'a prayer for the mind that's threadbare, for those who dare to tread there...'
Yes! Another chapter! When I saw it I must confess to cackling in glee. But...retiring the story?! To be serious a moment, I do understand that perhaps you simply feel you cannot continue it, either for lack of inspiration or canon problems arising from HBP, but I think what Snape does does not automatically mean he's 'evil'...So maybe it could continue...I won't be annoying and nag at you if you choose not to, but it would be nice. Maybe just one more tiny tiny chapter, with Remus and Seiri getting together? Or sharing just one little kiss? Hehe, I'll leave you alone now. I've sincerely enjoyed this story; It's well written with beautiful characterisation.
Author's Response: *hides* It's not canon problems necessarily. It's just...well, I don't want to spoil HBP for anyone, although if you haven't read it yet there is *something* wrong with you...but after what happened at the end, with Remus...it's like I don't want to see him with any of my characters now. It's meh. I like the way it went and I don't want to see it any other way, even in my own little universe. Plus, the story did hit quite a roadblock. *cough*crashed into a brick wall more like *cough* And actually, I wasn't worried about Snape, because he's a $@*% in this story too, so it's all good. I'll try, I really will, at this rate I might want to finish it just to say "I finally finished something longer than a chapter gahh!" We'll see about some snoggage, though. That would be nice. It was inevitably coming up anyway. *wink* Thanks so much for being a great new reviewer for a tired old story, I really appreciate it.
I really like this story, I like it when people use new characters, but characters that could realistically exist (i.e. Seirian MacNair).Updates exceedingly welcome!
Author's Response: Seiri came to being because I didn't want to use the Exchange Student, but I needed someone who *definitely* didn't know the Marauders too. And thus, she came about. Updates...well...um...*shifty eyes* That's all I have to say about it, lol. But thanks for reviewing!
I love this story, it'd be great if you could update (hint hint!). You acknowledge and weave in the Buffy dialogue/plot well(Joss Whedon is amazing btw), but I hope that you realise you have enough talent as an author to only use your own original prose. That said, I thought the Lupin/Oz parallel was masterful!
Author's Response: thank you very much. its not that i dont have confidence as a writer. i just really enjoy weaving stories together without turning it into a crossover fic. i figure if i can do that, and people like it, then i do have some talent . . . thanks again.
I know I'm repeating what everyone else has said, but basically I love this story and I'm pleased you're carrying on with it the way you intended. You can't force yourself to write something just because you feel other options are too controversial. Rape is a hideous, terrible violation, which I feel you have conveyed perfectly. Yet you have made the characters involved(Hermione and Draco) so complex that it is understandable that romantic feelings could develop. Due to the circumstances it is reasonable that eventually Hermione might forgive Draco, though she would never be able to forget what he did. Draco would not be able to forget either, which is perhaps the worst punishment of all, if he comesto love Hermione.
I love that song, and I love this fanfic.(A short, but hopefully sweet, review.)
Actually maybe just saying that isn't very helpful, arghh!Erm, what appealed to me most is the way it's realistic and compliments J.K.s style;I could see her actually writing this, which is not the case with fics where Snape-hurts-Lily-James-rescues-her-they-make-mad-passionate-love...though I have to admit I'm disturbingly addicted to those ;-)
Sorry, this definitely isn't short anymore!
Author's Response: Pssh, length of reviews is of no consequence, I'm thrilled you're even reviewing! I just reread this thing after seeing your review, and...well, frankly, my first thought was, "WOW this is so suckariffically cliched," but maybe that's just me. Still, though, glad you liked it, at any rate. And I think those L/J fics are absolutely hilarious, and at times very well-written. *grin* Thankee for leaving a review!
I admired this work. 'When Saints Die, The World Stops Spinning' was also impressive - you have a poignant, haunting style of writing. Occasionally, there are phrases that ring slightly false -and sound a little too contrived? It's hard to criticise though(please believe me I am trying to be constructive!) because this is also the strength of your writing, the carefully composed phrases are beautifully poetic. I must confess, I have an addiction to Ladiesman!Sirius stories, but I like seeing different, deeper, interpretations of his character - and I completely agree that his bigoted bringing-up would be deeply ingrained.Possibly Uncle Alphard helped to counteract the teachings of Sirius' 'pure' parents?
Author's Response: Thank you for your review! I absolutely love reviews like yours. Reviews that just say "nice" or whatever really do make me angry. I'm also glad that you do agree that his "bigoted bringing-up would be deeply ingrained" because although I do picture him as the ladiesman at times...I can't get this broken image of him out of my mind. I've always thought Uncle Alphard might have had some influence in Sirius' rebellion. Thanks for your review. :)
hehe, I love this story too!Pleeeeeeeeease continue.
This is simply brilliant. As other reviewers have already mentioned, it's brilliantly in character, and fits remarkably well into the books. 10! (And I am an incredibly stingy rater).
Author's Response: Thank you, pathetic_pettigrew! I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! This was my first attempt at Post-HBP and I'm glad it came off well!
