Crossing the Board by Seren

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: There have always been arguments over which piece of the board is the most powerful. Most will say the Queen; she can mimic any move, take any square. Others will say the King; despite his limited mobility, the entire point is to protect your king and capture your opponents. It is the center piece of the game. There are any number of arguments for five of the pieces. The last piece, or pieces, are often neglected. They are the front line, the first defence, and the first to fall. All but one. And Ron must see it to the other side.

Wow. I absolutely loved how you brought out Ron's determination through the repetition. All the comparisons beween chess and life and war were really well done, and I'm sure I'll discover new meaning in this fic evertime I re-read. I don't want to re-quote the entire paragraph for you, but I loved the one about Bravery etc. The way you ended was also really powerfull. Thanks for another lovely read!

The Daughter of Light by Magical Maeve

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: An Irish witch languishes in the darkness of her family home, confined by her father and circumstances. What will it take to bring her out of this exile? The chance to return to Hogwarts? The opportunity to participate in the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters? Or will it be Severus Snape, a man she did not expect to see again in her lifetime?

This is canon compliant to OoTP but written pre-HBP.

Reviews and constructive criticism are most welcome, and thanks go to Ashwinder who kindly beta read the chapters for me. :-)

*very aware that review will not be as in-depth as the others*, but I can never say much when I read something this well-done, I mean where does one begin. I will say though, not being a fan of detailed description in fanfics, that you really do it well. But then again I feel like I'm reading a novel again...*sighs, it's been too long*...anyways I'll just tell you my fav line:

"Although now she was beginning to feel the first flickering of new life she suddenly realised death at the hands of Voldemort wouldn’t be very convenient. In fact, it would be downright annoying."

Annoying indeed, I just had to copy that as soon as I read it so i could put it in the review...*goes off to next chappie*...=)

lol...I was wondering about the cardigan, but that thought never crossed my mind...another thing I loved was the part where Albus searches for his Shrerbert Lemons...there must be something in those...=)

Ahhh...loving it, I really just can't stop untill this is finished, but I thought I'd take a little break to let you know I absolutely love the way you portrayed Percy...=)

The Ever Secret Diary of Sirius Black by Amalynne

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Sirius Black is dead, but a memory of him still remains. Rummaging through Padfoot's old possessions, Remus finds a bit of the past in a diary. Sort of a Tom Riddle's diary experience with a 16yr old Sirius Black.

Great chapter, i'm liking this story alot so far and i especially love this paragraph: James is rather proud of the tallies Filch engraved on the back of his office door for our detentions. Remus reckons he needs a new door now, he's running out of room. We have files too! Judith Stebbins said I have my own drawer. That just gives me a warm, happy feeling inside. You know that feeling, the one where you love the world.....it's amazing, i will read the rest as soon as i can =)

Determination by Seren

Rated:
Summary: Back and forth. Back and forth. I rock myself as hard as I can, bashing my body against the sturdy oak doors of my prison. It hurts badly; every time I slam my body against the doors, splinters break off into my already bruised and scratched skin. But back and forth, back and forth, I will rock. Every time I smash into the doors, they weaken slightly. And every weak crack spiderwebbing against the doors is one step closer to freedom. Four girls are held hostage by Death Eater. But they have a plan.

Wow. Another great one-shot. I loved the way you portrayed them and how you ended each section with them saying their house and name etc... I also loved the last part where it just simply states what each one is carrying with her and how that will destroy the DE's. Very nice. Oh and, I would agree about there being no need for a sequel, the end really sums it up and a sequel doesn't seem necessary.

Chasing A Dream by Noldo

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: They looked back and had no regrets, because it was for Remus. A vignette.

And I cry! sorry, anyways it was good, does it continue or is this it? i think it could be good if you kept going! by the way who's the woman with grey eyes who wasn't around much? sorry if it's obvious.

And In Your Loving Memory by Seren

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Memories of those gone are slowly fading into the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Lives that were given for others are pushed aside and forgotten by the world at large. A few students decide that it's time to honour the fallen, so that no one may forget the sacrifices made by the ones who came before them.

Beautifully written. I really liked this one-shot not only because it's so realistic and has such a moving theme, but also because of some of the imagery you used.

oh- wait before I get into quotes I want to mention that I loved Luna's characterization. The whole story with Dean was amazing. It's like a little snippet of the side-story Jo had to cut. Really loved it.

Okay, so here a couple of the lines I absolutely loved:

but we can't exactly smash their faces in the truth. No matter how satisfying it might be to try."

and for some reason I overloolked this second one the first couple of reads, but I just realized how nicely it fits with Hogwarts' response at the end:

Luna turned and placed her hands upon the rough stones of Hogwarts. "We need your help."

and my favourite:

And we will break the silence

I almost wished it would end here, because that one line was just so conclusive and it fit perfectly...

In short it was an amazing one-shot, thanks for a great read...*goes to find more cool stuff to read in my newly found free time*...=)

Knowledge by Seren

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: When she dances, the world stops for a moment to let her breathe. She knows she's not alone. Not by a long shot. There's life everywhere. If only people know where to look for it, then things would be so much better. A Ravenclaw should know better, but she doesn't. A Luna fic.

Wow. *takes in deep breath*...I loved this and I'm wondering why I haven't read it before. You write luna wonderfully, and I love what you do with her name and how you characterised her mother. I was crying by the time I reached the flashback where she died. The imagery is very vivid and I loved the way the beginning and ending were written. Thank you for another lovely fic! *hugs*

Harry Potter and the Legacy of the Founders by VoldemortsPatronus

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The war is on and the only person with the power to stop Voldemort's second reign of terror is sulking alone in a cold, dark room. The unexpected arrival of an old school chum in Privet Drive jolts him to action, however, as Harry begins his most exciting year at Hogwarts. Year 6 will include a visit to the ancient village of Godric's Hollow; a first hand account of the 1000 year old quarrel that ripped Hogwarts apart; a Fred and George-style farewell to a certain ex-Minister of Magic; and the discovery of the Half-Blood Prince, a mysterious figure who holds the key to winning the war...

(And, as J.K. says, what's life without a little romance?)

Very Very Very interesting chapter. I would also like to think Draco was lying, but it would make an interesting story either way. that really is an interesting twist whether it's true or not! anyways please update ASAP. =)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the latest plot twist, currently working on chapter nine. The battle is going to take two chapters though.

me again, i've been waiting for the ninth chapter or sooo long, i hope the mods accept it soon, they took a while with the latest chapter of my story too. Also i wanted to say that this fiction is very very good and even though the way Annie gets into Hogwarts is a bit strange it is explained adequately. Keep up the good work!!!!!

Author's Response: They rejected it for Americanisms (apparently the english don't say "anyways", who knew?). Thank you for your review! I enjoy receiving it!

Grrrrr another cliffhanger, it wouldn't matter much if the story wasn't so good!!! Anyways update soon, can't wait to see the Annie-Dumbledore scene =)

Author's Response: Don't worry, the next chapter will not end in a cliffhanger...at least, I don't think...But the cliffhanger will NOT be leading to the annie/dumbly scene because the next chapter WILL contain the annie/dumbly scene if I type until my fingers bleed!

Amazing Story!!!! I just read all of it at once and i really felt like crying. i can't even imagine what it would be like to be in Ginny's place. i love the way you dealt with all the characters, especially Draco and o course Ginny. i will just stop now because otherwise i'll just keep repeating how amazing and sad it was a hundred times.....sob sob.....sob...sob...
