Still a huge fan of Harry Potter. My twins are now nine years old and they have started to fall in love with the stories. We have seen all 8 movies and we took them to Wizarding World. I have a new generation of Potterites living in my home.
I particularly liked the first chapter in which we are introduced to the characters (well, duh!) and there is a lot of subtle hints at the 'creature' coming to school, before long, it is revealed to be Remus Lupin - the quiet boy that no one would suspect. I like the way that was done - by at first, highlighting the wizarding world's common prejudice against werewolves, and then smashing that prejudice by showing Remus Lupin to be a mere boy! Well written!
What an absolutely interesting and fun way of observing the magical world! The mind of a 9-year-old Muggle at work during the Quidditch World Cup, at the campsite? Inspired! I thought her fear was quite well written, as well as her intrigue. I must echo the question - was her Uncle Richie a Death Eater? Or is the Skeleton mask a coincidence?
Author's Response: Thank you so much for those nice comments!!!! Uncle Richie is a nice, ordinary Muggle.. he's no Death Eater! He just happened to have a skeleton mask.. he's like that.. he loves to keep his boyhood things..lol. ~bL
Author's Response: P.S. You readers ask me such interesting questions!! Someone on another site asked me if the 'throwing rubbish' things were actually portkeys!! I said no, Britain hadn't hosted the cup the previous year, so it couldn't be like that. I'm so impressed that people can actually think of things like that.. thanks anyhow, and keep reading!! ~bL
Wow! That was a great, action packed story! I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve for this fic! There were a few parts that had me a little confused, but nothing that detracted from the magic of your storytelling!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot for the review. That is really pleasing and encouraging. The next chapter should be up within a few days. Please keep reading.
I enjoyed the beginning of the story, but what I didn't understand, and I'm not sure I liked, was, if Cassandra is essentially going to be a student at the school, why couldn't she arrive by train with the other students? I mean, sure, she's not taking Transfiguration or Charms, or any other classes requiring a wand, but won't she be taking Herbology and Potions and Care of Magical Creatures and the like? How come she's going two weeks early? I would have liked it if she got to go as a student and used her free time (when she would otherwise have been in wand classes) apprenticing with Filch.
But otherwise, I really did enjoy it. I like your style. I felt part of the story, felt Cassandra's dread and could SEE that red highbacked chair her father was sitting in by the fire. Good job!
Author's Response: Cassandra is essentially going to school as an apprentice caretaker, not as a student. She will be taking a few classes, but they'll be scheduled around her caretaker duties, not the other way around.
As for why she's going early, that will be (hopefully) clear in the next few chapters, so I don't want to give too much away...
Thank you so much for the wonderful review!
Wow! That was really good! I don't recognize the song, though I've seen Fiddler on the Roof more times than I can count, but I bet next time I see it, I'll be kicking myself!
Author's Response: It\'s the song between Hodel and Perchik, if that rings any bells... it\'s not the best known of all of them, though. Glad you liked it, and congratulations- you\'re my 100th review EVER! yay! *confetti*
Your story is one I should never read at work! Good thing my boss is away and I'm reading it at lunch! My giggles would filter out otherwise! I'm very much looking forward to Chapter Five, Part Two!
Author's Response:
^^ I have the funniest mental image of a mad-looking word place and a bizarro boss, none of which is in the least relevant...
Thanks so much for reviewing; the rest of part two will be submitted as soon as my challenge submission is accepted... *Waits, giving a pretty decent impression of patience*
Sooo, he knows all about Hogwarts, and now he's finding out about it all over again? Um. Well, I won't say it wasn't entertaing, because it was, but the ending was sort of - odd.
Author's Response: Well, i kind of meant for it to be that way. You know how JK is always messing with our minds.. i just thought that that would be a good plot twist for her to end the book that way. Thanks for your review!
I keep checking for updates! This is a great story!
Author's Response: Thanks! I hope to have another chapter ready soon.
