I am a twenty-something who fell in love with all things Harry Potter in high school and never grew out of it. The books are the best, but I love every single one of the films.

I prefer to stick to the canon-compliant fics, but occasionally I will wander into an AU. My favorites are Post-Hogwarts and Dark/Angsty. I never considered myself a shipper, but again, I go canon-compliant here. My favorite couple would definitely have to be Remus/Tonks, though. My favorite characters are, obviously, Lupin and Tonks because they're cool as hell, but I'm also a big fan of Dumbledore and his seemingly endless wisdom, Harry, Hermione, Ron (you've got to love the trio), Ginny, Sirius, and Severus Snape and his seemingly endless, witty cynicism. The Weasley twins are up there as well just because they're brilliant and they make me laugh.

Harry Potter and the Hero's Lament by L A Moody

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: With McGonagall firmly entrenched as Hogwarts’ new headmistress, Harry is enticed to return for his seventh year under unique conditions. Aided by Ron and Hermione, he embarks upon a Horcrux search-and-destroy mission using the school as the base of operations. Recognizing that saving the wizarding world from the ultimate evil is a rather daunting task for a seventeen-year old wizard, the Order of the Phoenix steps in to assist Harry on his journey. It soon becomes clear, however, that not everyone has the same lesson plan in mind for our hero. As the headmistress attempts to lay a clever trap to reveal hidden agendas, Voldemort waits in ambush at the one site that Harry is sure to visit.

But before Harry can face his nemesis, he must face down the inner demons that plague his own life and truly grow into adulthood. His activities are punctuated with school pranks, Quidditch, parties, and the requisite amount of rule-breaking that readers have come to expect from the trio.

Alexandra Quick and the Lands Below by Inverarity

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Seventh grader Alexandra Quick returns to Charmbridge Academy. This year she faces bullies from another wizarding school, a secret Dark Arts club, and the machinations of her father, but her greatest trial yet awaits her in the dangerous Lands Below.

This is the second book in the Alexandra Quick series.

Cruel Moon for the Misbegotten by L A Moody

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Remus Lupin is a man whose bête noir assumes very real proportions on the night of each full moon. It is a reality that he had accepted for most of his life; forced to reconcile to the limitations of his existence at an early age. Then out of the blue, Nymphadora Tonks waltzes into his life, throwing all his stoic principles into turmoil. But wizarding society’s prejudices against werewolves are so deeply ingrained that even specialized Healers have no choice but to admit that some of the most basic answers are just unavailable. As Remus undertakes a dangerous undercover mission that may help him to find answers among his own brothers, Tonks follows a convoluted trail that will uncover the true nature of hatred buried within the Ministry of Magic itself.

Follow this tale of despair and redemption as it weaves through the bustling boulevards of Rome to the carefree Bohemian sections of London to the austere bones of post-industrialized Britain to the majestic spires of Hogwarts castle. It is a story not presented as a romance, but rather as one man’s journey to hell and back as inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy.

Serves as a prequel to my other story, Harry Potter and the Hero’s Lament, but either story can be read independently of the other.

An Issue Of Trust by Sirenny

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: It is said that to be forewarned is to be forearmed. But sometimes, even with the knowledge of what is to come, the destination will always be the same - no matter the difference in the path travelled. Waking up one morning Harry finds his familiar surroundings eerily altered. Sent to a dark future shaped under the rule of Voldemort, in which all knowledge of his existence has been forgotten, Harry is forced to rely on one of the few people who remembers his name: Severus Snape. 6th Year AU. Nominated for best Dark/Angst story in the 2008 QSQ.

Summary:

A Hieroglyphic World by R_Ravenclaw

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Three Weasleys, three Malfoys. Three Gryffindors, three Slytherins. Three generations of pride, arrogance, and unwanted love.

The Timeless Trilogy, part 1

Times of war call for desperate measures. The Minister for Magic is forced to side with the participant in the American Revolution whom he would prefer to see lose.

Optimus Malfoy thinks the only way to gain respect is to work for the Ministry of Magic, and — in these troubled times — there are no guarantees of the answer, which most definitely should have been no.

Lydia Weasley faces her own share of problems, which all eventually come down to one question.

Happiness or society?

A very challenging question indeed.

The History of Those We Thought We Knew by StaceyLC

Rated: Professors •
Summary: As Harry begins his quest for the remaining horcruxes, his world is turned completely upsidedown by the return of Severus Snape, and Harry learns more than he ever thought possible about Snape, his parents, and the burning question of Dumbledore's death.

Alexandra Quick and the Thorn Circle by Inverarity

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Winner of the 2008 Quick Silver Quills Award for Best General Story.

The first book in the Alexandra Quick series.

The war against Voldemort never reached America, but all is not well there. When 11-year-old Alexandra Quick learns she is a witch, she is plunged into a world of prejudices, intrigue, and danger. Who wants Alexandra dead, and why?

This story is canon-compliant with the Harry Potter universe, but the characters and settings are all original. I've put a lot of work into envisioning a world as detailed as the original series; I hope you enjoy it.

A Little More Time by Pallas

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Was it possible to save two lives in the past without altering history? Was it possible to give his parents a future twenty years after they had supposedly died? Teddy Lupin thought so...

Missed by Sirenny

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Now it was gone. In truth it had been gone for a good ten or so years, but the loss still felt new. It was a waste, that was what it was. It was a waste to mourn something that had never really been his and had only been granted to him, however briefly, by something so evil. No matter how many times he told himself this though, no matter how much he reminded himself that no part of the Dark Lord could ever have been worth keeping, he couldn’t deny the truth. This he missed.

Imperius by Pallas

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: “Imperius… Werewolves…You-Know-Who…” The last words of a dying man force Remus Lupin into a dangerous investigation at the infamous Feral Institute. Sequel to Oblivious; pre-reading would be useful but it isn’t vital.

The Right Questions by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Severus has an apology to make to a first year student, in spite of misgivings and several personal rules of conduct.

This is rated for some shadowed implications of events past, none of which quite fit in the warnings.

In the Eyes of Others by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Severus has never seen the appeal of repetition, particularly of things that ended badly the first time. In his life, he has kept one pet, owned one broom, and had one close friend.

Winner of Mod Quicksilver Quill for Best Novel! Thanks, all!

Rating and warnings do not apply to all chapters; I just didn't want anyone hooked and then shocked.
"What is it?" His mother held out her hand, and he put the letter in it wordlessly. "Are you eleven already?"

His father lowered the newspaper to look at the calendar. "Yesterday. ‘Appy birthday." And that was the end of that.
