Reading the Stars by UnnamedElement

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: One thing can tear a person apart. One thing can kill a person, in a sense, yet they still live on. But one person can also fix a person. They can bring someone once dead, back to life. After the final battle, there’s a lot of this to be done, especially in those close to the deceased. The trio loses someone, and Hermione’s not coping well. Can someone crack her shell? Who will make her whole again—or at least try to do so? Written for Redemption Challenge. Hufflepuff. One-shot.

Well, what can I say? It was definitely cute. *chuckles* I would never have thought of Tonks doing the redeeming, particularly for Hermione. So for choosing a rare choice, I applaud you. It was pulled off well.

One thing I bristled at was when Tonks started talking as Remus would. It was odd to find her talking like the Professor, but since you acknowledged that this was her trying to act as Remus might (to put Hermione at ease, perhaps?), it works. Without that explanation of Tonks trying to get inside Remus' psychology for dealing with people, I might have considered it OOC.

Again, a very cute story. I liked it. Good work, and good luck.

Author's Response: Yes, I was a bit concerned about the reaction to the use of Tonks using Remus' techniques, but I thought it would work out. And yes, it was supposed to make Hermione feel as if everything was in order, because that's how she thinks, I guess. I'll try to be a bit clearer next time. Thank you so much for the constructive review! You have no idea how much I appreciate those. Cheers~
