It's good to see Umbridge gets her just desserts, but not restraining the accused in a criominal trial seems like a significant breach of protocol.... Despite that, well done!

Well done, of course! And I see by others' comments that I'm hardly alone in that asseswsment!

Very well done! I just encountered this story last night; read the first 11 chapters then, and got caught up this morning. I am quite impressed (positively, mind). I had noticed a few typos in earlier chapters, but it looks as if the proofreading has been improving as the story progresses. If you want help with that, I may be able to assist. (Contact info in profile should work.) Sorry to read that your back was giving you grief; I hope that ceases to be a problem.

Harry Potter & the Year of the Dragon by CraftySlytherin

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •

With a deranged killer on the loose, new friends, a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and Voldemort planning his final attack, it will be a year of trials and tribulations. And what exactly is the Year of the Dragon? You'll just have to read to find out!

CHAPTER 14 IS UP! CHAPTER 15 IS IN QUEUE!

Heh -- Morgan & Charlies's interest in each other was rather expected. Luna wearing a coral snake was a tad unexpected, yeah. Hmmm... guess Draco gets to save her....

Excellent story so far, all told. (Just started reading it last night, so I didn't submit reviews for the earlier chapters.) I'm (very) slowly coming to terms with Draco -- I think I can identify with the Gryffindors on that score. :-} The dragon (Morgan) is interesting ... but that egg is perhaps one of the more interesting things about her. Wonder if it's fertile (and no, I'm not going to think about the process by which that might have occurred, if it is). For that matter, I wonder if the egg is Morgan's.... If "yes" to these, there could be some exteremely interesting results (as well as justifications for the situation). And -- re: Morgan -- I wouldn't be too surprised if there might be a romantic interest for her, once she redeems herself -- though there might be some issues related to the preceding paragraph to resolve for that to go forward. I look forward to the next chapter. :-)

Good start; interesting wrinkle toward the end of the chapter.

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it. Chapter 2 is in queue and will hopefully be out soon.

Harry Potter and the Seventh Horcrux by Scarhead Steve

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

My take on how events may pan out in book seven. Spoilers from all previous HP books.

The events of the previous year have brought home to Harry the realization of what has to be done, and the knowledge that it must be done alone. Now as he sets off on his final quest, making new acquaintances along the way, he must bring all his knowledge and skill to bear in his effort to destroy Lord Voldemort. But will it be enough, or is there something that he has missed which might prove to be his undoing?

Curious; interesting. Wonder what his middle name is. (Anonymous? :-})

Author's Response: I\'ll just keep that under wraps for the moment.

I think you captured Harry's mood rather well.

Author's Response: Thanks for the encouragement. I am trying to keep as close to what Harry might think and feel based on canon evidence and its a pleasure to know that you feel that this come close. Thanks again.

Hmmm... interesting developments; well done.

Author's Response: Thanks, I\'ve always been a fan of the twist in the tale sort of stories a la Jeffrey Archer and O.Henry. And I intend to keep those twists coming, so keep reading.

Pretty good; interesting approach to dealing with Mrs. Black's portrait. And the scene with Hermione & Ron was well done, too.

Caio, yourself. :-)

Looks as if Regulus has recived a reminder of how teenage boys tend to eat. :-)

Heh -- for someone who always loses to Ron at chess, Harry certainly seems to be putting his pieces in position. :-}

Hagrid's all right. :-)

Author's Response: I think Harry\'s realised that he needs to start thinking ahead if he needs to be prepared. Hagrid was a lot of fun to write about. Glad you liked it.

[And I'm annoyed with myself. I scribbled a note and forgot to include it. Here it is: OK; I'm a little confused. The "Point Me" spell does indeed appear useful. But if Harry -- by his own admission -- doesn't know where Godric's Hollow is, how would he know which direction to go from it to get to London?]

Author's Response: Good point, Wolfs_Scream, I realise that I should have elaborated on that. The assumption is that Godric\'s Hollow is north of London. I shall edit the chapter so that it flows better. Thanks for pointing this out. It is reviews like these that help me make my story better, and erase mistakes. Thanks again.

Eh; dialogue (as a part of interactions among the characters) can be good, too. :-)

Regulus's appearance appears to have been remarkably fortuitous, there.

And it appears that providing answers that merit further consideration may be a Dumbledore family trait. :-}

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Yes, I do enjoy writing dialogue, but since the last few chapters had been dialogue heavy, I was really looking to put some more direct action into this chapter. I hope you like Regulus' character, since he's someone I'm having to almost re-imagine. Aberforth was fun to write too, and yes it would appear that the Dumbledore's tend to give infuriating vague answers. Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope you like the rest of the story as well.

Very good backstory for Regulus.

Author's Response: Thanks, I had to make sure that since we had heard of Regulus yet didn\'t know his story at all, the backstory was strong. Glad you liked it.

Quite good; I'm coming to expect that from you. :-)

Interesting that you've eliminated the Knight Bus (for now); perhaps even more interesting that one can create a Portkey to a place of which one is ignorant of the location, given but the name. :-}

Also interesting that the "town drunk" apparently knew the Potters, but didn't comment on Harry's resemblance to James.

So: either no Horcrux there or Harry isn't "sufficiently well tuned" to sense it, then, eh?

Author's Response: Thank you for the review, Wolfs_Scream. I guess I\'ll have to claim creative license on the portkey. I didn\'t know if you can create one to a place you\'ve never been to, so I just assumed you can. Harry would be too conspicuous on the Knight Bus, and the idea seemed to be too simplistic. As for the town drunk, well it is night, and Harry was taking great care to hide his face and forehead, so that would contribute to the drunk not noticing the resemblance. As for where the Horcruxes are, well, keep reading and you\'ll know. Chow for now, Scarhead Steve.

Harry Potter and Hope for the End by Julybug

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Starts where HBP leaves off.

Will Harry and his friends get to live happily ever after? Or will the Prophecy and You-Know-Who be too much to overcome?

This one has it all, folks! Love and lust! Money and power! Hob Nobs and Fairy Liquid! The Beatles and U2! C'mon! You know you want to read it...

Oh, yeah - it's got H/G and Hr/R romantic stuff, plus, you know, that war they're having.

BIG THANKS to my beta, Tabletop Joe (now, go read his brilliant fic!).
Next chapter is IN THE QUEUE. Thank you for the reviews, emails, and continued support of this story!

Were I Ginny (no way that could happen; internal plumbing's all wrong, among several concerns), I'd be more inclined to believe Harry's promise to not do something stupid if it were modified with "on purpose" or "intentionally." :-} And Ginny's comment about Harry being an excellent candidate for the study of the subconcious was priceless! :-) Ron having nightmares, eh? Hmmm... wonder if that was a one-off or a precursor of a trend.... Hermione's reaction to the prospect of not finishing school was interesting; she & Ginny definitely appear to have their priorities far more in order than Harry & Ron. Well done!

Author's Response: Ya, I think Ginny's smart enough to believe that Harry's gonna do what Harry's gonna do, regardless of what he promises. And I think the reality of what's happening it starting to creep Ron out a bit. I don't blame him, though. As for Hermione, she's got her worries but she's also well aware of what would happen if Harry failed, right? So the smart thing to do would be to make sure he had every chance to succeed. We women tend to overthink stuff, but sometimes that's for the better.

Well done! Hmm.... There's a bit of a switch: Ron providing direction to Hermione! :-) Speaking of Ron, I wonder if he's really going to be able to keep his over-protectiveness under control.... And it's looking as if each of Harry, Hermione, and Ron is going to have adequate reason to get pretty frustrated once they head out on their journey.

Author's Response: Ron, like many teenage boys, knows what he likes - sex, Quiddich, sex, chess, sex and more Quiddich. - and what he knows, he learns ALL about, right? He's great at chess, practiced his Quiddich skills and got a spot on the house team, and Lavender was good practice for what he could do with Hermione. She's still a novice with "the physical stuff."

Hmmm... Ginny's a bit more thoughtful than & not-as-obviously-devious as I might have expected, but quite well-characterized, I think. She certainly gave HArry something to consider.... :-)

Author's Response: I know...that is true. I think she has grown up quite a lot and we all needed to see that. Harry needs to go into this fight believing he has a trustworthy and faithful woman to go back to...Thanks for the review! more to come soon...

Aye, plenty exciting. I rather like the way the Trio thought through the notion that a Horcrux needed to be "used" to be destroyed.

Author's Response: You have no idea how long it took for me to think that up....and make it fit with JKR\'s past, and my future, Horcruxes...it was a nightmare! So glad you liked it though...makes it all worth it! Thanks for the review!

The Transfiguration (for the chairs &c.) was an interesting and
apropos touch.

The pre-ceremony pandemonium is quite well portrayed; I'd guess
that you might have witnessed something along these lines. :-)

Reaction to Viktor's appearance is well done, also. And his
conversation with Hermione, too.

Ron & Hermione's first kiss, then Harry & Ginny's sole dance &
conversation were also quite well done.

Author's Response: I\'m glad you enjoyed it! I always felt Krum would spark Ron and Hermione in the end! And yes, I come from a large family and have definitely witnessed pre-ceremony pandemonium! (And loved every second of it! :)
