Myrtle's Song by Phoenix13, grindylowinatutu

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Poor Myrtle laments about death so often that her plight has been made poetry. This is a rather silly poem that we devised while at camp. Enjoy!

That was hilarious. I love silly little things like this to make me laugh. I'm loving your pen name, grindylowinatutu, by the way!

Twilit Confessions by ahattab33

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

After returning from Australia with the Grangers, Ron realises the moment to make some important confessions to Hermione has come.

Inspired by the Ludo song, "Streetlights." A part of the "Moments" series.

Oooh, that was really great! You definitely deserve your QSQ nomination! I loved your characterisation of Ron. He is more confident with Hermione but he still has those niggling doubts and insecurities. Like counting the number of kisses they have shared. So Ron! Well done and good luck. *favourites*

Author's Response: *Blushes* Thank you so so very much! I have nitpicks with some characterizations with Ron...sometimes he's just not given enough credit! There seems to be a shift in their relationship in DH, especially after that kiss in the RoR. And I loved the kiss counting. :) You might be the first person who has favorited a story (or, at least that has told me). You made me giddy and happy. Thank you thank you thank you! For the read, the congrats, and the lovely review!

Forged in Flames by Magical Maeve

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: In times of unease, only the hardest of hearts will give protection.

Inspired by a heart made of iron I bought from a blacksmith. It's heavy and cold and unbreakable.

I LOVED this! Your imagery is beautiful, some of it just took my breath away.

A ferrous scent of blood belies
The taste of life anew.

OMS, that is AMAZING. I am so jealous that I didn't write this. But envy is the ulcer of the soul so I will applaud you instead :)

Bravo, bravo.

Author's Response: You have no reason to be jealous coming out with the lines you do! But thank you very much for the super-lovely review and I'll bask in the applause! :-). Always means a great deal coming from someone whose work I admire.

Oh no! Gasp! What an ending! First though, I have to tell you how excited I was to see an update on here. Hannah told me that more chapters are posted on FF and I was about to wander over there when I saw this update. So yay! An excellent chapter, again. Your imagery is very powerful and it hooks me ccompletely from the first few words. I love the darkness of the plot and how you seem to be building an incredibly intriguing story. This is not the average Dramione with a sole focus on romance. You are building up a great plot, so well done! I'm looking forward to the next update. I think I'll stick around this site to read this fic... Keep up the great work!

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I lost track a little of where I was up to with posting. FF has about another - uh, six chapters, I think. I'm delighted you're enjoying the fic - it's tremendous fun to write. The romance really isn't the main part of the plot for me; it's something that happens because of the plot, really. I've tried to think very hard about just what the world would be like and how people would have been changed by all that's happened: i hope it works!

Oooo, this is getting really intriguing! I'm loving the plot right now. Just one nit-pick...

And too, all that dwelt here would be part of him...,

I think 'too' should be 'two'. But great chapter, looking forward to the next update!

Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying it - I'm having a lot of fun writing it. I believe it is 'too' as I'm using the word in the sense of 'as well', rather than as Hermione enumerating her reasons, but I can understand the confusion, and I'll look to see if I can rephrase it. Thanks!

Argh, I can't believe I didn't see that this had been updated! Another intriguing chapter. I love how you worked in the Mirror of Erised. Keep up the great fic and I'm looking forward to the next update. Hopefully I won't miss it again!

How Voldemort Got His Groove Back by OHara

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Even death can't keep the Dark Lord busy for long! A few weeks after his death, Voldemort returns to earth and finds his magic lost.

Forced to live as a Muggle, Voldemort teams up with an unlikely friend in an attempt to get a flat, keep a steady job and regain his old glory.

Please note: This story contains ridiculous plot twists, kooky pop culture references, extremely out-of-character behavior, alternate universes galore and a great deal of random silliness. You have been warned!

So this is what you've been doing instead of updating The Double! Well ,I guess it was worth it. This is great.

Long-term goals? Killing Harry Potter, taking over the Wizarding World and making John Lennon into an Inferi for a concert tour.

Haha, why didn't JKR think of that. Fantastic! I also loved Voldy being a fan of Coro. You should research the plotlines from that time. It would be hilarious.

I'm curious to know what sort of employment Voldy will find...

Can't wait for an update. That being said, I can't wait for you to update The Double *hint hint*

Author's Response: I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I submitted the second chapter of "The Double" today, so it should be up in a week or so. I'm very glad that this story tided you over and the next chapter is called "Voldemort Gets A Job," so the answers you're seeking will be coming soon!

Wh-wh-what?!?! Old Dumby' is the Manager at a shop named 'Electronics'? I did not see that one coming.

This chapter was LOL especially after a long day at work.

Lucius had been secretly burdened with atrocious foot odor. Bella had the whole ’history of insanity’ thing.

Love it :) Don't leave me hanging here too long, now!!!

Julia XD

Author's Response: There is an actual explanation for the Dumbledore thing, I swear! I'm so glad you found it funny. I am SERIOUSLY going to be faster for the next chapter. :)

Muggle Confusion by Mstar7

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The Marauders have a knack for finding things, but are terrible at figuring out what they are. Luckily, Gryffindor is full of informative people...

This is a collection of related one-shots about confusion over Muggle objects. An excerpt from the first chapter, A Contraceptive Controversy:

James Potter was quite brilliant, or at least he’d like to think so. He had some of the best grades in the sixth year- they would probably be the best if he did his homework regularly. The Marauder’s Map had been his idea- even if he wasn’t brilliant, the Map certainly was. He was also an animagus. An (illegal) animagus at sixteen was something brilliant indeed. So if he was so brilliant, then why was he incapable of identifying the object before him? It’s not like it was particularly complex: all it was was a little piece of rubber, really. There’s nothing complicated about that, is there? No, not at all.

Haha that was great. I can't believe people didn't know what it was at the beginning; I mean the chapter title was sort of obvious??? Oh well, I love how Lily was the one to tell them! And the things the boys all thought it was for...Classic. I'm a bit confused though about whether Remus truly knew what the condom was and told the others a lie or if he seriously though it was a meat-holder. At first I thought he totally knew what it was and that 'meat-holder' was his kind of joke but now I'm not sure...

Remus looked at them and said quite seriously, “It’s a meat holder,” and then burst out laughing again as he headed to the boys’ dorm.

Reading this again, I'm sure Remus knew what it was. Still, you never know...

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!

Scenes from Shell Cottage by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: This fic is a series of missing moments from the time H/R&H were at Shell Cottage, beginning immediately after they Disapparated from Malfoy Manor. JKR shows us what was going on with Harry, but this is my version of what could have happened with Ron and Hermione after one of the most emotional/disturbing events in the entire series.

UPDATED June 2010 When I first wrote this fic, I didn't know what a beta reader was, and frankly, it showed. Thanks so much to Natalie for helping me polish this up and make it more readable. Thanks also to both Julia and Carole, whose helpful comments in the review section allowed me to make some much-needed corrections during the rewrite. I would love to know what you think ~ reviews are very much appreciated!

This was nominated in the 2010 Quicksilver Quill Awards for Best Canon Romance.

Aw! So cute! I was so excited to see this had been updated. The last two chapters are fab (I just realised I missed your last update too). I like that you have put a kiss in. It was sweet and made sense for the moment. I thought Hermione was acting a bit dim at some points but then I guess her mind was on other completely different things i.e breaking into the unbreak-inable Gringotts! Also, love is a fickle thing no matter how smart you are. You showed Ron's insecurities well, I thought. So great job. I love this fic!!!

Author's Response: Hey, I'm so glad you are still reading. :) Well, I obviously did not intend for Hermione to seem anything less than her usual brilliant self... almost three weeks have passed since the almost-kiss and while he is still (always!) on her mind, she is pretty consumed with the Gringotts thing at the moment. But she knows where he is going as soon as he says it's just about the two of them. After that, she's just kind of nervous. I appreciate you pointing this out and I'll keep it in mind as I continue to edit. (I am a mad editor and can barely stop even when the thing is finished.) Haha. Thanks again for continuing to read and review. I always look forward to your comments.

Haha this was a great chapter. Very funny. I was laughing throughout the whole table scene. Your Luna is great!

Bill, who was new to Luna, could not keep from laughing in shock despite an admirable attempt to reign it in. Harry choked on his drink and was unable to sort himself out for several minutes. Dean busied himself thumping Harry on the back and asking if he was all right. Fleur excused herself and headed toward the stove, trying unsuccessfully to hide a satisfied grin behind her blonde locks. As for Ron, he nearly broke his neck checking to make sure Hermione had not been walking into the room when this pronouncement came forth.

This made me laugh so much :) I love seeing this story updated! Anyway, a couple of nitpicks. It was Tonks who fixed Harry's nose in HBP not Luna. Luna fixed it in the movie, though. To be honest, I didn't even click that it was Tonks until the very end. So it's just a little nitpick :)

Anyway, great job. Looking forward to the next update!!!

Author's Response: Aw, MAN. That kind of sucks. I didn't catch it, obviously. Being canon-accurate is important to me, but I will have to think about it... I really like Luna being able to say that Harry screamed, and then Ron reacting. Ugh. I hate that I let the movie mess up my memory of the real deal. Must be my undying love for movie-Luna. Oh well. Thanks for letting me know though. I will reread that part (in the book) and see if something else might work. I think it will bug me too much to leave it in when it was Tonks. I'm so glad you think it's funny.... hard to tell without readers, you know? I thought we needed a bit of a breather after all that angst. Thanks again for taking the time to review and nitpick (I'm a bit of a nitpicker myself... hehe).

Hey, it's me again! Just letting you know that the changes are great and work really well. I don't think I mentioned before about how much I loved Harry talking to Hermione about the wand. In DH we're told that Hermione is having trouble getting used to her wand but we didn't get to see an actual conversation about it (I think). So I love how you work in things like that. That's what makes this fic so special :) Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for checking it out. I feel a lot better knowing I haven't twisted the canon. ;) I really do appreciate constructive criticism, especially with regard to characterization and continuity. Yeah, in DH when they are ready to dissaparate to Gringotts, Hermione comments that she hates the wand and "it's still not working properly for me." What I'm doing here and in the next chapter may make her comment there a little redundant... but I think it goes okay. Thanks again!

Wow. I can't believe this is finished! What a great ending and no, I was not offended by you adding to canon. I thought it was a great way to finish and to add in some light-hearted banter before such a scary situation. I'm sad that I will never see another update from this fic, the last couple of chapters seemed to come so quickly.

*sigh* Farewell, Scenes from Shell Cottage. May we see more from your wonderful author in the (very) near future!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Julia. You have been such an encouragement, and your comments have really helped me improve this story as I went along. I kind of consider you an unoffical beta... haha. :) Glad you liked it, and thanks for sticking with me and reviewing. I appreciate it.

The Resilient by Misdemeanor1331

Rated: Professors • Past Featured Story
Summary: Sequel to "An Aversion to Change."

It's Voldemort's world now: a world of corruption, betrayal, greed, and violence. A world of evil thoughts and evil deeds, where no one can be trusted, especially those closest to you.

But through it all, there must be strength. There must exist those who will stand up to totalitarian rule, who will say no when others submit, who must survive despite their condition. There must exist the resilient.

Eventual Draco/Hermione with plenty of plot. Very dark, so read at your own risk!

Reviewer: the opaleye Signed

Oooh! That was such a good chapter! Finally we see the elusive Draco. I have to admit, as soon as the older man said he wanted a younger person as leader I figured it would be Draco. But I just loved the pacing in this. It was fantastic.

What is Hermione's reaction going to be?!?! I cannot wait. I don't usually get so excited about a fic but this one is keeping me on my toes and I love it!

Keep up the great writing. Sorry for the excessive use of exclamation marks in this review as well :p

Author's Response: Haha, yeah, I had to sneak him in there somehow. And hopefully I'll get Hermione's reaction on point. She can be difficult to write sometimes. :) Thank you so much for the review! And the exclamation points!! Hahaha

Reviewer: the opaleye Signed
Date: 03/28/10 Title: Chapter 1: Azkaban

Sigh. I was so excited to see that you had updated and especially at a time when I really really really needed a break from my immunology study. So thank you for that! Now, onto the chapter...

One of the things I love about this fic is how you are being slow to build the story. Of course I can't wait to see Draco's appearance but... even so... I just love the way you have built this ominous atmosphere throughout the fic. It is a breath of fresh air in this particular category so well done. Just wanted to let you know that I do appreciate the depth with which you are building this fic up so that when Draco does turn up, there is actually reason and development and above all, emotion behind his appearance.

I'm interested in how you seem to be playing around with Stockholm Syndrome. At first I was unsure whether or not Hermione would succumb to that but... the more I think about it, the more I realise that it is a means for Hermione to escape what has become of her life. And it does make sense considering the master did 'save' her from Azkaban and provided her with luxuries that she had not had for two years. Of course she is going to have some sort of connection with him. I am glad that she still seems to remain her own person, however and is not enjoying her role in the masters household. There are still glimpses of the Hermione we all know and that comforts me.

And I was so happy to know that she has access to a library even after the master's chilling threats. It made me smile despite the fact she is still a prisoner.

Keep up the great work. You have built up a solid start and now I'm excited to see where you are going to take us next within this dark and mysterious fic of yours. Thanks for a great read!

Julia XD

Author's Response: Ugh, immuno. I'm taking virology this semester and it's a total pain, but (at my university, anyway), immuno is worse. Good luck!

If there's one thing I love, it's realism. My favorite stories are one where I can lose myself in the alternate reality and I'm not constantly scratching my head and asking, "Why?" So I'm glad I can create that world for you. :)

I'm absolutely fascinated with Stockholm syndrome, but you're right: it's vital that Hermione not be lost. Hopefully I can continue letting her teeter right on the edge for a bit. ;) Thanks so much for the review!!!
