I have to admit, when the Harry Potter books first came out, I didn't want to read them. But thanks to my book obsessed mother who could nag the paint off the walls, I was invited into Harry's wonderful world and hope I can add a little of my own weirdness too.
I am a weirdo and proud of it (I have a tee shirt proclaiming so), but this was not something my teachers loved about me. When I was a kid, I was tested for everything from A.D.D. to Autism to Asphergers to Bipolar Disorder to half a dozen other things I can't bother myself to remember. But the creative spirit cannot be crushed with pills and now they just call me ecsentric.

Leaves by Simply Being
Rated: 3rd-5th Years •Summary: I would look out into the forest, full of huge lofty trees covered in leafy green foliage, pointing downward as if sensing the rain, and trying with all their might to get as far away as possible from it. It doesn’t really make sense, I used to muse to myself. Why would leaves hide from the rain? Maybe, I decided, because they were afraid; afraid that the thing they loved the most would somehow hurt them, and why bother even taking a chance? Therefore, I had concluded, they pointed downward as far as they could reach.
What if the death of Luna's mother wasn't an accident?

Oh, I always love a story about Luna, so this story's going to be a joy to review!
The death of Luna's mother has always been something of a mystery, and you did an amazing job of touching on it. She has to be there to actually witness her mother's death, so this all certainly seems like it could be possible.
I love the appeals the story made to the five senses, especially the smell of the damp earth. I always notice this smell whenever spring comes, but none of my friends ever seem to. It's a shame, but I don't have to tell you what a wonderful smell it is; so full and heavy, with knowing that spring is going to follow it.
I also love the interactions between Luna and her mother. We know from the books how close she felt to her, and her hopes of being able to see her once again and the picture of the two of them in her room. This was the absolute perfect interaction between a mother and her daughter, the way you know it's supposed to be, which makes it hurt all the more when her mother starts to drift away actually dies.
Luna's mother almost seems like she's more bipolor than depressed, with her moods going up and down between extremes. But adding mental illness into the equation really made for a view I have really never seen before.
My only critique is that Luna's father didn't really seem to have any of the...'whimsey' we know is in his character. I know this is a trying time for him, but we do see flashbacks of his character, and even when Luna was being held prisoner, we still saw it somewhat. It was just one thing in the story that seemed off to me. But I suppose you published this story before DH came out. No one could describe Xenophilius as 'serious'!
Anyway, this was really an enjoyable read, and now I'll have to go off in search of more of your stories.

I have always loved reading stories about Lockhart and how always manages to screw with the lives of everyone around him. Also, I think putting it into poem format. Something about it just would have the same feel if it were in a oneshot format.
Overall, it was very entertaining, certainly worthy of the RQSQ for Best Poem.

Ever since I first started reading this story, it has become on of my absolute favorites. The one thing I cannot stand is reading a story where Snape is completely out of character. This might be because writing Snape in character is a skill that always seems to allude me. No matter how many times he appears in my stories, I always need an outside source to tell me if my version of Snape is believable. But Chante' always pulls it off with aplomb.
Shiloh is a high selling point as well. You read the story and think to yourself 'Oh, Snape has a Mini-Me!'. And she is, but Shiloh also has here own personality that sets her apart from her father.
Altogether, this story is wonderfully addictive. And once you read it, you will find yourself begging for more.

This has been one of my favorite for ages. Ever since the chapter in DH when Dumbledore suspected that students were Sorted to early (although this could also be taken as a bit of an insult). Reading this story also makes me think about how the rest of their lives would have played out because of this little change. I doubt the Death Eaters would have anything to do with Snape now.

When you meet different teachers, you usually tell fairly quickly which ones will feel extremely uncomfortable if you bring up anything sex-related. Snape is one of these teachers. And as rigid and collected as he would try to be, you know it would just be so very hilarious! And coppercurls does an excellent job of depicting this.
I have no idea how she even came up with this story, but I'm very, very glad she did.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked it. The story actually sprung from a conversation some time ago about the nitty gritty parts of wizarding life, and how some subjects should not be taboo since they are an intrinsic part of life.

I loved the first story so much, and I was so happy to see that there was a second story written about Shi-Shi. It might stop just before the OMG moment, but it is still a great story to read none the less. And I have read it again, and again, and again. I have also drawn pictures for it, made videos for it, and even beta read it. It is plain to see that I am obsessed with Shiloh Sanders and once you read this story, you will be to.

Here I go! I remember doing the video for this story, so I am very excited to leave a review for it!
Right from the beginning we see that wonderful descriptive language that Chante' is so famous for. You have a really talent for taking words that seem as though they would never make sense and never belong together, but you are able to turn it into pure poetry and describe the scene such perfect detail that I can't even put into words myself.
Someone certainly loves to see Snape suffer, for as much as you claim to love him as a character, but you do do it so well. You are certainly the site's go-to girl for angst, and while I have no idea how you do it, you can make it all go on and on, yet still have your readers constantly begging for more. And even though I am desperate to finally have the OMG moment in your Shiloh story, I would be lying if I didn't say I was loving every moment of it.
You also did a beautiful job of characterizing Lily, then again, you always do. You always know how to make her the perfect, etheurial character that Snape really see her as (this is my Catholic school side talking, but almost as though she is on par with the Blessed Virgin), and you really feel the hurt when Snape loses her. It always feels so much more substantial of a loss than just losing some friends, and you really know how to make it show.
This story was certainly an excellent use of color motifes. It also made for an amazing chance to experiment with video, and I think that might even be my favorite reason for liking this story, that I had the chance to make the video for it. It really was an honor to be able to make a video for the person who taught me everything I know.
Amazing story, and now that you have the writing bug again, I hope to see a lot more from you!

This story has been one of my favorites since it was first published. It made me truely appriciate the Snape/Lily pairing, and accomplished the difficult task of making Snape seem...human, which in and of itself is certainly worthy of recognition. The fact that it is a beautifully written story that anyone who reads it will love it is just gravy.
It is a great story if you are looking to get some of the warm-fuzzies!

Wow! This chapter is so original! With the flying train and the kids flying down to the rainforest was wonderful. I can just imagine it. This is one of the more creative 'other school' stories on the site.
But, oh, the man who was so nice to Marissa was caught by the Dementors! Marissa will be so sad. I don't know what she will do now! Poor, poor, girl, hasn't she had enough tragity in her life?
But I love this story. And don't think I don't know that comment in my last review was a crack at my writer's ADD!

And you really should drop the ADD label and picture yourself as a Renaissance woman who has so many talents (writing, drawing, videos, who knows what else) that they simply cannot be contained.
