I am determined to change this ridiculously out of date page.

My name is Laura, twenty years old, and a student at Durham University. Yes, that can at times mean I am an opinionated know-it-all, but usually only to do with matters occuring during the 16th and 17th Century. I'm originally from South Yorkshire, reside in Nottinghamshire, and generally end up all over the place.

I have an obsessive love for a dead woman called Anne Boleyn. Everytime I hear Phillipa Gregory's posh voice talk about how this "remarkable woman" changed the face of England, it makes me inspired to write a better story than the hideous one that she did with "The Other Boleyn Girl". Not that this is my only reason for spending so much time engrossed in history books only vaguely relevent to my course. I love Anne because she is a woman of so many ambiguities. The more I learn about her, the more I realise how little we know of her. She is my muse for many small projects and I have ambitions she'll be the muse for a big one, too.

I love horse riding, writing, banner-making and reading Snape-centric fanfiction. I have an imagination more interesting than my life and am very rubbish at coping with simple things, like walking in the right direction. I am happy to waste away an afternooh watching Top Gear or go for a stroll in my local park with my doggy called Sarah and car called Musher.

I enjoy travelling, evident by my around-the-world trip to Australia, China, New Zealand and America last summer. Countries I hope to visit include Ireland, Paris (plus France again, I guess), Africa, Italy, South America and various others.

You may notice a few stories missing. I'm sorry to say that I don't see myself completing them, so I feel it's only fair to delete them so that people aren't anticipating chapters that will never arrive. I did have fun writing them, but it's just a case of not having time to complete them!

Be Not Proud by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Severus Snape has just killed Dumbledore and is thus considered the most loyal servant of You-Know-Who. But his new position as headmaster of Hogwarts leaves him with more challenges than he ever anticipated.

Nicole Shaw never understood why she had been Sorted into Slytherin. Now, at the age of seventeen, the Sorting Hat’s choice is going to lead her into a dangerous situation. She cannot find it in her to accept the new regime at Hogwarts, but she is too scared to take action either.

This is a story about the painful reality of Hogwarts under Voldemort's control. Whilst Harry, Ron and Hermione have disappeared to find Horcruxes, life at Hogwarts must somehow go on ...

The Book of Venom by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Eighteen months after the Final Battle, Hermione Granger is struggling with the expectations placed upon her as 'the greatest witch of her age'. Stuck in a job she doesn't really want, she is given the task of locating an ancient book that the Ministry fears contains Magic's greatest evils. Now, as a young woman, she finds herself embarking upon a dark and dangerous adventure without Harry or Ron's support.

Lucius Malfoy has just been released from Azkaban Prison after being found innocent. His main priority is to re-establish his once highly prestigious position within Wizarding Society. However, Narcissa and Draco have both changed since the war and he discovers that the idyllic family household that he once enjoyed power over is gone forever.

Please note: This will result in a romance between my two leading characters at some point in the story, though I promise it isn't the absolute focus point as it is in Warmth

The Dark Arches by Insecurity

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Lily is the southern lass who is unaccustomed to the industrial north. Severus is the fiercely independent and scruffy local. They have one thing in common: they can both do magic! This one, defining factor forges the strangest friendship and leads to mutual affection. Together, they face problems from their parents and the local bullies, in order to discover the power of magic together.

I owe thanks to several, wonderfully helpful people. Firstly, Erika/VV for beta'ing my story. Secondly, to Gary for finding Holbeck and pointing me to several very useful sites for research. Thirdly, to Jan for the dialect advice. Fourthly, to Beth and Alice for their help with dialect and mannerisms. I may have been born in Sheffield, but this project has made me realise just how Midlands I am!

Chocolate Button Eyes by Insecurity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Chris White is a primary school teacher who is bitterly disappointed with the educational system. When ten-year-old Estela joins his class midway through the year, he is faced with his toughest challenge yet. At first he cannot believe what is happening before his very eyes. Then, as he gradually grows to accept the unexplainable, he forms a close friendship with a child who has nobody else in the world to turn to.

A thousand thank yous go to Kumy for her amazingly thorough Beta job! *hugs*

Cherry Blossom by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: I was trying to get to sleep the other night, but I was really angry with love and romance and formal occasions that endorse love and romance. This scenario came to me quite suddenly, and I had to write it out. Bellatrix and Rodolphus became my pawns and I have managed to turn what was originally about me and my frequant angsty moods into a May challenge entry. Sorry this is late and unbeta’d.

This is an entry into the May one-shot challenge. Both Bellatrix and I are Ravenclaws.

Being For the Benefit of Mr Potter by Insecurity

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: We all believe that Peter Pettigrew was the weakest and least courageous of all the Marauders. But what if he did have a backbone? What if his reasons for betraying James Potter were not due to fear or bad influence, but rather the result of obsession and great resentment?

Entry into the April One-Shot Challeng, which I happened to win

Lament To A Lone Soul by Insecurity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: I am a Ballad Challenge contestant for Ravenclaw. The ballad tells the tale of Sirius' time in Azkaban, his escape and his death.

The Weaker Vessel by Insecurity

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Just hours after he kills Dumbledore, Severus' unknown and elusive wife reflects over the great troubles ahead and the breakdown of her marriage.

This is an entry into the February challenge. I am in Ravenclaw (for reasons only known to my inner-child, I now going by the username TyrannoLaurus.)

Warmth by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Hermione is abandoned by Harry during their quest to find Malfoy Manor. She is close to exhaustion when she stumbles over her coveted location. She assumes that nobody is home, the Malfoy's are either on the run or locked in Azkaban prison, and therefore she decides to use the manor as a shelter.

This happens to be a Lucius/Hermione story (Yes, I know I am attempting the impossible.) It is rated R for later chapters

I have edited this story down to make it a small ficlet - because I just know I will never get around to finishing it. Don't worry, it still makes sense. I've cut it off at the part where I initially intended to finish it

Lacrima Serpentis by Insecurity

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: This story is set in the dystopian society of Wizarding England under the control of Voldemort. Fifteen years after leaving Hogwarts, Harry Potter is in hiding; he fears the words of the Prophecy and has lost the will to fight. This story tells the tale of an adult Hermione who sacrifices everything: her family, her moral beliefs and eventually her dignity, in order to save the Wizarding world. She becomes a Death Eater under the recommendation of someone she barely trusts. She struggles to find the courage and strength, but with every choice she makes she gets deeper and deeper into danger.

Chapter 33 is finally up. Thank you for your support and patience..

Emancipation by Insecurity

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Aurelia must overcome her own fear of freedom and the fear of her tyrannical father in order to survive the Summer Solstice Ball.

Submission to Challenge Number 2. It's also a bit of a spin-off from Warmth.

A Light Hits The Gloom by Insecurity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Exactly one year after Dumbledore's death, Snape is forced to return to Hogwarts. He expects to be in and out quickly, without any lamenting on times gone by or any interruptions. The castle is empty, having been closed down the previous summer, and he finds it very unnerving. But when he finds Hermione scurrying around his storeroom his plans change quite rapidly. This is my EXTREMELY long response to the SPEW Anniversary challenge. *Nudges readers* Please review!

Warthogs School of Tyranny and Tomfoolery by Insecurity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Warthogs is the reverse of Hogwarts. Everybody's personality is the contrary to in the books. It is a "humour fic" (If I even dare call myself funny) that tells the tale of the Final Battle. I wrote this because I was sick of writing depressing stories about unrequited love and death. It makes a light change to the rest of my collection.

The Prodigal Son by Insecurity

Rated:
Summary: When Lord Voldemort takes over the Ministry, Percy is left confused as to where his loyalties lie. He is brainwashed into believing that his family are the enemy and that the purge of “filthy blood” is necessary for the Wizarding world’s survival. The Weasley family are now in grave danger, as there are no limits to how far Percy will go to serve his new master. This fan fiction contains the theme of death and murder, including a few traumatic images. I’ve put it at PG-13 because as a whole I don’t believe it to be too bad, but I caution anyone who is uncomfortable with issues regarding death.

I cannot live without my soul! by Insecurity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The meadow was still. One lonely stranger sat underneath the shelter of a willow tree, gazing up at the bright stars. With a long index finger he traced pictures from the glistening dots. His mouth whispered words silently, words of pain and anguish, as he gazed up into the whirlpool of space. His dark eyes resembled the black hole of his soul, as he waited for the white-petal flower to redeem him.
