Killer Instincts by Ginny Weasley Potter

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: London: Four murders have taken place under bizarre circumstances, for what seems to be an equally bizarre reason.

Harry, a happily wedded man with a wonderful wife and a cute daughter, is an Auror at the Ministry of Magic and is now given a new case to solve with Ron and four other Aurors. Incidentally, the four Aurors include Ginny, Harry’s ‘schoolboy crush’; and it turns out to be much more than a crush when Harry sees her again. What’s more is that Harry is working upon a case that seems to connect to him directly. And once again, it opens up old fears: fears of losing loved ones.

Ron, on the other hand, seems to be tired of Hermione. Tempers are running high and fights are breaking out more often than usual. Are they really falling apart? Or can they sort this out before it is too late?

Then there is the case itself. Who is trustworthy, and who is not? Who is deadly enough to murder four people in cold blood?

Indulge into the gut-wrenching action, combined with warm romance and tingling suspense; while I tell you a story of love, ambition and obsession… a story of what those killer instincts can do. EDIT: MAJOR revamping going on, with regard to plot, characterisation, and general style of writing. I would urge you not to read this until I've removed this notice because I wasn't very good six years ago, and this is as bad as I was. *Places traffic cones*

Very nice story so far! I just can't believe it has such a small number of reviews...

I'm eagerly awaiting for the next chapter ;)

Wandless by Wandering Wand

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:

It’s not just any 1st of September. The Philosopher Stone is hidden at Hogwarts, The Boy Who Lived is about to board the Express for the first time. It’s not the best September for something unexpected to happen, for something impossible. Or someone.

This story is not AU, but it focuses on the original character, her plot, her friends, her loves :)

Rating and Warning only for later chapters.

This is quite an interesting story! I really like Cybele, and her friendship with Fred, George and Lee makes me like her even more. I don't know how I should feel about Malfoy, though. I guess it depends on where their friendship is going to end.

I have two questions: First, is Cybele going to interfere with the Voldemort part of the original story? What I mean is that if she will modify the situation of either Voldemort's return or his downfall, or both.

My second question: Will this story cover only Cybele's second year or her whole education at Hogwarts?

I hope you update soon :D

Author's Response: Thanks for the review :) Yes, the story will cover all Cybele's Hogwarts years. I try to keep it canon, so she won't modify any main events. Hope to read from you again!

My Troubled Tyrant by Belledeg

Rated: Professors • Past Featured Story
Summary: Keedie Dante has experienced many amazing things during her time at Hogwarts, including the hushed up drama that was the Chamber of Secrets. However, with two overachieving friends and a headmaster who does not even know she exists, Keedie feels that perhaps her seventh year will not be too spectacular. However, Dumbeldore sees her potential as a writer and enrols her in a simple writing course. Here, she meets the mysterious and terrifying Tom Riddle and they instantly get under one another's skin. She is drawn to his dark determination towards some unknown goal and he is fascinated by her, in every way. However, Tom's friends do not approve of Keedie and her unconventional ways and Keedie has many people trying to keep her away from the dark young man as well. Something inside tells Keedie that she can make him better, but even he assures her that this is an impossible task. But she's not one to give up easily...

"He is a dark one, Keedie. Try not to let him consume you entirely."

This story has the characters Albus Dumbledore, Armando Dippet, Moaning Myrtle, Rubeus Hagrid, Aaron Dante, Harry Potter, Ebony Abbott, Minerva McGonagall, Melena Creevey, Ollivander, Gregor Holmwood, Horace Slughorn and, of course, Tom Riddle and Keedie Dante...enjoy!

The Torment Bred in the Race by paperrose

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: It's been twelve years since the Wizarding world saw Harry Potter after he mysteriously disappeared into the Forbidden Forest during the Final Battle in 1998. Now Lord Voldemort has conquered, extending his reach not just over Britain, but France, Germany, and Spain as well.

Meanwhile, hidden deep within the Canadian Rocky Mountains in British Columbia, a terrifying secret is brewing at the magic school that McGonagall herself founded just after the second battle for Hogwarts. It is at this school where Muggle-born Leah Andrews and her best friends, Gwen and Cory, will find themselves thrown into the search for the truth: What is a dead snake doing hung from a tree like a sacrificial lamb? Who really is the new DADA professor with the strange colour-changing eyes and bad mood swings? And just what does a gentle half-giant gamekeeper have to do with any of this?

One thing is for certain - all is definitely not well.

This is the sequel to Alternate Ending. I strongly recommend you read that one first, although I don't think it's necessary.

Excerpt from the Epilogue:

As he sidestepped them, he glanced down again at the wrinkled slip of parchment Charlie had handed him two days earlier with nothing more than a quiet word that there may still be one last loose end to tie.

I really like your story, and I just can't understand why it has only two reviews. I have a soft spot for dystopian fics, but, unfortunately, there aren't a lot of good ones out there. However, yours is amazing, and I just can't wait for the next chapter.

See you around :)

Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! I'm glad you're liking it.

The Very Last Option by Racing Co

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: In an act of sheer desperation, Albus Dumbledore attends a book signing and invites Gilderoy Lockhart, the heroic adventurer and celebrated author, to fill a final teaching position at Hogwarts.

Nice! Your portrayal of Lockhart is really good, and I must admit that he actually made me laugh when he pictures himself autographing a Chocolate Frog card...

It's very well written, nothing seems out of place in this conversation. Also, the speed of it is well measured, as it doesn't seem either too rushed or too slow.

I hope you do well in the challenge! :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! Lockhart is one of my favorite characters — he's made at least a cameo appearance in all my fics. I love him because he's so terribly full of himself. It's funny to imagine that he would think of himself as an equal to Dumbledore. Though we never see a real conversation between to two characters in the books, I'm pretty sure that would be the case!

The Vindication Of James Potter by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

"James Sirius Potter, it is the judgment of the Wizengamot that you have been found guilty. You knowingly, in possession of sound mind and body, used the Cruciatus Curse and the Killing Curse in the intentional torture and murder of one Gregory Goyle the Third."

James Potter was going to Azkaban for the rest of his natural life, and his whole family was in shambles. His wife and child have fled the country, his sister was missing, and his parents were a wreck. However, James knew that he had larger problems: his guilt was coming more and more in question.

Though he knew that James was withholding information about the circumstances of the murder of which he had been found guilty, Harry had secrets of his own; however, even he could not handle this torrent of trouble alone. Can Harry trust his darkest confidences to anyone? Even family?

How will the Potter clan stop the downward spiral into pain and disaster, and can they recover what they've lost?

This fic was nominated for a 2010 Quicksilver Quill Award - Best Next-Generation Story.

Such an amazing story!! I just can't believe it has such a small number of reviews. I really like it, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chaper!!

Author's Response:

Well, the updates will be coming as fast as the mod will put them out, because the story in its entirety is almost finished. The craziness has barely begun, so stay tuned! The end number of chapters is about 30, so the madness will not stop until the end. :D

Thank you so much for your support. This is my very first fiction, so that's probably why it's low in the review department, but I hope to keep a certain level of quality. Feel free to review as often as you like, every chapter even, because reviews are like candy for writers-they're so sweet!

Thank you and keep reading!

A Clock on the Face of Hell by IdSayWhyNot

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Fate was sealed that night. I was to live and fight, to breathe and conquer. The night I died and lived England celebrated the end of the nightmare that had yet to begin and praised the baby they would later fear and hate. I am Harry Potter. I am legend.

Interesting, and confusing. But then again, it is supposed to be confusing, so that's alright too.

I really like the way it's written, and I'm eager to see where this is going. I hope you can update soon!!

Nicely done, so far. You're right, it's not so different right now, but I know that will change as you progress with the story, and I'm eager to know where you will take it!

Author's Response: Thank you very much. The second chapter, Freak, has been submitted, but not yet validated. Hopefully you'll enjoy it, it's quite dark, as the name may imply.
