I never expected myself to write fanfiction in the Potterverse, because I always took canon at face value - there's a reason it was called canon, I supposed.

Another reason, I supposed, was deeming myself not worthy.

Then Severus Snape happened to me. In many ways, more than I could possibly understand at the time.

Now there's one fic posted and several at various stages, and all I can say is - he just keeps happening. For which I am grateful. And the more I walk, or rather, stumble through the tangled web that is his mind, I keep getting more questions than answers. Needless to say, I do not tire of professing my love of him because of that. That man is a writer's dream.

At the risk of being accused of conceit (one tends to become very mindful of that after spending time in Severus' company), I must say that I am rather proud of having my first fic finished and completely posted. The only thing that can make me happier still is learning other authors' and readers' opinions on it.

Oh, and if you've read it, please drop by my corner now and then, as there will be updates in the form of one-shots, and a new chaptered fic (not a sequel, though) is coming along nicely (or at least, as nicely as anything that involves our dearest Professor can be).

The Next Best Thing by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: What a ridiculous way to die. If there is one thing about my predicament that is making it even more laughable, it is the fact that I am still alive.
It has been a year since the night that Severus Snape spent in the Shrieking Shack, awaiting death that would not come. A year that seemed long, passed quickly, yet should not have come to pass at all. One can come to terms with the idea of there being a due time for one's death. But what one does do when the predetermined, awaited and eagerly expected end fails to arrive?

Dear Mods, this fic has been previously deleted by mistake and is in the process of restoration. I have been granted permission by Deanine to submit two chapters at a time. Thank you!

Justify by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:

I believed it would justify the means...
It had a hold over me...

Within Temptation,
The Truth Beneath The Rose

Under the greying November skies, he is thinking. Does the end always justify the means? Does it ever?

This is an entry for the Gryffindor In-House Challenge - A Banner for Thee, by Elmindreda of the respective house.

Dear Mods,
Thank you for the super-swift validation!

Remember Me Fondly by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: They say that before death, one's life passes in front of one's eyes. For Lily, one particular moment surfaces. Of the one she promised to remember. Of the one who promised to remember her. But seems to have forgotten.

This is an entry for the Gryffindor In House Challenge 'A Banner for Thee', by Elmindreda of (obviously) Gryffindor.

Keep Her Safe by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: 'Keep her - them - safe. Please.'
'And what will you give me in return, Severus?'
'In - in return?'
...
'Anything.'

(DH, chapter 33)

Severus walks home after the fateful meeting on the hilltop. It is a long walk. A long and thoughtful one.
This is the Final for the Marauder Era class, by Elmindreda of Gryffindor.

Dear Mods, I would be eternally grateful if this could be validated before the 31st of July.

Fifteen by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Every year, Severus finds himself writing a class plan for a subject he believes he will never teach. However, it has become a ritual of sorts, and rituals must be observed.

This was an entry for the Summer Challenge in the Educational Decree category... and won second place!

Tendrils of Mist by MissyQuill, Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: "Just as well you never expected life to be fair, or you would have been in for one heck of a disappointment."

What good can possibly come out of meetings that could not be reasonably expected, guests that are less than welcome, and coincidences that are considerably less likely than a rational mind could estimate?.. Severus will have to find an answer to this question - and many more.

A Gauntlet entry written by MissyQuill and Elmindreda of Gryffindor. Awarded third place!

With lots of gratitude to Hannah, our wonderful guide! (On whose nerves we have been collectively getting throughout the whole duration of the Gauntlet...)

Monochrome by Elmindreda

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Black and white. Two perfect colors to form a perfect world. Or at least, so has he thought for almost twenty-two years. One color would always intrude... one way or another.

I am Elmindreda of Gryffindor, and this is my submission for Color of Loss challenge.

Side Effects by Elmindreda

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: There is something Severus needs to take care of before heading to the staff room on Christmas Eve.

A Christmas one-shot.

Warnings: unseasonal sarcasm resulting in the mention of suicidal tendencies as part of a psychological portrait.

Episkey by Elmindreda

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: A quiet evening is about to turn considerably less so, as Severus Snape has a visitor he could not pretend to have not expected, and would never admit to have dreaded...
