The Unseemly Proposal by sparx

Summary: The reign of Voldermort comes to an end, and with it ends the prestige and power Lucius Malfoy once had in the Wizarding World. In order to regain the respect of his fellow wizards and to make them believe that he has turned over a new leaf (which he actually hasn't) and has graciously accepted muggles and Mudbloods, Lucius asks Hermione, a Mudblood, to marry his son, Draco, a pure-blood. Obviously, they both refuse, but Lucius isn't going to give up easily. After all, he wants his status back. He still has a few tricks up his sleeve and is determined to play match-maker. What happens next is a series of events that serve only to bring Hermione and Draco closer, both literally and figuratively speaking. Grr.. I think this is ridiculous! (Not you of course, the mods' timing of moddiing a story.) I mean I know they said it might take a little while but this is not just any ordinary, throw-away, good-for-no-part-of-the-story line- chapter! This must be a very good chapter, just like all of the others. I can't imagine it being anything otherwise. ::Sigh::... Whenever Chapter Eighteen is up I'll probably jump for joy. I love this story SO much, it's tied with number one of my all-time favorite fan fictions =]. I'm sure you've heard this many times but you're such an awesome writer and I can't wait to hear more! Are you going to start a new fic after you're finished with this one? Well, otherwise I also have to say this: this pace in this story is going so realistically. It's not too slow or too fast. It's perfect; exactly right! I don't know anyone who could've done it better. (Um... no offense to other people... lol...) But really, I mean most Draco/Hermione fics I read land Draco and Hermione together in less than the fifth chapter! It is either that or they are like already noticing each other in the first chapter, which I just don't understand. Well, once again, awesome story and like I said before I could just sit here and read and read and read and read it over and over (x infinity) again! And I could just go on and on and on and on about how shockingly fabulous this fan fiction is. But I won't, unfortunately, because I am seriously getting annoyed because there is some kind of squeaking noise every time you press the space bar! OMG.. talk about annoying the heck out of people... darn... Well, ten as usual...

Yes, I will be starting on a new fic once I'm done with this one. I have a couple of ideas, and not only jus for the Draco/Hermione section. I’ll be writing for other ships as well.
I'm glad to know that the pace of things between Draco and Hermione are suitable for you. The pace will probably pick up soon, but one step at a time. I guess I have the same rationale as you do— I can’t imagine Draco and Hermione, being bitter enemies as Hmeschooler said, falling in love so quickly. But I guess different writers have different ways of presenting their stories, so that’s up to them.

Jeez, I just can't seem to think of all the brilliant adjectives to suit this lovely, beautiful piece of art! Brialliant, Lovely, Amazing, Charming, Beautiful, Fabulous, Fantastic, Wonderful, Eye-Catching, etc. etc. etc.. The list could go on... and on... and on... and on... and you get the point, don't you? I hope you recover soon so that all of us can enjoy the next dose of your loverly fanfic! Even the title caught my eye, which I think is why I started reading this in the first place! I think this story definitely deserves a big fat 10! Omg, the end was such a cliffhanger! I feel SOOOOOO (x infinity) bad for Hermione and even Draco! That was so unfair, and I bet Lucius will be like "yeah okay right..." and ignoring them. That was so clever of the person who invented that idea! Everyone finding out and the information getting to - who, of all people? - Lucius! I wonder what he's gonna say... oOoO... Talk about suspense...

Jinx raised an eyebrow, or at least what looked like an eyebrow on her small face. “Honey, even if the lowest scumbag in this world was drunk senseless,” she said as she skimmed over the piece of clothing Hermione had on, “there was no way in hell he would think that you look sexy in that.”" lmao. you're the best writer. can't wait for more.

Date: 10/17/05 Title: Chapter 21: Chapter 21- Patrolling Hogsmeade
Oh.... my.... gosh...that was SO good that I can't think of how I will even START to explain its greatness! First of all, I read your updated personal information, and of course I accept that you won't be updating for a little while. My homework and projects are also very consistent, so yes I understand! (=. Also, I'm really happy that this new chapter came out as soon as I checked, lol. I hadn't checked the chapter the first day it came out because I didn't have the time, but when I did, I started freaking out as usual. Well, onto the story. The dreadful patrolling of Hogsmeade, heh. ----“Poor Draco,” Pansy said in a baby voice. “With the company you’ll be having, you're going to be so bored." “Well at least today’s company is going to be more intellectual than usual,” Hermione mimicked in Pansy’s baby voice. Then her eyes widened when she realized what she had done. Since when did Hermione go around mimicking people? And of all people Pansy Parkinson? To her surprise, she heard Draco chuckle. A rather stifled, muffled chuckle that he covered up as a cough, but nevertheless, it was a chuckle. She was sure of it. She had heard it and apparently she was the only one.---- That's amazing. That was really well-written, and later on how Draco tells Hermione that all the Slytherin girls don't dare to talk about Pansy -- well I know a lot of girls that if you talk about them, they'll like hunt you down... haha... well, I can relate to that, so that's a good sign. Umm also, I really think it's quite attractive that Hermione is acting more like, not exactly a Slytherin, but.. an intelligent, sarcastic, but caring Slytherin. She's adopting some of Draco's traits and I really think that's important, well, of COURSE it is! Heh. The entire Hogsmeade scene was written extremely well, I can't even begin to tell you how good it was. All of the grins, looks, smirks, remarks, etc, and the chocolate, were amazing. It really would be how you interacted with an enemy if you had to get to know them and be... well, stuck with them. The paragraphs about Hermione suggesting with no sense that they could live together with their own husband and wife, if the Love Knot never came off, and Draco's commenting about his wife and her husband 'getting it on', was hilarious. Really witty, lol! I like how sarcastic Hermione is being. It adds to her 'attractive Malfoy-like character' as I would call it. And I think it was rather sweet when Hermione choked on the butterbeer and Draco helped her. Oh and I like how out of nowhere, when everything seems normal, Lucius and Narcissa come and make the worst..?? out of everything they see. =). AWESOME chapter, I can't wait for 22 and I don't care how long it will be, I mean of course I care but I'll certainly give you time! I'm a writer too and I know how hard it can be when people pressure you.. sorry if I ever seemed like it :D. Oh, and I'll try to think of some ideas you could use! if I based your rating on a scale of 1-10, I couldn't even fit it on the scale. I love your story. You're so amazing.
Author's Response: Awww, thanks Everlasting! I'm glad you understand that homework’s piling high! It’s really quite trouble-some trying to do everything at once. It might mean that I don’t put in my best for a particular task. Anyways, I'm glad you finally read it! And I'm glad you liked that bit. What better is that you could actually relate to one of the situations in the story, which is just fantastic! It means that you really do understand what I'm trying to say and that it can make sense to the other readers. Yes, lots of people have pointed out that Hermione’s taking on very subtle Slytherin characteristics. But let me just tell you, it’s not only going to be a one-sided change. Man, thank you Everlasting. That’s really nice of you. And that’s a good word, “attractive Malfoy-like character”. Yes, Lucius Malfoy seems to have a habit of making things worse than they already are. Again, thanks for understanding and giving me time! I really need it. No, no, not at all! You've never given me any sort of pressure. I've always loved to write and update for you guys. But at this point, I really cannot. Some ideas from you would be good! Very well done! 10. It may not be the longest chapter I've read in a fic or the best title I've seen, but nonetheless it is very awesome. Very original, too. I never even thought about the Dursleys welcoming an American student at their house. But don't you think the Dursleys are being a bit...nice, I guess? 10.
Author's Response: Yea, i see the dursleys are being a bit 'nice', to be honest i dont know why i have them being so nice, but i thought it was the best way to introduce adrianna and have it involve the dursleys in some way.

Hahaha that was a great story! really clever, i loved the whole plot. you really kept me reading :D and i loved this part - Malfoy pushed his way through the crowd and saw a pile of the most random things imaginable sitting beside the fireplace. First he noticed what looked like a blanket that had a pair of pants lying of top of it, very similar to those worn by Neville Longbottom. His eyes then fell on a cupcake (with a bite taken out of it), a quill, three books, a picture frame holding a picture of Hermione Granger (?), seven left shoes, a toad, and a rather ugly hat. - I laughed so hard, hahahh :D
