The Nature Of Courage by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: In Rowling's books, we see most Sortings yield five boys to each House, and yet there were only four Marauders. What happened to the other one?

This story was submitted for the "You Sorted WHERE?" One-Shot challenge.

You've done a wonderful job and the POV choice is perfect. I completely buy Snape as a Gryffindor, I love seeing James brought down a peg and your thoughts on courage are provocative as well. I could actually see a basis for Snape and James becoming something close to friendly, if not friends (although I wouldn't totally rule that out). If you should decide to expand on this concept, I'd certainly love to see it.

I'm very glad I read this! Your use of language is lovely and you've got a great sense of imagery. My favorite line is, "War lengthens the marble white rows." Just beautiful and gave me the slightest stab of sadness for Dumbledore (nice allusion, by the way). My only qualm is that I wish there were more - the poem feels like it could be epic. Well done!

Author's Response: Wow, I\'m glad you liked it! And to be compared to an epic, is unbelieveable. Thanks Andrea!

All Along by FinallyWork

I quite like this story and I'm really tough on R/Hr fics! Thematically you've done a lovely job and I lioke the 3rd person present tense - that's quite different and you've done well with it. I think you slipped POV the tiniest bit from Ron's to Hermione's in a couple of spots, but it was forgiveable. The characterizations, which I always find to be the shakiest part of romances, was spot on with both of them! Well done!!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for such a detailed review! I always have POV slips and don\'t notice; thanks for pointing it out. I\'m glad you enjoyed it!

Chestnuts by ProfPosky

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Severus Snape, sitting by the fire in Spinner's End on Christmas Eve, watches his door blow open and Harry Potter enter his home. Will the meeting between two antagonists end in understanding or curses?

I still love it! And each time I am completely undone with the scene where Severus mentions Hagrid. THere's something about the way Harry responds, I can see him chokin gup and it makes me cry every time, dangit! This is so well done - best of luck for a big win!!!

Author's Response: Thank you! If you aren\'t sick of it bynow I must have done a decent job! I love Hagrid, and I love writing about him. I cut Harry off partly because he was going to say \"Carried me like he carried Dumbledore,\" (and we all know how Hagrid felt about Dumbledore) but he didn\'t say it out of respect for Snape\'s feelings, as well as the catch in the throat... Thanks for the review!

More Than A Game by Hypatia

Dumbledore was rarely wrong, only once did Lord Voldemort desire a friend. It started out as only a game…

First place winner in the Color of Love Challenge.

I don't normally review challenge submissions, but I must say this was very impressive! You've managed to keep Voldemort completely in character while having him fall in his version of love. That was no easy feat, I'm sure. Your OC, Lydia, is a nice foil for him as well. Nicely done!!
