Thus far, my only forays into fanfic have centered on Snape--barring Harry, I find him the most interesting, complex character JKR has created. I welcome feedback of any kind, as do most authors, so go read a story and review!

Tom Riddle and the Half Blood Prince by Zetera

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Parody of the Harry Potter series written and completed before the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It looks at the lives of some of the major characters as they wait impatiently for book six to arrive. Naturally, chaos ensues. Suitable for all.

Winner of the first annual Quicksilver Quills Award 2006 for best humor fiction. Thank you!

Oh, Zetera, this is such a lovely parody! This chapter takes things to a whole new level, both in terms of your writing and the plot! I adored Dumbledore's to-do list, and all the myriad ways you have woven your own zany and fabulous sense of humour into the canon. Voldie's tiring of Lucius's constant arse-kissing was priceless, as was Snape's bad breath and continued vindictiveness where HP and certain small white smushy treats are concerned and the LotR refs...and ADVANCED Dancing Against the Dark Arts--sign me up!

Author's Response: What a beautiful review - you wouldn't believe the size of my head after all your lovely comments. Thank you so much, I'm really, really happy that you're enjoying this, it's important to me that fans of HP think I'm doing a good job as it's a parody of what we all love - you know? I'd hate to mess with that.

"As the Dark Lord swept out of the room, Lucius made his way tentatively towards the cellar. He was determined to rid the Dark Lord of this terrible blight of marshmallows, and return to the normality of Ms. Rowling's original series." Just laughing...laughing and basking...laughing and basking in your comic talent. Slainte, Zetera! (Seventeen points...HA!!)

Author's Response: Ha ha ha - go raibh mìle maith agat, a Ghrainne. Slainte!

Poor postman! (Although it is relief to know that Voldemort also hates junk mail--guess he's not completely inhuman yet.) And Voldemort singing the cookie song...I'm wiping tears from my eyes. Thank you for another wild chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

Blood and locked boxes and people from potions...mysterious letters and speeches galore! All of the questions are simmering, mounting...I confess I'm like Snape and I can't wait to know more! Love it on the second go round, EllieK (I've linked to it in my bio, if that's alright with you!)

Author's Response: Grainne, I would be honored to be linked in your bio! The first time is always a bit awkward, if you ask me. Oh, er, maybe that is just for... anyway, thank you!

EllieK--Just dropping by to say how pleased I am to see this story featured!!! It is well-deserved!

Author's Response: *BLows the party whistle*

Who knew? Not me! This is truly exciting! Thank you, Grainne.

*Happy? Happy is a relative term for me--a distant relation.* Beautiful line. But I AM happy to see this story at Mugglenet! A few more favorite phrases *onslaught of dunderheads* and *plumb the depths* of Susan Jones (hmm?) This is such a grabber of a story!

Author's Response: Why, thank you so very much, Grainne! Coming from you, that is high praise!

**"ENOUGH!" he roared, spit flying to all corners of his stony office.*** Ah, Orlaith, what a fantastic visual and Snape moment extraordinnaire! I love how they interact...she is so unfazed by him (except after the spit of course!).

Author's Response: I am so happy when I hear such reviews from you, thank you! I'm glad you liked it, she seems to have no limits where Severus is concerned - I like it that way too. Again, thank you for enjoying the chapter, and for leaving such a lovely review!

Sneaky Miss Orlaith--so this is what you've been up to--well done! You have introduced an original (& definitely non-Mary Sue!) OFC whose grumpiness and weird brown hair I just adore. I also love her banter with Snape; I can't wait to see these two catch up on old times...up, up with humor! So glad you have crossed over into the "writer" category! [One bitty correction: I think "bedam" should be "bedlam"]

Author's Response: *Grins stupidly* I'm going to comb through it again, there are a few spelling and grammer mistakes I've only just noticed. You really don't know how much of an honour it is to hear such lovely words from an author such as yourself, I thank you, most graciously! You have made me the happiest I've been all week! Thank You!

Ooh, a lady who can make Snape quake in his boots. Very good, very good indeed [rubs hands together in glee]. Be afraid, Snape. Be very VERY afraid. Can't wait till he wakes up--tee hee!

Author's Response: *Grins* The next part is carefully thought out, believe me! I wouldn't forgive myself if It came out badly, but Severus, well needless to say, if he ever finds out... Sorcha would be wise to find a cave somehwere remote and stay there. Slainte Grainne, you've been wonderful!

**a pair of gleaming white pants masked his modesty** ahem...ahem...snigger...snort...HA! Oh, dear, the visions you have put into my head! I am so pleased to see that he has come a long way in the pants department since his "worst memory" ;) I do love seeing Snape with a good sparring partner. I look forward to more (and to the Finn to come!) Have a lovely evening, Orlaith.

Author's Response: Well, I think Severus has learnt his lesson since then (or I should hope he has...) Yes, Sorcha does like a good battle, and this one is unlikely to end on a happy note... or will it? Thank you so vey much Grainne, you have made my evening lovely!

That does it. I liked her before, but you know I love her now (she wrote a paper on Finn Mac Cumhail!) and carries her pimple with pride. Please, please don't let Dagnarus eat the squid! As you must know, I rather like the thing (although Athene says it is just fine with her!) Too many funny bits to quote; suffice it to say, Orlaith, that you have the "gift of the giggle."

Author's Response: *positively beams* You are absolutely wonderful! Sorcha doesn't have any plans to unleash dear Dagnarus upon the squid (though she just might do it to Snape, if he tries anything else!). Many thanks, I've a permanent grin making me look hurrendously silly glued to my face. Thank You!

Author's Response: I thought you might like to know that Finn Mac Cumhail will

feature again! I have the chapter written, but it doesn't fit in till later...cheers!

Ack, how did I miss that this had been updated? No matter, I've found it now--perfect tea break reading! *winks* "Settle petal" was my favourite of Sorcha's lines...and methinks that only she could get away with calling him that! Glad to see that she continues to one-up him.

Author's Response: I love the way sorcha just crosses the boundaries willy nilly, I think that poor Severus never really expected that at all, instill fear in most but not our Sorcha. Cheers! Tea... I do love it...

Oh, I see that Great Plans is featured, so all's "write" with the world. No there's nowt for Grainne to do but stand up and shout, "YOU GO GIRL!" Erm...sorry, Lisa. Too fangirly of me? But I just can't help but get excited when another of my favourite authors turns up in the featured section. Congrats!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Grainne! You can be fangirly as long as you're my fangirl. :-) I think we should form a mutual admiration society.

This is the most original point of view I have ever read in HP fanfic. I first noticed your story because it was just above mine on the humor page, but your summary hooked me, involving as it did a love triangle amongst 3 unpopular minor characters. Splendidly done, and good for Mrs. Norris! [one itty bitty thing--your note to your mod got left at the top of the story, if you want to go in and delete it] Thanks for the laughs!

Author's Response: Thanks for the heads-up (and the review). All fixed now!

Distraction by Jenn_Weasley

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Telara always knew she was special to her adoptive family. But she never knew how special she really was until Albus Dumbledore took her back to England and the wizarding world. Now she faces her biggest challenge ever. Fitting in at Hogwarts? No – she can do that. Will she be able to help Harry Potter win the war against Voldemort? For everyone’s sake – let’s hope so.

Over 4200 reads! Thanks so much everyone!! This was written Pre-HBP. You'll have to suspend new canon a bit for me.

For my faithful (and new as well) reviewers: I've been practicing my amateur publishing skills and have made a paperback version of this story. If you would like a copy, let me know and I'll send one out. I might even make a collection of all my stories if anyone is interested. Thanks!

How fun it would be to "do" Diagon Alley with Dumbledore! I am jealous of Telara. The bit with the painting made me giggle just as much the second time round. Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! DD would be a great shopping partner - if only to find out where he got the wonderful gadgets in his office. I'm glad you liked it.

I agree with what someone said below--I love that you have fleshed out Ollivander's character a bit with the creation of your original characters. I am already curious about Telara's true parentage, Dumbledore's plans for her, and what she will make of Hogwarts. Lovely beginning!

Author's Response: Thank you! All will be revealed - eventually ; ).

I've been away for a bit, so it was a real pleasure to come back to two chapters! The last one, especially, tickled me no end. From your thoughtful treatment of Lupin's reappointment and recognition of the physical endurance needed for defensive magic to the silly bits with the transfigured horses, bits of tension with Draco, and our first scene with Snape (huzzah!), this chapter shows what you do so well--recreate the tempo and feel of the original books with a sassy new protagonist and your own little twists. I simply adore the fact that Telara finds Snape merely "a bit irritable." I chuckled long and loud at that, and the final lines struck just the right chord of looming menace. Thanks for such a good read, Jenn Weasley!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! You've given me a great start to my day!!! I appreciate the details you noticed (and that you liked them : )). Thank you also for perservering the log in issues to leave a review. It means a lot to me!

I agree with CraftySlytherin. It is nice to see Telara interact with Parvati, and I think you made a wise choice not to insert her directly into the trio. I enjoy her relationship with Dumbledore. And as for the sorting...the mystery begins!

Author's Response: I like Telara and Dumbledore's relationship too. I didn't intend for it to be such a big part of the story, but it just happened that way. I'm glad you paid attention to the sorting. It was a little clue to Telara's background that she doesn't even know about - yet. Thanks for reviewing!

I'm so pleased to see this posted! The emotional impact is still there for me, even after the third or fourth reading. As SIW said, I feel lucky lucky lucky! ;-)

Author's Response: You\'re the best, Grainne! I can\'t wait to meet you at Lumos!
