the end result, but oh my, it could've been bad, lol. I'm glad you like it.

The Golden Boy by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: "Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory." ***

The night Cedric died, four people reacted in very different ways. Here are their stories.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the 2011 Aprils Fools' Day Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt # 3 - Trio Era.

IT WON ITS SECTION _ YAY!!!!!!

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. I doubt I could write anything as moving as Cedric's death.

A HUGE thank you to Natalie (hestiajones) and Gina (gmariam) who have beta'd this into submission. This really would not have made it without their help.

Nominated for two QSQ's in Dark/Angsty and Best General Story in 2011. Thank you very much.

oooo good chapter! I love the idea of Neville stumbling into the chambers from Sorcerer's Stone. Can't wait to learn what he'll see in the Mirror of Erised! The part where they learn about Luna was really well done, too, Neville's reaction seemed very true to his character.

Wolf in Friend's Clothing by AngelMoon Girl

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •

You Don’t Use Your Eyes, Do You? by Hermione Jane

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •

Reviewer: Arial Felchem Signed

Loved this story! It sounded very believably like Ron. I liked the use of "Blimey" at the end of the Malfoy Manor entry, it was surprisingly powerful. The mix of humor and heart was very well done in this story. I liked the third year entries especially, the groveling part was funny.

Moving Ginny by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: After her brother's Potter-assisting activities are discovered by Death Eaters, Ginny's Easter holiday take a bit of a sour turn.

A missing moment from Deathly Hallows

I'm not J.K. Rowling, which should be obvious as soon as you being reading. Haha.
Reviewer: Arial Felchem Signed
Date: 08/18/11 Title: Chapter 1: one-shot

This was a good fill-in to a missing moment in the story...I just wish it was a little bit longer, it would have been cool to see the continuation of the conversation into the house with the rest of the family, and Auntie Muriel's reaction to them all moving in.

Author's Response: I really like to imagine little missing moments from the canon we already have from JKR. *shrug* I'm glad so many liked it enough to be asking for more, but this was just a little glimpse. To be honest, Ginny isn't my favorite character to write, which is why I took the class (on the beta boards) where this drabble was assigned to begin with. I just enjoy filling in the occasional blanks. Glad you liked what there was of this--thanks for taking the time to review. :) ~ Lori
