I love the Harry Potter books. I even sort of maybe very probably might like the films (I think), even though they left out Peeves. John Williams is a genius - I was sad when he stopped doing the music. Patrick Doyle is great - just not John Williams!

I love "Moments of Bliss" by Moonymaniac, it is well worth checking out.

To Be Or Nott To Be by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Theodore Nott has never had much respect for anyone but himself. But after being summoned by Lord Voldemort to join the Death Eaters, his world turns upside down, and he finds himself questioning everything, including his own values and beliefs. Darkish, but with surprisingly light and fluffy bits, kind of like my Dad's pancakes or a truly hideous dress that my Mum once bought for me.

Written by Schmerg_The_Impaler from Hufflepuff House for the Gauntlet's 3rd run. Whoot!

Never read a story about Theodore Nott before, and this one was a gem. I loved it. You are a really good writer, and I have thoroughly enjoyed hiding from the children and reading your fiction! (Needed some time to myself!) One-shots are so difficult, and you have everything in this one yet it is still fluid and well put together.

Author's Response: Thanks very much! This is personally my favourite fanfiction that I\'ve written, thus far, though it doesn\'t receive much reader attention.

Lord Voldemort... and Bob? by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: For Lord Voldemort, life is going swell, and everything is juuust peachy... until a ghostly visitor arrives. EXTRAORDINARILY silly.

EDIT: For some bizarre reason that I can't fully comprehend, this story WON the "Things that Go Bump In The Night" challenge in the Winter's Tale Challenge.

Excellent! I think this is really good, and someone should hire you to do Monty Python type scripts. I enjoyed it immensely.

Author's Response: Hey, thanks very much! I am on the improv team and am the world\'s biggest Monty Python fan, so that pretty much made my... life!

Broken Hearts by emmaholloway

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Ginny has a dilemma. Harry wont wake up and being his wife it is up to Ginny to decide whether to leave him to sleep in hope of a miracle, or take a chance that could end in death.
She loves him, but is this all that is effecting her decision?

Well... I was going to read your story and review, since you were so nice as to read all of mine, and then I was going to write some more of my fic, but now I am too depressed. Sob, sob. And how could Ginny let the money go to the ministry? They were so horrible to Harry. I would have left it to Hogwarts.

You are very good at getting your reader to believe one thing is going to happen and then twist the ending. Well done! Can't wait to read your next fic.

Author's Response: well we are both in the same boat now so neither of us can complain. I am so glad you liked it. I am actually working on a prequel to this story which will be longer and hopefully better. I feel more confident now that ive got one accepted. I am just about to post the first chapter. im very excited. thanks again. Emma x x x

How Ironic, Mr. Malfoy by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lucius Malfoy is most infamous for being excessively proud of his ancestry and for his disdain for Muggle-borns. But what if he received a letter that changed everything? Takes place during OotP, and it's AU.

Contains snippets of humour.

For the "Dreams" challenge in the fanfiction beta boards... I am Schmerg_The_Impaler of Hufflepuff House.

But does Alexander MacHamish come into money??? That might pad the anguish a bit for poor old Lucius! Also I doubt whether the Dark Lord's soul is resting, pieces or no pieces.

What a comuppance! Very funny. Is this a one shot, or are you writing a companion piece for Draco? If so I would love to read it...

Author's Response: Hmmm... interesting thought... I think Lucius/Alexander came into his inheritance at the age of 17 and got even more stuff after his father died because, again, his father NEVER knew that he wasn\'t his biological son. There will be a second (and possibly third) chapter to this story... but oddly enough, I haven\'t even thought about Draco. That WOULD be an interesting companion piece. Draco as a halfblood, hmmm... and then there\'s Narcissa: \"I MARRIED A WHAT?!\"

Wonderful! I must admit that I was a bit taken aback at first about the darkness that seemed to be creeping in, as I worried that your humor (which I look forward to) might become less frequent. But then he woke up. Excellent story.

Author's Response: *Does a little dance* Thank you! I love Lucius, and sometimes, I feel like I have to write darkish stories about my favourite characters (although my silliest yet should be up sometime in March-- the sequel to The Dark Lord\'s Blog.)

Lord Voldemort and the Deathly Hallows by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lord Voldemort made a deal with someone who even he considers superior, and if he doesn't fulfill his side of it, then he'll be mortal again!

I am Schmerg_The_Impaler of Hufflepuff house, and this is my submission for the Deathly Hallows prompt in the New Year's Challenge.

Although this story's a one-shot for the challenge, I may add more chapters after the contest is over.

EDIT: Dude! This story came in second in the "Deathly Hallows" prompt of the New Years' Challenge! So, let's do the "2nd Place Dance!" (It's a lot like the Cha-Cha slide.)

Not that I am against you writing fan fiction, but I hope you are writing something completely original at the same time. Your creative use of language could pay for your college instead of making us happy. I really enjoyed this, as I enjoy all your work. I will read all your fan fiction, but would love to go into a store and buy something you had written!

Author's Response: Awww, thank you so much! I\'m actually blushing as we speak (er... type, that is). Now, I shall let you in on something: Ummm... don\'t get offended, readers of fanfiction, but I ususally write my fics when I should be paying attention in class or when I can\'t sleep at night. They really don\'t take too long to write. I am always working on at least one \"big\" piece of non-fanfiction writing-- right now, it\'s a modern-day retelling of \"Hamlet,\" with a twist. I do hope to be an author when I grow up, although definitely for kids/teens. I don\'t see myself as writing extremely serious novels with ground-breaking social commentary!

Ashes of Stars and Rain by Visceral Love

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: There is nothing more potent than pure love. Luna and Draco have accepted love, but can they bring themselves to accept the changes that it has wrought? The answers lay between the ashes of stars and rain.
Reviewer: Buckbeak22 Signed
Date: 03/11/07 Title: Chapter 1: Ashes of Stars and Rain

This was desperately sad and had a very bitter flavour. I would prefer Draco to remain a villain rather than have Luna lose her radishes! Very well written, and I enjoyed it.

Author's Response: Thank you for the lovely poetic response. Unfortunately love often works out that while we gain something immeasurable we also lose something equally immeasurable, usually in relationships we don\'t notice what we lose, in a situation like this I hoped to make it painfully clear. Thanks so much again for your review.

A Matter Between Us by Visceral Love

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: "What made you think he'd really stopped supporting Voldemort, Professor?"

Dumbledore held Harry's gaze for a few seconds, and then said, "That, Harry, is a matter between Professor Snape and myself."

Guilt and sacrifice are more intertwined than we would like to believe. Dumbledore did not always so blindly believe in love. He is about to be enlightened.

Reviewer: Buckbeak22 Signed
Date: 03/14/07 Title: Chapter 1: A Matter Between Us

I enjoyed this story. It isn't uplifting in the promise of redemption. Indeed, there is an almost harsh realization that redemption is costly and guilt ridden.

Dumbledore is wise and in spite of himself, an optimist in his estimation of character, and is very true to the books. Snape remains Snape. There is no glamor about him, and nothing of the hero. He is human, and even as he accepts Dumbledore's proposition there is an uneasy feel at the end of the story. One knows what has been said, but we are left wondering how much we may trust the power of a remembered love against the corrupting fear and darkness Snape will be exposed to.

Despite the subject, which is one of hope, there is an undercurrent of bitterness and despair which seems very emotive. I very much enjoyed the meshing of the two.

Author's Response: I love your reviews, you leave delightfull ones. I\'m glad you thought this story was emotive as one of my worries was that it wasn\'t. I tried out a bit of a simpler style here and I\'m glad to see that it pulled though. I\'m also very glad that you liked my characterization of Dumbledore as that was my main goal. But perhaps my largest triumph was in that you don\'t think of snape as a hero. I try to create unsympathetic heros and sympathetic bad guys (though there really wasn\'t a bad guy here), and my goal is to make everyone equally weak. I\'m suprised you felt the hope at all, it was a dark peice. Thanks once again for your lovely reveiw. -Visceral Love

The E-Journal of an Evil Janitor by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: It's the sequel to "The Dark Lord's Blog," guys! (And girls... and, I don't know, gender-neutral people and centaurs and walruses and parameciums and shrubs and stuff.)

Several months have passed since Filch came into possession of Voldemort's magical powers, and he has taken over Hogwarts.

With Filch serving as The Dark Lord Snoogerblossom, the position of Hogwarts caretaker/janitor is open. Seeing as Voldemort wants his magical powers back, he and his extremely attractive new sidekick, Mungo Phelps, go undercover at Hogwarts, with Mungo posing as a transfer student and Voldemort posing as the new janitor. Wacky high-jinks ensue.

Join Voldemort as he tries to get back his magic, kill Harry Potter, steal Gryffindor's sword to make a shiny new Horcrux, romance Minerva McGonagall, discover Sirius's secret to becoming a chick magnet, and swallow a teaspoon of his pride to mop up spills the Muggle way and wear an unflattering uniform! WARNING: Extremely silly and very out-of-character.

If you haven't read "The Dark Lord's Blog," well, what are you doing? GO READ IT NOW! Just click on my author name and you'll be directed to my chaotic author page, which lists all my wacky stories.

This is on hiatus, dudes. Ooh! But it was twice nominated by nice (and insane) people for the Best Humour Fic award in the Quicksilver Quills thingy!

Also, some wonderful loony nominated Mungo Phelps for Best Male OC, making him if possible even more conceited! (No one had the heart to tell Mungo that he was designed as an example of a terrible OC.)

Excellent. Except that you have one sentence that ends "and pudding that" May be my computer though.

Author's Response: Oh, that was the bit where Voldemort trailed off because he noticed that his pudding was moving. I\'ve gotten a lot of complaints about that... I should have made it clearer with an ellipsis or something.

The Son of the Grim by James Jameson

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: It was thundering like mad now. The rain was pounding down in all directions. Sammie coughed and spluttered as she stumbled out of the lake, gasping for air and dragging Lucy’s unconscious body with her. “Aunt Beatrice!” Sammie shouted over the wind and rain. “Aunt - Aunt Beatrice!” Sammie laid Lucy down in the overgrown grass, wincing at the scarlet blood that was dripping from the wound in Lucy’s side and neck from where the mermaids had pierced her. “Aunt Beatrice! Where are you? AUNT BEATRICE!” Panting and heaving, Sammie tried to support her bleeding friend, whose blood has now soaking Sammie’s robes even further. She glanced around, scouring the grounds despairingly. No one came. She screeched in desperation, pulling Lucy off the ground and searching for any sign that her aunt was here. “Aunt Beatrice...?” she whispered hopelessly, crying now. No one came. “Help me...somebody...please,” She began sobbing uncontrollably now. Her tears mingled with rain and blood, seeming as though they poured right through her skin and were drowning her. She felt as though someone was lifting her by the back of her robes. Is this how it feels when you’re lifted to heaven? Am I dying? She didn’t know that, and she didn’t know whose arms were wrapped around her. All she knew was that they had failed, Aunt Beatrice had betrayed them, Verudka was now dead, and Lucy was surely dying.

Slytherins and Gryffindors hate each other. Malfoys and Potters hate each other. But can one fateful trip to Diagon Alley, a potion, and tragedy change all of that for Sammie and Lucy?

I think this is a very promising beginning, but I would make one small change: babies born three months early are usually very small and need to stay in incubators. I wondered if you had meant three weeks? Also it is very rare for newborns to giggle. They usually want to eat...and eat...and eat... (Been there, done it and bought the T-shirt). The waiting around and the actual births were very realistic.

I really liked the Draco bits. He is still as awful as ever, and not "reformed". I also thought the way the young adults revert back to being students at the appearance of McGonagall was very amusing!

I am looking forward to reading the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks for the very supportive review. My second chapter is with my beta, so it could still be a while... (she\'s quite slow) but i have about ten chapters already waiting. Thanks so much for reviewing.

Oh No, Nott Again! by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Our boy Theodore Nott thinks he’s signed up for a position in the Department of Mysteries. Little does he know that he’s been roped into something a bit more… deathly.

Rollicking fun, dry commentary, suspense, and heavy doses of surrealism with the Grim Reaper and company, including a surprise guest at the end. Written for the Gauntlet challenge by Schmerg_The_Impaler of the grand house of Hufflepuff.

Technically a companion piece to “To Be Or Nott To Be,” but who’s counting? It also stands on its own just as well.

Looks like the judges got drunk again, because they were insane enough to give this story Second Place in the gauntlet. Somewhere, all the famous dead writers are rolling over in their graves, but I, for one, am feeling very squeeful at this undeserved reward! Thanks, judges!

The Only Thing by moonymaniac

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Lily Potter’s love and sacrifice for her son is legend. But there was another member of the Potter family. James Potter was more than an arrogant toerag who finally grew up, more than a Marauder, more than a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He was a father.

How on earth would a man like James Potter handle that responsibility, at the tender age of twenty, especially at a time when his world was crumbling all around him?
