I'm a truck driver who was introduced to Harry Potter by my daughter in 1999. The books are fantastic, the movies are some of the best made, and the fanfic is better than that I've read in Star Trek, Buffy, and even the Xena universes.

BTW, the Sorting Hat put me exactly where I belong, in Gryffindor.

Sir Oscar O'Reilly by MagEd

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Assigned to work on a project together, James Potter and Lily Evans find themselves getting to know one another through a silly game James has devised. A light, fluffy, slightly cliche one-shot. "Don’t look at me like that! I’m going to behave today." *one-shot*

Very well done! My soup went cold while I read this... and I don't care because your story REALLY held my interest. Thanks for writing it.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I loved writing it, and it's good to know that people like reading it!

Shooting Stars by GinervaPotter213

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Evangeline Mack isn't the highest on the list of Hogwarts' guys of girls to date, or on the list of many of the girls of people to know.
But why hasn't anyone tried?
Fred gets backed into a corner and gets to see what she's really like.

OK... Fred has a heart, can grow and learn... well written, no distracting grammatical errors, well structured... Not bad at all!

Booty by MrsRuebeusHagridDursley

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: History of Magic class can actually be interesting if you just mishear Professor Binns!
Reviewer: Trucker Signed
Date: 12/09/08 Title: Chapter 1: Booty

That was funny... and I find myself wondering if the British (or even the Wizarding world) uses "booty" in the way you're implying. Being who I am, I was initially as confused as Binns because the primary dictionary meaning of "booty" is loot, stolen property. Looking farther into the matter, I found that the secondary meaning of "buttocks" (or worse) comes from Black American slang in the 1920s.

Author's Response: That...........is a WONDERFUL point. I have no idea if the British use the word like that....

For All Time by Hermione_Rocks

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Things never change. At least, they never change in any way that really matters.

The Gray Lady, having drifted the Earth for over a thousand years, has seen all of life there is to see. Thus, when Hogwarts hosts a winter ball, she does not think it will be any different from the countless other balls that have taken place at the school over the years.

Winner of the Winter Snows' Melting A Winter Heart challenge.

Again, a beautifully crafted story. I'll leave it to others to point out the flaws in this diamond.

Author's Response: Thank you. Though, if you saw flaws, wouldn't it be better to tell me rather than hoping someone else comes along and finds the ones you found?

Love at First Strike by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: When Cupid and his trainee, Godfrey, arrive at Hogwarts, their plan is to bring some love into Angelina Johnson’s life. Cupid knows exactly who she should be with. Unfortunately, when Godfrey panics the second arrow ends up in a totally different place.

I am not JK Rowling; I doubt you're surprised by that.

While this wasn't the funniest story ever, it was well worth the read. Thanks for writing itl

Reconnaissance by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: On their first reconnaissance mission together Remus and Tonks escape from the Death Eaters thanks to her remarkable quick-thinking. Decamping to a Muggle pub Remus discovers she’s not as confident as he’d assumed. He’s always felt like the outsider – but perhaps he’s not alone?

The song featured in this one shot is Let's Dance by David Bowie.

I'm not JK Rowling - don't say you're surprised.

Good point about Metamorphamagi. As dangerous as it is to have a potion that lets you become someone else, to have people able to alter their appearance at will is asking for trouble--think about the criminal uses of such a talent!

The story itself was a delight; well done, with the characters behaving canonically.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review. I've always thought how great it must be to be a Metamorphmagus, but then it struck me that Tonks would have to lead such a sheltered life because she'd barely be able to control it - especially as her hair was changing from one hour old.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story - I do try to stick to canon and canon behaviour.

A Dream Come True by Afifa

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Everybody has dreams, and Lily is no different. She has grown up reading the same Fairy tale stories and has started dreaming about her Prince Charming. What she doesn't know is that her prince is right in front of her always asking her out. She continues refusing going out with James until the dream shows her that her prince is James.

A James/Lily one shot, which ends with a kiss.

Good story, great idea. Just a couple of rough spots where I'm not sure what you meant to say:

"She knew it was no use wishing for something, that she had to move one."

What did she have to move?

“I’m guessing you won’t be coming from breakfast either.”

Shouldn't that be "coming to breakfast"?

Author's Response: Okay, so I tried to remember, I even read the story twice but I can't find the first line you pointed out. :S But I guess it's just a typo and I mean 'on' and not 'one' if this line is included in the one shot.

About the other line, it's another typo. *blushes* It should be 'for'. Thank you for pointing it out, I'll edit it right away.

I'm glad you liked reading the one shot. Thanks for leaving a review! =]

Lovely little story, but there was a tiny little problem:

Albus felt a small smile on his face, and forced himself to calmly drink his own juice as he looked around the Hall, growing louder every moment.

Why was Albus growing louder every moment?

Author's Response: Well, it was the hall that was growing louder, not Albus - sorry if that wasn't clear! Thanks for reading and leaving a review! ~Gina :)

Chocolate Cheesecake by Cirelondiel

The Crumple-Horned Snorkack by OHara

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! This is my personal favorite of all my stories.

How far off would the time problem be if the Lovegoods were keeping English time and not the local time? As a trucker I crossed a lot of time zones and had to keep my watch and logbook set to my home time zone... And don't forget that in a deep forest things are a lot darker than in any clearings.

Author's Response: One of these days I'm going to get around to really fixing the time errors on this story. Thanks for pointing that out; I hadn't thought of it that way.

The Affectionate Bet by mutualunderstanding

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Harry and Ginny had a good reason for not showing any sign of their love when they dropped off their boys at the Hogwarts Express. They had just wanted to win their daughter a little money. After all, she was the only one who believed that they'd be able to keep their hands off of each other for two days. And what a fiasco that was.

Very good story, but the constant switching of tenses during the first kiss story needs to be fixed.

A beautiful story with only one typo that I tripped over: "I was a fourth year, on year behind your mum."

Author's Response: Oops. My bad. Thanks for letting me know, and thanks for reviewing!

A Truth Universally Acknowledged by luinrina

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •

Very well done, you certainly hit the emotional chords. BUT you need to either drop a couple of words or re-rate the story higher than 1st-2nd years.

Author's Response: Thank you! And I had totally forgotten about those swear words! I will absolutely put this up a rating : ) Thanks for the heads up.

Riddle by iamlordvoldemort

OK, so in this universe Tom gets to discover victory isn't everything it's cracked up to be... It's off to a good start; my only complaint is that it was listed as a completed story. So, are you going to take it further? I hope so!

Author's Response: It was originally intended to leave it up to the reader's imagination. However, if I feel inspired, I might convert it into a chaptered fic (and if the lovely mods allow me!). I'm glad you liked it and want to find out more. At the moment, though, I'm letting it remain as a one-shot.

Butterflies and Hurricanes by Astrid Skywalker

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: It is not the full moon, nor an alcoholic night gone wrong, nor a day before finals. No. It is the first meeting of junior members of the Order of the Phoenix, and Remus is terrified out of his wits.

A Remus-centric one-shot.

Lyrics taken from "Butterflies and Hurricanes" by Muse.

Very well written, good characterizations, and a new twist on the question of courage. Given LV's track record, and the fact that only a Dumbledore could face him down and live to tell the tale, anyone who signed on to fight him WAS likely to die. The question then becomes is it a cause worth dying for? Your story asked and, in a believable way, answered that question.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you! Yeah, I've always wondered myself whether there was a cause worth dying for, and I suppose that if you follow Sirius's logic, there is. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks again for the wonderful review. =)

The Other Weasley by eternalangel

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Percy Weasley has always lived a life that was framed by rules. He had loved them, to the extent of losing his family, but when the rules begin to turn on those they are supposed to protect, what will Percy do? This is the story of the boy who becomes a man, of a rule abider who becomes a rule breaker. This is the story of the other Weasley.

This is eternalangel submitting my final for the Character Exploration Class.

Fantastic! Thanks for filling in some major holes in Percy's story. I had hoped JKR would make him a mole in the Ministry for the Order, but that hope was denied me. Thanks for giving me an acceptable alternative.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review. I'm glad that you like this alternative for Percy. I appreciate the feedback!

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •

Apparating to King's Cross, she ends up on a train where she's surprised to meet a face from the past.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff, and this is my entry for the Bookbasilisk 'Life Begins at Forty' challenge.

Nicely done! You took some minor characters, added depth to their characterization, and told an interesting story at the same time. My only quibble is your attributing farsightedness to "old age." That's mostly because I passed forty over a decade ago and I'm still firmly middle-aged.

Author's Response: It was tongue-in-cheek, having just been issued with my own pair of glasses and was feeling my age as I wrote - ha ha. Thanks for the review
