I am a thirtysomething mother of two, a boy and girl, both too young to read HP. I am obsessed with Harry Potter, especially anything to do with Severus Snape. However, my favorite author is Anne McCaffrey, and my favorite fictional character is Afra from McCaffrey's Tower and Hive series. Severus is a close second, though.

My favorite movie is The Abyss, but only the extended version. The original theatrical release made no sense.

I love reading HP fanfiction. I would like to write more myself, but alas, I have neither the time nor the patience. Maybe someday.

Be Not Proud by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Severus Snape has just killed Dumbledore and is thus considered the most loyal servant of You-Know-Who. But his new position as headmaster of Hogwarts leaves him with more challenges than he ever anticipated.

Nicole Shaw never understood why she had been Sorted into Slytherin. Now, at the age of seventeen, the Sorting Hat’s choice is going to lead her into a dangerous situation. She cannot find it in her to accept the new regime at Hogwarts, but she is too scared to take action either.

This is a story about the painful reality of Hogwarts under Voldemort's control. Whilst Harry, Ron and Hermione have disappeared to find Horcruxes, life at Hogwarts must somehow go on ...

So, they are looking for the Elder Wand at the DoM? Would they even know what to look for?

How would the Mirror be used to torture students? Because they wouldn't understand what they were seeing?

I'm a bit confused about the timing. If it is Hallowe'en, graduation would be more than 6 months away. Their school year last until the end of June (well, unless that has changed this year, too).

Yay to more Luna.

I've run out of chapters to read. Please update.

Author's Response: Hey, Thank you for so many lovely reviews! In regards to POV, I understand why it can be a little confusing but I hope it becomes obvious within a couple of lines who is speaking. Usually I alternate between the two, though occaisonally I'll begin a new chapter from the same POV as the one that left off. Luna is going to be in a lot because I love Luna very much. Ginny is a difficult character to write because I don't think JKR gave us much to work with. I kept in mind that she was really missing Harry, really angry with the regime at Hogwarts, and therefore less likely to trust someone on face value. I know she may seem OOC but the circumstances mean she has to be more cynical toward Nicole. Please carry on with the concrit - it is really useful!

So the password was "Harry"? I have trouble picturing Ginny the way you describe her. I know she is tenacious and fiercely loyal to Harry, but I didn't see her as so angry and suspicious. It's and interesting perpective.

Author's Response: I took a liberty and assumed that the spiral staircase would be 'loyal' to Dumbledore and Harry, since it refused Umbridge from entering the headmaster's office in Harry's fifth year. Ginny will learn to trust Nicole eventually, but for now she's being stubborn.

Summary: After the fall of Voldemort, an inexplicable illness plagues the surviving Death Eaters. Albus Dumbledore has a plan to save Severus Snape—but how, exactly, is Hermione Granger involved?

I feel as though I keep reading the same chapter over and over. Is there going to be any progression, or are they just going to keep doing the same dance? Isn't it time for another meeting with Dumbledore? What does he think of all this?

I like this story, but you never respond to my reviews, so....

I loved the part where they both broke their quills. Too funny.

I'll write more later. Real life beckons.

A little predictable, but then, was there ever any doubt about where this story was headed? LOL. Poor Severus. After all he's been through, he never learned to tell time. (j/k) Will this get him into trouble with DD, though? Then again, how is Hermione supposed to help him if he isn't allowed to interact with her? Thanks for your quick updates! Your stories are always a joy to read.

Aw, poor Severus. He just can't seem to get his timing right.

So, why did she forgive him? He was mean, and he wasn't any better in the alcove. So why the friendly overtures? Oh, Hermione.

I am enjoying this story and am happy that you update frequently. I was going to add it to my Favorite Stories, but then I remembered that I have you on my list of Favorite Authors. So I just check it there.

Why in Merlin's name would Luna go to Severus Snape for advice/help?!?

So do we even know if it is possible for SS to remain as Adin? Didn't DD say he had never used the charm before?

He's given her another clue. Is "the cleverest witch of her age" smart enough to figure it out yet?

I'm glad you posted this story here. Poor Severus--after facing DEs and the Dark Lord and Nagini, he doesn't know how to handle childbirth.

I actually don't much like reading birth stories because I had such problems with my own (though both kids are just fine now). But I like that you acknowledge that labor is worse than Crucio. That made me laugh.

Author's Response: I'd like to keep posting here, but all depends on the validation issues. My fingers are crossed. I've "met" a mod who has been a HUGE help. Glad you enjoyed the short. another is in queue. Dani

Dani, I've read your story before, but I'm just feeling like quite the dunderhead. It is a dream, right? The wail of the banshee is Kat's cry, incorporated into his dream? I've had that happen before. It is a good reminder that Severus and Daniela still must remain vigilant, even in their "peaceful" new existence. On an unrelated note, I wished someons a happy Beltane yesterday, and she seemed really happy! I had never heard of Beltane until I read "Life in the Interim." So thank you for helping me to make someone else's day a little bit happier.

Author's Response: Yes, it’s a dream that turns into reality. His traveling cloak was the sheet. The difficulty walking, a possible tangle. The banshee was Katrina crying. Maneuvering through the moor was him trying to get out of bed to reach his bedroom door. The weaving through the trees to get to the house was his attempt to traverse the hall. :-D Words and imagination can be so much fun. That’s all I’m doing with my favorite pair for the moment. I’m working on a story with a different twist. It stands on it’s own, but you may be able to see the connection with the trilogy. Thanks for the review and keep in touch. Dani

I'm glad you're posting this story here. I presume that means the queue problems have been resolved?

Author's Response: I hope so.For the last few months, waiting hadbecome very frustrating, but thanks to Hannah, I think we've got the problem settled. This story has a different pace from the trilogy, but you should be able to see the connections. It also stands alone which is good for those who haven't read the previous ones. Dani

Summary: In the years since the fall of Voldemort, Severus Snape has lived outside of Britain. Ha! Just this past weekend I was visiting someone's home and saw a caption I liked: I babyproofed the house, but the kids keep getting in anyway.

Cute story, but I want to know what kind of mischief they get into in Diagon Alley.

Snape´s Christmas Carol by ssnapelover

I enjoyed this take on the Dickens story (quite a lot more than the original story, in fact). One nitpick, though--Harry knew in canon that Severus loved his mum; he told Voldemort as much. No biggie, though. And Scrooge is a nearly perfect model for Snape. So if Ebenezer can change, so too can our Severus.

I read very quickly and likely will have more to say later, but for now just one quesiton: In your version, can Dumbledore understand the twins when they speak Parseltongue? And if so, do they realize it? (Sorry if this was addressed and I just missed it.)

Author's Response: No, Dumbledore can't speak Parseltongue. Dumbledore never says anything about it because he realizes it is just a means for the twins to communicate to each other and the headmaster allows for the twins to keep their bond.

Summary:

Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts.

But I am waiting for him.

I who loved his mother, detested his father for taking her away from me. I deserved Lily Evans. I gave my word to protect her son. But how shall I stop myself? I want to see a young, helpless James Potter sqirm and writhe under my gaze....

I love Severus. : ) I like your premise. I would love to write the whole series from Severus's point of view. He is a fascinating character.

Author's Response: Well, that's sort of what I'm working on - except only the important parts. For example, we don't exactly want to hear how upset he is about the third year Hufflepuff's untidiness. And yes, he is an amazing character : he's probably the deepest one, then Dumbledore. They're both just so interesting! ;)
