A story doesn't have to be canon compliant to be worth reading. Some of my favorite Snape fanfics are AU and have been from their beginning. Your story is still very much worth reading.

I disagree on one point though, I think it would be much more likely that Narcissa would see Draco being murdered if she had taken the potion. She cared enough about Draco to try to preserve his life by making Snape take the Unbreakable Vowto protect Draco if he could not succeed in his task and kill Dumbledore himself.. I think she's still normal enough in this story to put Draco's life above Bellatrix. She may care in her way about what happens to Belltrix, but she has shown enough maternal instinct to put Draco first.

You're probably right about her greatest fear being her son getting hurt. But she said that about Bellatrix because of her anger toward Snape for whatever he did to her.

Oh my, Camilla does know how to get the information she needs doesn’t she? When all else fails, invoke the name of the man who killed Dumbledore.
Knowing he can’t be helped and being steadily pushed out of the room must be hard. But she should stand right there at the door until they allow her back in. Not go running off, and hide from the reality of the situation. The fear and nausea, and the resultant weakness is to be expected in a situation like that, but I repeat, she should stay and wait.
Harry and Ginny are at odds on what to think about Severus, but I agree with Harry. If Severus gave them the chance to do what needed to be done then he should be there. Ginny is feeling the effects of apparently losing Hermione and a brother, and not feeling inclined to be magnanimous. I wonder what Harry thinks he can do to save Severus. Whatever it is I hope he’s in time.
That potion looks familiar. Is it the same one that Dumbledore drank in the cave? If it is I really hope Harry found out the antidote.

Author's Response: Yeah, Snape's name is pretty powerful right now. He's feared in the Wizarding world. Camilla is rightly freaking out at this point. She feels helpless and is terrified for him. It's almost as if she's having an anxiety attack and she wants to run away so she can breathe. Don't worry; she won't leave him. She'll be there, no matter what. All I can say about the potion is that you are very perceptive...

wow- i found this yesterday and i stayed up all night reading it (went to be at 5 in the morning)! it was great- i loved it, even if u were a bit evil sometimes! i guess i love everything about this story... except maybe that camilla seems to be crying almost all the time... i totally understand, though- but it just seems like she's always extremely sad (and i can see why she might be- don't get me wrong!). anyways- i loved it, can't wait for the rest of it! thx so much
