1. I do know how to pronounce 'Birmingham'. A lot of the Indian immigrants to the UK that I know can't, however (I say this completely without racial prejudice, since I am -- or was, anyway -- one myself), and I thought it might be a fun quirk to introduce,

2. This was originally written for the hp_holidaygen fic exchange on Livejournal, much love to it.

3. Yes, I am Indian. No, I am not Gujarati. I don't think I've gone into enough cultural specifics to be capable of being wrong on anything here, but if you would like to pounce on me for any reason you may do so, gently.
