Hmm. Time to rant.
Half-Blood Prince. This book frustrates me to the hair-ripping point because:
1. LENGTH. Jo- we LIKE to read what you write! It was too rushed!
2. HARRY AND HERMIONE. Yes, I'm a shipper, but she just blatantly seemed to rip them apart- I think she got tired of people guessing "Harry or Ron" and just comepletely destroyed their relationship. I don't know about everyone else, but the eye-rolling-scathing-Lavander-gut-hating-typical-horrible-NOT Hermione was not present in the first five books.
3. KING'S CROSS. It's a little thing, but it bugged me that she just cut it off at Dumbledore's funeral.
4. HARRY. Does anyone know what he was thinking? Besides having totally-random-out-of-no-where-I-love-her Ginny daydreams? Can we say, "huh?"
more later.
"Awe" does not do justice to what I think of your writing. How do you make it so raw and real without dropping it to soap-opera standards? This story is true brilliance- you might want to take it to JK herself. Hell, you could easily beat her with this chapter alone... please, PLEASE keep writing and posting whenever humanly possible- I'll be waiting, checking every day, to see this story unfold. Amazing work.
Author's Response: Wow!! "True brilliance..." I'm SO happy you think so! Ahh, I'm left all speechless now! Thanks very much LBD, yours words continue to inspire me to write. My day is thoroughly brightened! Next chapter's for you, dear. ;) <3
*jaw drops* Oh, dear god. To ME? Thank you! They will have to invent new words to describe how you write. They really will. No word in the english language comes close to expressing your talent, SecretKeeper. Just.. when I read this, it all makes so much sense, it flows, and it really makes me feel like the story is true. I'm serious. Challange Jo. You'll win. Another amazing chapter to a brilliant story, my friend. Keep 'em comin'.
Oh- and I'm reccomending this story to every Harry/Hermione shipper I meet. It shall soon be famous. *big grin*
This story just gets better and better. Wow. This is definately your best yet. Wow. And again. Wow. I cried- not because it was extremely sad, but because of how emotional and real and touching this was. Wow. I am amazed at how you translated their sixth year- taking their destroyed relationship and breathing life into it agin, making it better and more beautiful than ever. Wow. You- you are... wow. There are no words to describe this chapter, it's just... it makes you speechless for a few minutes while you wipe tears from your eyes, then finally you want to convey at least a hint of this emotion, so you babble away on a review- like now... WOW. I just- am overcome. UPDATE SOON- YOU'LL HAVE EVERY READER'S EYES GLUED TO THE SCREEN UNTIL THEN. And one last time. WOW!
I just have to keep coming back- you've now got a story dedicated to you, o brilliant one- mine. Nowhere near in the same universe as yourself, but I try. And there's another one on the way. Congratulations- you continue to inspire.
I've been gone forever, I know. Forgive me? Please please please? I'm just going back and re-reading this (how many times you must've heard these...) positively brilliant, ensanring, intoxicating, moving, evocative, deep, lovely story of yours. Expect a few more chapter (re)reviews, dearie. I just can't get enough. Update soon?
The suspense. The chemistry. The... way they put each other ahead of themselves ("Hermione needs her more than I do..."), the thisness... oh. Oh me. Do update soon.
All aforementioned adjectives at their finest. Other than that, I proclaim speechlessness, for no words I might muster up could compare to... that. Please... please... continue on your way, dear.
Amazing as always, dear Sadie!
Sorry for not reviewing for the last few chapters, but since school started back, I've been... well, you know how it is. *hugs* Trust me, I've missed it!!! I'd read a chapter, sit there and revel in it for a while, realize that I *should* be doing the buttload of homework I got, pound on the keyboard in anger at time in general, and have to run off. Terribly sorry.
And as for your author's note- I'm proud of you, really. You're going about this very realisticly, given the crap- I mean, HBP 'canon'- you had to work with. Haha.
I love how you've... transitioned everything. "Her features were arranged in apprehensive fervor, but the warm familiarity of the determination in her eyes relaxed his shoulders." How something old and familiar is becoming something... newly familiar (for lack of a better description). And applause for updating so quickly!
All the stars in the sky,
LBD
Author's Response: LBD! *huggles* Thanks so much dear. :) I know how time constraints can get in the way of truly important things, like fan fiction. *sigh* It\'s the cause of my very own late updates, so I sympathize. It\'s good to know you\'re still dedicated to the story though. That\'s all that matters. The day I lose you is the day I know I\'ve screwed up with the story. :)
AGH! *beats self up* A NEW CHAPTER? AND I DIDN'T FIND OUT TILL NOW ?!?!?!?!? *sighs* Not to worry; a few sentences from the brilliant (*gasps sarcastically* I haven't said that one before!) SecretKeeper and I was perfectly fine.
What are you? *suspicious look* Really? Some kind of... machine that just cranks out another amazing (again, look at all the new words I've learned!) chapter after another? Is that even legal? I hope it is, because I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Every second that Harry and Hermione are together is just… faultless. I love how you’ve developed their relationship- picking up the shattered remains of our beloved ship from the HBP-fiasco and molding them together into something… beautiful, new, yet at the same time, familiar. Some stories *blushes* (a bit like some of my attempts) just rush in, throw them together with some soap-opera-esque dialogue, and spoil what could be a delicious, ripe fruit (oh god, excuse my metaphorical babblings) by ripping it off the vine prematurely. *grimace* Anyway, Harry + Hermione + time + an inspired author (that’d be YOU, chicky) = extraordinary love that makes sense. In other words, 2 + 2 = 4. It’s that simple!
Another thing: I was expecting this to be the climax of the story, I really was. Both with Voldemort and Hermione (*rips hair out* WHEN WILL WE GET A KISS?!?!?!? WHEN, YOU SNEAKILY EVIL WOMAN?!?!?!?!? ), I was expecting the main problems to be pretty much resolved in this chapter. *laughs* Poor, simple, naive me. There’s so much more! We got over the little hill (warning: here she goes again…) and now, we must climb Mt. Everest. And you know what? I’m looking forward to every step of a sentence.
And one last thing: PLEASE submit this under General Fics. It would be a crime if you didn’t.
Ta-ta ‘till next time… and that’d better be SOON!
Author's Response: LOL!! *DIES* Awww, LBD, you absolutely crack me up! *Can\'t Stop Laughing* That was one of the best reviews I\'ve ever gotten, partially because of the enthusiasm, and partially because of the humor! \"What are you? *suspicious look* Really? Some kind of... machine that just cranks out another amazing (again, look at all the new words I\'ve learned!) chapter after another? Is that even legal?\" LMAO! Awww, thank you!! And I adore your \"metaphorical babblings,\" you have no idea how much they just brightened my day. :) And, you\'re quite right about this not being the climax... I was actually VERY nervous about putting a battle sequence in the middle of a story [I\'m nervous a lot, aren\'t I?] but to keep my plot, I really had no choice. But I am oh-so-glad you liked it. Alas, there are hurdles yet ahead... the romance aspect of the story is going to start REALLY showing, more than ever, and that in and of itself is going to cause some issues. ;) Not to mention, Charlie and Ron are passed out, AND! Don\'t forget about McGonagall! She\'s still at Hogwarts looking for Draco, who is looking for-- something else. *snickers* So yes, there is plenty left of this story to tell, but I daresay we\'ve reached the half-way point. Depends on where I choose to cut this off; haven\'t quite decided that yet. Anyway, thanks again love, you NEVER cease to make my day ten times better with your reviews! And I shall have to check out your stories now! When I do, I\'ll be sure to drop a review as well. ;) <3, Sadie
*rips stars from sky and slaps them to review* This... drips with pain. The way you describe the feelings, the setting.. the everything, it's just... I'm surrounded. (Not like I haven't said this before but that was) AMAZING. You improve with every chapter, Sadie!!!! MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH LOVE!
Author's Response: *RUNS AND HUGS* LBD! You bring so much light and happiness to my day with every review. Thank you so much for being one of THE best reviewers I've ever had. You're amazing. I am just beside myself with how you're reacting to the developments. It's gotten to the point where I truly do write for you. You've had two chapter dedications, and yet somehow I envision another before the end. Thanks again, love. xOxO
Author's Response: Oh, and P.S. -- I\'ve just reviewed your one-shot \"As Long As You Love Me.\" Thought you might like to know. :) I\'d tell you how moving I thought it was here, but you\'ll get enough of that when you read the review. <3!
Wonder if JK ever thought of dementors for the Horcruxes. Creative, you are.
Yes, yes, and three times, YES! This story is amazing! You make it all believable! *hatches evil plot to replace JK with you* Keep writing! Excellent work!
Author's Response: Wow!! What enthusiasm! That's what I like to see! Thanks so very much! And what a remarkably high compliment, to suggest I replace JK Rowling! *Blushes Scarlet* She's the original genius, not I! But... I agree she could use a very large pumpkin pie to help with her romantic endeavors. *wink* Thanks again, LBD, your words are so very encouraging. <3
This makes sense. This is why we ship Harry/Hermione. This is beautiful and pained and perfect in its own right. This better get updated soon. (Just kidding of course...ish, take all the time you need.)
*paces room* waiting... waiting... oh, for god's sake, hurry up! i need to know!!!
HEY! Are you gonna update soon?
*grins* Great chapter! Hurryhurryhurry- I want to know what happens next! No rush or anything... *twiddles thumbs* ACK! HURRY UP! IT'S ABSOBLOODYLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!
*pain* GO AWAY, RON! GO FIND LUNA! HARRY AND HERMIONE LOVE EACH OTHER! *waits for next chapter* C'MON, THIS HAS GOTTA CHANGE!!! HHR FOREVER!!!
Yay! I lovelovelove how you wrote this- it's kind of set in the middle of HBP, isn't it? It's great- like a what-if situation. Except your ending didn't turn out crappy like Jo's did. Very nice! I love it!
Author's Response: When i wrote this I was feeling pretty anti-HBP... but I\'ve since realized that Rowling knows what she\'s doing... (thanks to King - a fantastic author - read his ending comments on chapters and responses to reviews and you\'ll soon believe that us H/Hr people dont have to give up hope ... HBP was VERY cleverly written.
*wipes tears from eyes* touching. i'm at a loss for words, so i'll just leave you with that. *blows nose loudly* look forward to seeing more of your work soon.
Author's Response: *blushes* Thanks so much!
