The ICW was moving in on Austria for their increasingly restricting laws being levied against Muggle-born witches and wizards – Percy still thought it was pretty disgusting that they hadn’t said a thing about his new law; he really hoped he wouldn’t have to resort to stronger measures to get their attention….
ICW…I’m guessing “International Council of Wizardry” or something like that. Is this just a publicity stunt, then? Hm….

A rather peculiar case of a drunken post owl – poor thing was in Belgium now, recovering.
Ha ha! Belgium? Definitely gillywater appears to be bad for owls.

A pause – “She’s gonna go mental!”

Then – “This is not funny, you two!”

I
think it is.

Ron deserves to fall in love, someday, and be happy.” She shook her head slightly, “besides,” she said determinedly, “I don’t think the situation is beyond my ability to handle.”
Interesting. She’s taking a much more rational approach than I would have expected. “Beyond her ability to handle” – as if she’s ready to handle marriage!

He noticed, with a sinking feeling in his gut, that the red haired boy had only written about three inches in the last two hours. He began surreptitiously scanning the room for possible cover.
Someone angry this way comes….

Hey, and the beautiful part of it was that cockroaches survive anything, so she could step on him again, and again…

Apparently, Hermione was one of these, for all that she was now over twenty.
Ah. I wondered – you suggested that a lot of time had passed, but that works nicely.

Oh. Goyle. Yes. That would complicate things. It couldn’t have been that easy, I suppose. I’m a bit too dumbstruck to laugh; you set me up nicely. I had a vague idea that something else seemed a little off, but – this was not what I was looking for!

It appeared that the cavalry had arrived, and its name was Ronald Weasley.

I really was not planning on writing such long reviews, but I can’t help it. I’ll come back later and finish this story. I haven’t found anything new and amusing for some time, and this is very much both!

Author's Response: You've spoiled me with all your lovely reviews, you really have *hugs*

I love hearing that readers enjoy my rather dry humour - because I've never really considered myself funny at all!

Ah, acting under the influence of alcohol :P What a marvellously stupid thing to do!

I like the opening a lot – both opening sections, really. It gives a good look at Oliver’s personality and the impact of the War, on both the populace and the Ministry. I’m interested to find out more about the Death Eaters and – I guess Voldemort’s half-disappeared again? – all of that.

George pulled a grin out of his pocket, and turned to Oliver with a gleam in his green eyes.
I like the phrasing. “Pulled a grin out of his pocket.” And then the gleam, so it wasn’t just a fake grin.

Quotes:
The conversation had wandered from the politics of the pub, to the barmaid that served them (by the end of the second hour all three were convinced she could have been a model, if she had only wanted to).

…George had insisted they give it a drink to send it off (“It’s cold out there, Ollie. Just a drop to keep ‘im warm, eh?”)

If Oliver had consumed even slightly less alcohol that evening, maybe he would have seen just how bad an idea this probably was. The fact that it came out of Fred’s mouth would surely have be a tip-off, anyway.

Ah. So that’s why – he got drunk! I am amused. Poor Hermione, though; Oliver’s nice and it is better that it be Oliver, but he’d have taken a more…usual…route if he were himself. I can’t wait to see what he does with this.

Author's Response: Yes, alcohol is probably responsable for most of the really stupid things I've done in my life too ;-p

Thank you so much, honey!

Hi, SPEW Buddy! :D

Oooh, it’s a contract story! I’m a sucker for these *sheepish grin* I love how you pair Hermione with edge characters, and then make them likable people who are just perfect for her!

I find it fascinating how each author takes the contract idea and makes it something different. For instance, I wasn’t expecting to find that not everyone needs a contract.

…Potter’s—ally-in-the—final-war Granger had a Contract.
The formatting of the dashes is a little odd.

Percy interests me very much. He’s changed from pure ambition to doing what he really believes is best for the people, even to turning down the Minister’s position. I like that.

I’m glad (in a strange way, I suppose) that you make the lack of intermarriage a serious problem. Not just a bizarre Ministry prank, but something that could potentially unleash a pandemic – almost enough to convince me it would really work.

The last part, where Percy leads up to telling Oliver he needs to put in for a Contract, made me laugh pretty hard. Poor Oliver. He’s been off chasing wild beasts for weeks, and now he has to get married! To some girl who will probably resent him for calling a Contract on her, no less (even though I’m sure Hermione will come around soon enough).

For the second time that evening, Percy was faced with the job of calming an irate highlander.
The fainting part seemed a little unnecessary to me, but it’s still pretty funny. Next chapter!

Author's Response: Hey SPEW buddy! I have been so horrible - not responding until now... my only defense is that I've been so focused on getting the next chapter out... yeah, okay, I'm still horrible. *sheepish grin*

I have to admit, I have a secret fondness for Contract stories too - it's like a forbidden pleasure, really ;-p

I've always enjoyed pairing Hermione with the more fringe characters - I don't know why, but I get teased about it frequently *lol* Hermione/Oliver and Hermione/Seamus are probably my two faves, though I love writing Percy, too.

Thank you for the corections! I can't beleive I missed those...and yes, you;re absolutely right, the last part is a touch over the top. My only defense is that it was in all honesty, one of the first things in fanfiction that I ever wrote. If/when I ever go back and re-edit this, I will definitely be taking that bit out!

Oh no cliffie! Evil :P Can't wait to find out what happens next! Will Hermione soften even more towards Oliver? Tune in to find out! I tune in regularly. . . please don't prolong the suspense too much!

Author's Response: I'm sorry to be a little longer then intended in getting this next chapter posted, but hopefully you find it worth the wait :-)

I tell you, Ny. This might get featured. I hope so! You would surely deserve it. Maybe you should go and review and correct all your tiny spelling errors, and then voila!

Your imagery is superb as usual. And again, you inserted a mystery here. What could that be about the marten? Hmmm... Delicioso! You know how to satisfy and at the same time, bait!

Keep it up, I'll always be here to cheer you on.

~joanna

Author's Response: Why thank you Joanna :-) I actually already have several of the chapters done; I have been fortunate enough to get the help of a pair of wonderful betas. One of these days soon I will go in and replace all of the old chapters with the new, corrected versions ;-p

I'm glad the mystery is still keeping people interested, but this authoress isn't telling anything, yet.... *lol*

I've just read your story in it's entirety and am completely enraptured by it. The details and the chemistry you create btw them kept me enthralled beyond comprehension. I also love how you did the wedding so vivid it was in my mind. The kiss at the Creeling was like, indescribably cute and passionate and had me saying to myself, "Where is my Scottish man?" lol Can't wait for what you have in store for us - absolutely love it. Also love that it's not the usual stuff and fluff. xox from California

Author's Response: Thank you very much!

You're right - there doesn't seem to be enough Scottish men around, does there? *lol* It's nice to hear that my little story is being enjoyed not only inspite of the fact that it is unusualy, but because of it.

Author's Response: Wow *blushes* Thank you very, very much, honey :-)

Wow, very well done. I really enjoyed how you portrayed Hermione's feelings before the wedding scene, especially when Ginny was comforting her. That's a side of Hermione that we don't get to see very often! I also enjoyed the wedding a lot; you managed to break from the norm in terms of how you did it. The blood binding was a bit squeamish for me, but you did a great job with it, and with tieing in their different heritages. I can't wait to see the next part!

Author's Response: The nice part of writing this story has been all the different sides to some of the characters that I've been able to explore :-)

I'm glad the bloodbinding wasn't so bad as to turn you off - I tried to handle it as sensatively as possible. I don't beleive in excessive disturbing imagery, just for the sake of shock value (though , I suppose I do have to plead guilty to being gross on occasion *lol*)

Playing with all the Celtic traditions was just too much fun - I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I was so excited for this chapter. I kept checking for updates & then for it to be approved. Finally it's here! The feelings at the wedding:
exhausted (from dancing & the emotional roller coaster), slightly drunk and contentment
were all feelings I had at my wedding as well. It was neat to read something that reminded me of them. The imagery in this chapter was excellent. That said, this is an exceptionally mean cliffie. But take your time. I can imagine Hermione will blush quite a bit in the next chapter. I'll use my imagination to get me through. ;-)

Author's Response: *lol* Yes, I have to admitt, I was able to draw on my own wedding for insperation here... I had fun capturing all the craziness that is crammed into that one single day - lots of laughs, a few tears and above all - a lot of exhaustion!

I love hearing that you found it reminicent of your day as well, hon :-)

I was so happy to see that the wedding was online now! 'Twas brilliant, as I have come to expect from you. This ending was... tantalizing. Can't wait for an update!

Author's Response: High praise indeed! Thank you so much, hon :-)
