A Different Kind of Love by Nymphea

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: James gives Lily a letter on the last day of sixth year:
I’m going to be perfectly honest with you—I’m not that good with feelings. I usually just ask Remus; he’s pretty good with that sort of thing. But I can’t ask Remus to write this letter for me, so you’re just going to have to bear with me while I set the record straight before the school year ends and I forget how to describe my feelings about things between us. [2000 reads! thanks guys!]

This is a wonderful little story. Is it a one off? It works beautifully. I love the contrast between the old James's boisterous, overloud love, and his calm, quiet love. Very understated, and very lovely.

Author's Response: Yes, it was written to be just one chapter. I\'m so glad you were struck by that contrast; it\'s something I think is underrepresented in fanfiction. Thank you so much for your kind comments and for reviewing!

I'll Pick You Up by MagEd

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: “Guilt brings people together. It’s a takes one to know one type thing.”

James Potter has always been a spoiled, arrogant, lazy show-off. When he enters his final year at Hogwarts School, he’s Head Boy . . . and he’s still a spoiled, arrogant, lazy, show-off. But because of that terrible summer, he’s also guilt-ridden.

Lily Evans has always been a self-righteous, impatient, temperamental know-it-all. When she begins her last year at Hogwarts, she’s Head Girl . . . and still a self-righteous, impatient, temperamental know-it-all. But the first night back — and the murder that takes the entire school by surprise — leave her guilt-ridden as well.

With the darkness that’s surrounding the Wizarding world slowly seeping, at long last, onto the grounds of Hogwarts and into the lives of James Potter and Lily Evans, what comes next?

This was amazing. I spent the entirety of the past three days reading this story. By the end I was sobbing. I hadn't realised how much I cared until Harry met Cassie and I completely broke down. BRAVO! One of the best fanfics, one of the best Lily/James stories I have ever read.
