I am extremely shy until I get to know someone well, and then I can talk your ears off! I love to read and write, fictional romance is my specialty. I am a canon shipper almost 100%... My favorite characters/ship, are Tonks & Remus. I have quite a bit in common with them, minus the magic bits of course!

That's all for now!

A New Definition of Family by RahNee

Rated:
Summary: A new person comes into Harry's life; one who has ties to his parents, and to his enemies. The story starts in the summer after 3rd year and becomes AU (but just barely) at that point. Pairings: SBOC, a smattering of HPHG, some RLNT later on...

Hungry for GOOD fan fiction? Give this story a try! It will satisfy the avid fan fiction reader's most voracious appetite. It is chock full of the basic fan fiction food groups: It's got drama, romance, angst, snarky banter, mystery, Quidditch, humor, new love, old love rekindled, introspection, action...
So go on, sample a little bit... I KNOW you won't walk away feeling empty!

Not a cliffie~aholic, eh? You are a master of the cliff~hanger, my dear!

It's such fun watching Tonks fight her attraction to Remus! Her jealousy of Hestia and the subsequent destruction of the Domestic Godess' "Welcome" sign is a stitch. The tantrum was a great touch. And Tonks love~hate relationship with slag duty - she loves the money but hates the role she must play - is kind of fun, too.

I especially enjoyed Tonks improvisational method of keeping their cover intact! Tonks may think she's got this "Remus thing" under control, but their snog told me different!

Three cheers to Remus for pursuing Tonks and admitting his interest in her! Once again, I love the way Remus uses his keen sense of smell where Tonks is concerned. And I'm sure once she admits her mutual attraction, she will find it sexy, too!

As always, I gravel at your feet!

Your humble and devoted fan,
Lark

Author's Response:

Me Timon, you Pumba? Luau! :D

What if is a fun game to play when writing. What if Tonks wasn't a starry-eyed innocent, what if Remus didn't push her away for her own good when they first met? What if Harry misconstrued their relationship the way he misconstrued her feelings for Sirius? What if they got together in an unexpected way?

Thank you for answering 'what if I write a story?' with "I'll read it!"

:)

Parents... I love Andromeda and Ted Tonks as Tonks' parents, they are awesome. Unconditional love is something I didn't feel from my Mom until I was 19 and nearly died. That's propabaly way more information than you wanted to know about your knew devoted reviewer and fan.

I am deeply sorry if I have gone too far. Feel free top tell me to stay away and I will from now on.

My problem is that your writing has touched me in so places inside, that are only scabbed over. And now they are open, hurting, and bleeding again. That's not your fault and it will be okay, because I have friends who understand and help me make it through the pain.

Because you also write the love and forgiveness. The sweet unconditional neverending love parents have for their child, and most especially, a mother for her baby.

Something that I had taken for granted that I would one day experience myself. But it wasn't meant to be. I have had life long "female problems" taken many treatments that only made me physically and hormornolly worse. Culminating in the partial hystrectomy I must have May 12. I also have a Mental Illness that may prevent me from adopting.

I'm really sorry about all this. If I haven't completely freaked you out... And I don't know how I couldn't have... would you send me a message to let me know? Then I'll come back and share my safe thoughts and feelings on Chapter 3 with you. Okay?

Or if I have totally freaked you out, just let me know. I won't bother you any more. And I am truly, deeply sorry for causing you upset. I hope you have loved ones to help you through this quickly.

I'm so glad you have supportive, understanding friends! Life hasn't dealt you a fair hand, but you seem to be playing the 'cards' you've been handed as best you can when many would have folded! I'm not freaked out by mental illness or harsh realities in life, so anything you want to share will be an honor to read.

Take care, and I'll pray you find peace in the present and joy in the future! (Love, I think you're blessed with in many ways. :)

Before I begin my compliments, I must first offer my deepest apologies. I have been reading your stories for over six months now and I have not sent you any comments on my thoughts. As a writer myself, I know that hearing from your readers can be helpful to both your muse and your ego, when working on the next bit of your story. I am sorry to have neglected my part as a devoted reader to share my thoughts and feelings after reading each chapter.

And so, without further ado, I will begin to catch up...

Oh... I should tell you I'm pretty much a Canon Shipper... and er... mostly Tonks & Remus at that... So I've only read every one of the Tonks & Remus stories, outakes, and poems, and the Cami & Sirius ones, too.

What to say?

This was a completely original and believeable way for them to meet. You have a marvelous insight into the characters and do an amazing job of remaining true to them. You bring all of your characters to life easily and vividly, with distinct personalities of their own. I already like Morty and despise Evan!

Tonks isn't the only girl who would have mooned {and swooned} over Remus if she'd had him as her Professor! How could she not look back?!?!

More next chapter!

Aw, I want to print your review and put it in a scrapbook! (Preferably one someone else has made, using all that decorative Creative Memories stuff that I'd never do, because I rather be writing than making things pretty. :D)

Thank you so much for coming back to review!

If she hadn't looked back, it would have been a crappy one shot, deserving of flames, lol, and if you ever decide to delve into different dimensions of the Potterverse where any pairing is possible if written right, I'm very prolific. :D

Metamorphic girl in spiffy blue spandex! Or Tonks, Nymphadora Tonks, secret agent. Cool! What, no secret handshakes, oaths of blood, or anything else dramatic and exciting in an Underground Group? I love Tonks wicked imagination, sense of humor, and her spontenaity and courage. I have a rather vivid and somewhat wicked imagination and a weird sense of humor. But I'm also very careful and not at all courageous. That's what imaginations are for!

I once spent afternoons watching soaps with my Mom's Mother before I started school. She would make cinnamon toast and ice cream floats for me and let me wear her cozy sweaters while we watched. Those are happy memories I treasure.

I was wondering {waiting on pins and needles actually} how you would bring them back together... Fabulous! Is it creepy that I didn't find it "creepy" the way Remus was trying to recogniize Tonks? I found it rather sexy!

More next chapter!
Lark

Author's Response:

What a lovely grandmother you have! I'm grateful to her for helping shape your imagination and sense of humor so you'd find a kindred spirit in Tonks!

If you didn't find Remus' animal side sexy, I'd be sad, because Tonks does, and their emotional bond has a strong physical component to it!

Thanks for the lovely compliment of using my name in this chapter! I'm touched and honored. It really made my day, as life has been a bit difficult lately.

As I agree with the werewolves regarding the lack of justice done them in the books, I do not hold it against them that Christmas was delayed for one more chapter. I do, however, hope this will be the last delay... Pretty please?

You did a marvelous job of doing the werewolves justice. A chance for Remus to teach again was a wonderful idea. The reminder of the plight of the young, uneducated, "forgotten" werewolves was another great touch. The books had me feeling sometimes, that Remus was the only "good" and "decent" werewolf in the world. The rest were dark creatures in need of a miracle to save them from joining Voldemort.

I love that Tonks and Remus prefer to save the majority of their conversations for when they are together. Long distance chats, just can't compare to the intimacy of baring your heart in the arms of the one you love. I just hope they will have that opportunity soon!

Looking forward to the next chapter,
Lark

Author's Response:

I'm so sorry to hear that life's been difficult. I hope you're feeling better. Larks songs should cascade down, not be down!

No more waiting, I promise. I felt very Seus-ish writing it, thinking I hadn't stopped Christmas from coming. It came! Somehow or other it came all the same. :D

I refuse to believe Remus is the only good werewolf, the way I always refused to believe all Slytherin...even all Death Eaters...were irredeemable. Where's there's life, there's hope.

Remus and Tonks talk, but delicate issues are better off discussed face to face...not that I'm promising they'll be discussed soon, lol.

Baring their hearts, though, yes, soon! :)

Uh~oh! Okay, so I was fairly certain Jerry was in love with Tonks... But did he really have to be?! And how much trouble is this going to cause? I mean, is this a case of serious puppy love, or are we talking real true love?! We are, aren't we?! Honest, true, deep, unrequited love! I repeat, how much trouble is this going to cause Tonks and Remus?!?! Uh~oh?!?!

Jerry didn't really hold Tonks all night while she slept, did he?! He didn't bathe her, did he?!?! I think I'm gonna be sick!! Jerry's a Wizard Scout, for goodness sake! He wouldn't take advantage of Tonks being ill like that! He would find someone to help care for her! Wouldn't he?!?!?! I can't stand to think about any of this anymore! The horrible images you've created in my mind... I'm really gonna be sick!! I wish I had a Remus to snog me senseless!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You actually use Outlines when you write? Do you use flashcards with notes on them and write several rough drafts out longhand, too? I'm just curious. Although I should be honest and admit that the only time I ever used any of those things... was when I had to turn them in to a teacher or a professor, as
part of an assignment or for an individual mark.

Well, I guess I have written a few rough drafts, here and there, but thats all. The rest of the stuff teachers tried to get me to do just bogged me down and got in the way of my writing. I hate it and never bother with any of it. When they did insist I had to do it for a mark, I just made the stuff up after I finished writing the paper. The only problem was, I could never get my Outlines to fit my papers. My teachers and professors could never understand that.

And just so you know... I AM on the edge of my seat wondering wondering what will happen next!

All my best,
Lark

Author's Response:

He didn't take advantage, physically, but he's a guy, so he did enjoy the view. :D Unrequited love is bloody painful, for all concerned...all I'm sayin'...

~*~

I'm addicted to backspace and cut and paste options to edit as I go, so no longhand for me unless I'm stuck somewhere without internet. *shudders at the thought* :D I'm not that organized about outlines. :D When I get around to original writing, I'll try to do a step outline and running outline, but never Roman numeral stuff, heh, and for fan fiction, I just draw this big half circle, divide it into sections like an orange, and write in what I want to have happen each chapter. Doesn't mean I'll actually write it that way, but it's nice to have. Some writers go back and outline after the rough draft. If you're an instinctive writer, that might work for you!

Okay, I'll admit I feel sorry for poor Jerry! I'm sorry he has to have his heart broken, but I'm also very glad everything is finally out in the open between him and Tonks. I hope he'll be okay in time.

Speaking of Tonks, I feel even worse for her and what she must be going through. Pain, grief, guilt, anger, frustration, loss-are only a few of the emotions I imagine she is feeling right now. I know Jerry means a lot to her and this turn of events has to be a powerful blow.

I know in the book, Tonks and Remus spend Christmas apart. I hope you find a way for them to spend at least part of it together and even a little bit happy. Tonks really needs him right now.

Looking forward to brighter days,
Lark

Author's Response:

Yay! The real world has stopped hassling you enough to give you time to read! *throws post-its in lieu of confetti*

They spend Christmas apart, but did you know the full moon was on Christmas Eve that year? I don't think Jo did. :D The next chapter is...I can't describe it...you'll have to read it--soon, I hope!

Dawlish is such an a#&, always mucking up things for Tonks. And if only Tonks knew that she's feeding Jerry's love for her! I like Jerry, but I could really grow to dislike him or even feel indifferent toward him if he mucks things up between Tonks & Remus! :(

And what about Will moving to Iverness? Is this another bad sign? I don't expect you to answer. I know I'll find out in the coming chapters. I just get impatient while waiting and trying to guess what your plans are! So, I think out loud, as it were. :)

I enjoyed the bit of girl talk you were able to work in with Tonks and Ginny. I always wanted an older sister to share things with. A sister like Tonks would have been a dream come true and then some! :)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As always, my favorite part of the chapter was when Tonks & Remus were finally alone. The comments about her being discreet and even "behaving" in order to keep him safe, were both funny and touching. And the entire final paragraph was just... mmmm... perfection!

I "gravel" at your feet as always, your humble, but devoted fan,

Lark

Author's Response:

Dawlish is an A#*, and I'm glad Neville's grandmother kicks his, lol.

Tonks is so in love with Remus she's blind to hints about Jerry's feelings. She won't be for much longer, but even then, she'll try to ignore it, until even that isn't an option.

The alone times almost make up for all the separation...almost, sigh.

Hakuna matata!

Tonks little day dream at the beginning was lovely indeed! I'm a sucker for the popular:

"Lovely view," Remus said behind her.

She threw a cheeky glance over her shoulder. "Are you referring to the
'_____' or my bum?" *

Still lying prone across cream-coloured sheets, Remus smiled wolfishly.
"What '______'?" *

*Fill in the blanks.

I don't care which of them is admiring the other's form, this exhange always makes me giggle and long for a Remus of my own!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The rest of this chapter left feeling cold with a knot in the pit of my stomach and dread creeping up and down my spine. Jerry wouldn't do anything to ruin his reputation as an over~grown Wizard Scout, would he?! Because Tonks is most assuredly halucinating at the end when she thinks Remus is there caring for her. I MIGHT be able to forgive the kiss, but nothing more! Oh no, no, no!! This is very, very bad!

I "gravel" at your feet as always, your humble and devoted fan,

Lark

Author's Response:

Every woman deserves to have a man love her as deeply as Remus loves Tonks, so I hope you'll find yours...and your life together won't be be filled with angst and separation to offset the bliss!

Well done! I enjoyed it very much!

I completely forgot about Bogarts when I began reading that part and was wondering what you were up to... nicely done.

I loved that the story had Tonks handling the mission all on her own. Too often the stories I read make it seem as if Tonks needs a partner to accomplish anything she does. On the other hand, I do understand that in a time of war, everything is even more dangerous and it's even more vital that it's done correctly... So, having a partner does not neccessarily mean that you are incapable of doing your job well on your own under normal circumstances. Whatever those may be.

And of course I love the sweet ending!

Poor Andromeda! I can empathize and sympathize with her. Growing up, I was told over and over that I had no right to my feelings, no matter what they were. I had to keep them all bottled up inside for years and pretend to be a normal, happy person. The years of pent up emotions lead to a nervous breakdown... but that's a whole other story.

You have done a wonderful job describing how Andromeda's family held her back, keeping her under their control, almost preventing her from becoming the woman she was meant to be.

I'm enjoying your story so far. Well done!

As I read this chapter, I was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with Charity's infatuation with Remus. I was worried she might become a problem for Tonks, vying for Remus' affections. I was greatly relieved when she became frightened by Remus' lycanthropy.

At the same time, I was sad for Remus. Once again he thought he had found a friend, and perhaps something more, only to be disappointed and hurt by fear and rejection. Also, I really loved that Remus didn't feel right about becoming intimate with Charity, though he doesn't yet realize his true feelings for Tonks.

I loved the end! I was very sad for Tonks' with her broken heart and disillusionment, of course. I've been there myself. I loved that she came to Remus for the truth and he dropped what he was doing to comfort her. And his words, "You have me,"... made me melt!

With enthusiastic applause, a loyal and devoted fan,
