The Unseemly Proposal by sparx

Summary: The reign of Voldermort comes to an end, and with it ends the prestige and power Lucius Malfoy once had in the Wizarding World. In order to regain the respect of his fellow wizards and to make them believe that he has turned over a new leaf (which he actually hasn't) and has graciously accepted muggles and Mudbloods, Lucius asks Hermione, a Mudblood, to marry his son, Draco, a pure-blood. Obviously, they both refuse, but Lucius isn't going to give up easily. After all, he wants his status back. He still has a few tricks up his sleeve and is determined to play match-maker. What happens next is a series of events that serve only to bring Hermione and Draco closer, both literally and figuratively speaking. So, I was saying, really nice chapter this is! I feel really bad for Parish's wife and daughter, also the muggle slytherin. It was a kind of cruel aspect of the story. I hope you won't kill half the characters off along the way like JKR did though, lol. Or do, but don't kill off Fred. That was one of the evilest, cruelest...what am I going on about...back to your fic, lol.
It's kinda funny that after the whole dialogue between Harry and Lucius (the whole teach you a lesson bit) that Lucius invites him to MM in the summer, lol.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next and final chapter of this installment! (will go read that summary now =) )
Author's Response: Well, I will be killing a bunch of people. Acutally, now that I think about it, a few more than was in the books...you\'ll see much, much later.
Mr. Malfoy believes that what he did was for Harry\'s own good and still wants him to come over to his home, but Harry\'s not so sure he forgives the man just yet.

Hi! I just thought I'd tell you that a couple of days ago, I read the whole 42 chapters in almost one shot. My eyes have really suffered, lol. But it is soooo good! I couldn't help it! It is really really extremely interesting and I hope chapter 43 gets validated soon! I also read the first one and there is something I feel rather remarkable. I do not know whether it is because your writing style has changed or what but in the first one, the way Harry and the others were thinking and acting was so...naive. They were really acting like kids, which I found was well done. I would have liked leaving a review for every chapter but you must forgive me, I couldn't stay on the internet for long, my siblings needed it. So...I had just copied the whole story. Well! I'm with you starting now! So, while awaiting the next chapter, work hard on the continuation and best of luck!!

I liked that line. Their conversation was amusing. I'd like to hear more about why draco kissed her though. Had he planned it all along or did he do it despite his hate to try to speed the process up and finish his task? And his thoughts afterwards? Does he regret it? Update soon =)

great chapter! I was actually at work and checking my email, when I saw there was an update. So I read the chapter on my cell =) (couldn't wait! grins).
As always, I really enjoyed this. The whole “You’re beneath me.” was brilliant!
You know, I was actually laughing out loud and ppl were looking...I couldn't help it, you just have the power to make me laugh!
I notice that Draco...you know he went to her willingly. So that means he really is desperate to find someone to talk to. Thats kinda sad...for him! He's trying to...hmm...make it all like before (insulting her and all) because he does not like the task set in front of him...being forced to do whatever.

The idea is interesting. There are some little things that make this piece so-so though. I feel that the characters -Ron and Hermione- aren't in-character enough. They are like...not serious enough. I know you said it was the stress and all but...it is a little bit unlikely that with the battle two feet away, they'd waste a whole 10 minutes joking and laughing about the noises they made as they attempted to speak parseltongue. I'm not saying its bad! I'm saying it was a little over-done. I hope I don't sound mean or anything, really! Maybe it's just me. It's my opinion...
Nonetheless, I really look forward to the second part! I hope they won't waste any more time! I do wonder, will they encounter any other obstacles on the way there? Will the Basilisk's spirit be haunting the place or something? Or will they just go and retrieve the venom? And how will they get the fang out (if they'll take a fang) - because Harry had used the sword...
