Night Terrors by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: In their seventh year at Hogwarts, every student has only one thing on their mind: NEWTs. And Quidditch. And bickering friends. And people who are mysteriously locked away in the hospital wing... Or maybe Nymphadora Tonks and Charlie Weasley are just having a particularly unusual term.

Anything that you recognise, including names, spells, potions, and Quidditch moves, belongs to either JKR or the copyright holders of various HP games and other media.

A million thanks must be sent to Carole/Equinox Chick, whithout whom I'm not sure I'd have a story. She's a fabulous beta and one of the best people that I have ever known.

Also lots of thanks to Natalie/hestiajones for reading the first chapters and especially for making me see that they needed work!

Aaaand many many thanks and hugs to Hannah/coolh5000 for being a really fantastic friend and always encouraging me.

Tendrils by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: When Narcissa Malfoy gives birth to her son, Lucius should be overjoyed. Instead, his wife is being swallowed by a darkness that he doesn't know how to fight, and the life they have built might yet be lost.

This is Karaley Dargen of Gryffindor submitting my entry for Rosmerta's Mini-Gauntlet being held in The Three Broomsticks over at the MNFF beta boards.

Dumbledore's Army - Still Flying by Karaley Dargen, muggle girl marauder, minnabird, the opaleye

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Life at Hogwarts is all but cheerful under the Carrows' reign. One of the changes that hurts the students worst, some even worse than torture, is the ban on Quidditch. Dumbledore's Army wouldn't be themselves, though, if they didn't find a way to bring some life back to the castle, even if it only lasts a couple of hours. But can even the best of matches wipe away mistrust and resentment?

This story was written by the Incaff Military Athletic Division for the 2011 Quidditch World Cup on the Beta Boards. It won, too! Our alternate was hestiajones.

Many thanks to the referees, who set this wonderfully inspiring prompt that gave us weeks of drabbling-frenzied fun. The prompt for this match was:

"One Last Match: When Harry was on his extended camping trip, I don’t think his thoughts extended much to Quidditch, but for those at Hogwarts it did. Under the new regime, however, the sport was banned. For the pupils at Hogwarts, this became a focal point of rebellion. They decide to play one last match, an inter-house match, in the spirit of Dumbledore’s Army. The two teams will not be from one house but a mixture."

The Unbreakable Curse by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: In 1993, Bill Weasley is working on a tomb in Egypt with a team of Magiarchaeologists and Curse-Breakers. It is a job like any other ... or so it seems, until members of the expedition start dying, and Bill has to race against time to figure out what exactly it is that they awakened in the tomb of Mentuhotep, and how it can be stopped before it reaches him.

The following are characters from JKR’s creations: Bill Weasley, Ragnok, Agatha Chubb (QttA), and the last names of Deverill and Pilliwickle. I don’t own them and never will!

I owe a large debt to Hannah (coolh5000), Carole (EquinoxChick), and Natalie (hestiajones) for their constant encouragement and help at various stages of this story.

Fair Warning: Some of the reviews (naturally) contain spoilers, especially those towards the end. So if you want to be safe, don't read those before you read the story.

This story just WON a 2012 QSQ Award in the General category, as best chaptered story. THANK YOU!!!

Carpe Diem by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Carrie McKinnon, soon-to-be seventh year Hufflepuff, is not going to let the war get her down. However, it is going to affect her in one way or another – and maybe that's a good thing.

Sirius/OC

This is for Carole/EquinoxChick, and much less than she deserves. You are an incredible, magnificent person, and I still completely fangirl you. If I ever get close to what you are/have now, just talent-wise and with all the ideas you always have, I'd be happy. I really admire you and what you do a lot, so don't ever change.

Muchas muchas Gracias to Nat/hestiajones for helping me out, event though she should have been in bed.

Too Rash With the Rash by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Molly Prewett and her best friend Lucy have had enough of Bellatrix Black, and so have dozens of other students. If the two girls played a prank on Bella-Cruella, as students call her when she can't hear them, they would certainly go down in Hogwarts' secret history of famous pranksters.

Their plan is easy and foolproof until another Gryffindor decides that he has been pushed around for too long, and takes a step that everyone will regret in the end.

This was originally written for the April Monthly Challenge in TTB, but turned out.. a bit too long. This is the longer, and in my opinion, much better version.

A billion thanks to Natalie for being a fantastic beta and friend!

Letters of a Love Past by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Even as a grown woman, Parvati Patil still has a small box that holds her memories. A fraction of the countless letters she received from her best friend (and copies of the letters she sent her) and notes passed between them at school are in there too - and even a page of the diary she hardly ever used.

One part of those old letters are the only reminder of Parvati's first love; a love never openly admitted to, and a love never requited.

Friends and Family by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: A snippet taken from a Sunday Prophet of December 2000.

The aftermath of the Battle marked some of the darkest hours for Charlie Weasley and his family. But just when he can't possibly think of how to find happiness again, a chance encounter might light the way.

This is Karaley Dargen from Gryffindor, writing for the Winter Snows ’09 prompt Stirring.

From the prompt: “Stirring (a column with a self-stirring cauldron as an icon) is the Sunday edition’s main feature. In it, readers can contribute their own inspiring anecdotes.”

Thank you, Emma (Amortentia x), for betaing this story for me :)

Also, I'm not JKR. GASP!

Take Me Far Away by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: In his school years, Remus Lupin became known as a "bookworm": Where he went, he usually went with something to read. But those weren't textbooks, as many of his fellow students originally thought – they were books of great adventures, of other worlds, that drew him in and let him forget about his worries.

But how did this boy grow to love, even to need books so much? When Remus Lupin was a child, there was little he could do; his overprotective father never let him go outside on his own, and least of all was he allowed to play with other children. But he had other friends – he had his books, to take him far away, to different places.

Until one day, a stranger arrives at the Lupins' doorstep, and he might not need his books to find a different world anymore after all.

The End by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks both died alone; their friends would never know the story of their last breaths.

Here is, at least, the tale of the death of one of them. Tonks is looking everywhere for her husband, but in the end she will have to face the terrible truth and her own fate...

The Marauder's Map - A Beginning by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: On a lazy Saturday afternoon in their fifth year, two of the Marauders are staying inside talking – while the other two are outside and get an idea. Why not make a map of Hogwarts? It would certainly make their nightly wanderings easier, and who knows what could be done with a piece of parchment...

This is Karaley Dargen of Gryffindor writing for the final in the MWPP class on the beta boards.

Dead and Gone by Karaley Dargen, padfootsgirl1981

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: After the First War, wizards and witches everywhere were celebrating. But there were still losses, and deaths to be mourned; and in the end, there were more similarities between the good and the bad guys than one might like to think.

Molly Weasley had two brothers, who fought Voldemort and paid with their lives. She always thought that all what happened was horrible, but she never thought it would happen to her own family. And now, people everywhere are celebrating, and hardly anyone thinks of all the heroes that died anymore.

Avery was a Death Eater. He watched many people suffer and die, and never cared - until his friends die for Voldemort’s cause. And now, people everywhere are celebrating, and no one thinks of all the brave and good men the other side had lost.

This is padfootsgirl1981 of Hufflepuff and Karaley Dargen of Gryffindor submitting for the Interhouse Co-Op Challenge in the Great Hall.

Who Would Have Thought by Karaley Dargen

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: When the War is over and Voldemort defeated, Lily Evans suddenly finds herself with no plans left. She decides to go to a dragon reservation for a year to find some distraction and maybe finally make a decision for her future. But who would have thought that Lily might find something precious there?
