Reviews For Taking Direction

Really funny fic! Naturally, Ron and Hermione have to have an argument over the Lavender scene. In particular loved Ron's line about Harry being atrocious around girls. The Dumbledore line about attacking another student was priceless! (I may love the films, but GoF definitely fell short of the mark, and the notorious 'Angrydore' scene is about the only change I find absolutely unforgivable.) Kerp up the good work!

Encore!
I'd love to know how Peeves feels about being written out entirely. And what does Molly think about 'not my daughter you bitch'. Which Dumbledore is the 'real' Dumbledore?

Hey! I just want you to know that even though I haven't checked out mugglenet fanfiction in several months, I still came back to see if there were any more chapters added to this story (it was hilarious and memorable!) Hope you keep doing what you do! (That is my not-so-subtle way of being annoying and asking if there is more to come?) :) --sincerely, your fan! :) ps--I think there is definitely scope to publish this..!!

Great tale - really innovative and cool. I've read nothing else like it before!

Author's Response: Thanks! :)

It is worth noting that, like the Sectumsempra ear, it is possible that since the fire was set by dark magic, it was impossible to extinguish it directly. The fact that the overall structure of the house was not damaged indicates that this is correct; that the fire was entirely magical not natural. The thing that annoys me more about this scene is that Greyback is capable of a sufficiently good Shield Charm to stop Harry's spell.

Author's Response: Hmm, I guess that's possible, but there's no indication it's anything but regular fire. They certainly try to control it at the beginning of the scene when Harry first runs out of the house. Fiendfire seems to have a mind of its own, and is extremely agressive and out of control. IT's not pictured as anything like that in the film, but you could be right. Either way, they should have either addressed the fact that the fire was undistinguishable, because without that, the bunch of them still look ridiculous holding their wands passively watching it burn.

Can't tell what you thought of the fic, but I certainly appreciate you reading and reviewing! :)

Haha, I just looked up the clip. Shoelaces...... Hehe.

Author's Response: Glad you found it. I must say, it is perhaps my biggest pet peeve from the films. Canon Ginny would never have done that, imo. Thanks for reading!

Why shoelace?

Author's Response: :)

Feel free to keep flogging away at that scene - it deserves every lashing!

Oh! And will the DH offerings have anything to do with Ron standing calmly about while Hermione is being tortured? *Hated* that part. I cringed the entire time.

cj

Author's Response: Yeah, they really did tone down Ron a lot in the last films, and I hated it. Not just because it isn't what happens, and it does take something away from the who Ron is, but because I'm convinced Rupert Grint could have handled it all and really done it justice. The bit in the cellar with Hermione being tortured is bad, but I think even worse for me is the emotional stuff between Ron and Harry after Ron destroys the locket. Ron was sobbing, and Harry talked to him about Hermione and they hugged. Instead, Yates gives us a one-liner from Ron. Wow.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much I will use that stuff... probably a little. But the way I imagine it, only Ron and Harry really know the difference, and I think they would both be glad not to have their emotional laundry on display, haha! So who knows?

Thanks again, cj. I really appreciate your interest!

Oh. My. Goodness. I was thrilled when I saw that there was a new addition to this wonderful premise! And poking fun at one of the worst additions to the movie franchise was spot on! A fire for drama. How ludicrous! As Lupin says, why cut the battle out just to add a superfluous fire scene? Anyway, well done, as always. And you even referred to the infamous shoelace scene again. *snort* Laughed with my hand over my mouth to prevent waking my dh! Eagerly awaiting the final HBP offering (and please tell me it has something to do with that terrible Room of Requirement scene between H/G!). cj

Author's Response: I really am beating a dead horse with the "shoelace" scene, but it's one of my pet peeves. I'm so glad you found the new chapter! I know its taking ages, so I truly appreciate anyone who is still checking in on it. One more from HBP, and yes, of course it will have more than a little to do with the H/G kiss (if you can call it that). ;) THanks, as always, for taking the time to review! I appreciate it! ~ Lori

These one-shots are hilarious! What an interesting idea!! And it provides a much needed release of frustration that I'm sure many felt during the films. :)

Author's Response: Aw, thanks! So glad you enjoyed it! More to come!

Surprised to see an update, but it was a good surprise! I never really understood the fire at the Burrow scene either...good point! Can't wait for more : )

Author's Response: Thanks so much! Glad you agree about that crazy scene! Haha!

You made my day. Thanks for updating! It was definitely a pleasant surprise, and a fantastic chapter as well.

Honestly, the first time I saw HBP, I had no idea what was going on with the Burrow burning. I went back to check my book to make sure I hadn't forgotten something crucial. You did a great job with Molly and Arthur, and everybody else.

While you might not choose to do a scene with dead characters, like Lily and James, I was wondering what you would do in place of having the real characters there. Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to the next chapters! :D :D :D

Author's Response: Yeah, dealing with dead characters is the real difficulty of this fic. In all but the first chapter, these scenes reflect relationships and attitudes of the characters after the whole story has been told, and really, some of those characters should be dead. It's the one issue I've never figured out how to get around, and in the end, I'm just asking readers to suspend their disbelief on that one. In DH, it will be especially difficult, as it will be that much farther along in the story, and that much more obvious that certain characters are gone. I have a scene in the Burrow for that one, and have just left Fred absent because I think it makes it a bit easier for the reader. Or at least, I hope so. Thanks for bringing this up. I wish I had a better answer for you. Definitely will not be dealing with any characters who died early in (or before) the series though. It's hard enough managing the ones who die in DH.

I'm so glad you liked this, and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. They always make my day! Thanks!

You've captured my feelings on the subject of "unnecessary additions" quite nicely, thank you very much!!!!!

Author's Response: Yay! Thanks!

hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahhahaha - SHOELACE!!!! Oh, Lori, this is so fabulous! You know, the Weasleys standing there in shock and not doing a thing whilst the Burrow burns has never seemed so wrong until you pointed it out. But, yes, I love Molly's outrage, second only to Arthur's enthusiasm for his workshop. That is so very Arthur.

It's easy to miss the glorious characterisation here hidden in the laughs, but you have it all. Albus is a love, Remus absolutely perfect, Minerva suitably calming. You've summed them up all so brilliantly. And got all the bits I ached over in the film into this chapter.

Can't wait for Ginny crying over Dean, the hideous RoR kiss, and Ron's lines being given to Hermione (that still rankles) .

Love this so much. And am giggling far too much.

OH!!!! You MUST do Draco's suit. you MUST! ~Carole

Author's Response: Yay, Carole, I'm so glad you liked it! This chapter gave me fits, but finally, it is done. I'm glad you reminded me about Ginny crying over Dean--I hadn't thought of that, and the next chapters is the last with content for HBP. Ron's lines and his utter Gargoyle-ness will be addressed, though the main issue with be the H/G kissy-poo.

(Oh, and I think you've already discovered that Draco's suit is covered in the previous chapters. But yes, that is one of the most obvious headdesk moments in that particular film. I will never understand it.)

Thanks so much for reading and for the fabulous review! <3

Brilliant!!! I love that they would find those changes and scenes as crazy as we did!! Well done!!

Author's Response: Thanks. :)

I came back to read this, and I'm loving it every bit as much as I loved it the first time. :D

It's gotten better too. :P Are you planning to continue with this? Keep up the good work! :D :D :D

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much. I am planning to continue but my follow-through kind of sucks right now. The next chapter is actually mostly written, but I'm not feeling as good about it as I have the others. Hopefully I'll get motivated to fix it up and post soon. Thanks so much for coming back to reread, and taking the time to review. I appreciate it!

I really like this story. The idea is brilliant, and the character's reaction is totally believable. Please continue the story! Its soooooo good!

Author's Response: Oh, I'm glad you liked it! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review. I've got the next chapter mostly done, but its not at the top of my list at the moment... soonish! Thanks again!

Oh my god- this is the greatest thing ever. Honestly, the idea is so brilliant and cleverly executed! I really hated the movies because of how untrue they are to the books, so my reactions to all of these things were about the same as the characters. The Draco's suits comment absolutely made my day. This is brilliant! Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Ah, I can't take credit for the bit with the suit. I always ask my flist for their biggest movie pet peeves, and the best of them make it in. Draco's suit was brilliant, and I'm so glad someone suggested that I include it. I have not abandoned this, though it is on the back burner. More eventually. Thanks so much!

Clever. Very clever. I admit that I enjoyed the movies for what they were but this made me realize how much better the books really are. For a sec I was like like shoelace? Ohhhh SHOELACE! Ha, it made me laugh. Please say you're going to do the Christmas scene from HBP. After I saw the movie I was flipping through the book like where the heck was that? lol

Author's Response: Haha... I'm not planning to do the Christmas scene exactly, but chapter five will be Harry/Ginny, and could include a reference. Do you mean her offering him the pie? Hmm... I will think about it. It might be a nice addition. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I will get back to this eventually, I promise.
