Through Different Eyes by hogwartsbookworm

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Formerly titled 'From Wading to Redemption.'

Ron leaves. Ron returns. Ron saves me from Malfoy Manor. Ron and I descend together into the Chamber of Secrets. And, finally, Ron Weasley comes to understand S.P.E.W.

You've heard Harry's side of those stories -- but don't you want to hear my side?

Hermione's Point of View. Based on events in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

EDIT: This story, which was written almost a year ago, is undergoing a sort of Spring Cleaning. In other words, I am revising and resubmitting the chapters to take care of the things that now make me cringe. Rereads and new Reviews are welcome!

That was very very good! Very well written and rhythmic in pattern - love how Hermoine went through the same thought that Ron had left Harry, had left them, but ultimately Ron had left Hermione. And that he took her heart with him when he left. Brilliant! Excellent work - Debbie

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I was thinking about how I would feel in her place, and with me, definatly, it would be more important that he was leaving me, however selfish that may sound. The heart thing I was really excited about because I didn't even know about the Warlock's Hairy Heart until a few weeks ago when I looked up the Tale's of Beedle the Bard on Harry Potter Wiki. It intruiged me and I couldn't help seeing the similarities. I'm glad you liked it too!

I could feel Hermione's anger catching in my throat - like I was trying to yell at Ron too! Really illuminated how Hermione felt when Ron returned. Excellent work!

Author's Response: Haha, awesome. That is exactly what I was going for. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Keep reading!

What's Your Favorite Color? by GinnyPotterFan26

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: In the many interviews since the fall of Riddle, Harry has been asked one question more than any other. This time, his answer is a little...different.

Date: 04/28/10 Title: Chapter 1: What's Your Favorite Color?

awwwww - this is too sweet! I knew his favorite color would be red - but you did an awesome job telling us why!

Author's Response: Thanks! I figured red was an obvious response, but I thought there was a hole that could be filled there (which I chose to do with a lot of feel-good fluff).

The Note He Left by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:

A note was discovered in the aftermath of Harry's capture at Malfoy Manor. It's sweet, it's romantic, it's...complete fluffy rubbish.

What will happen to this heartfelt missive? Will it find its intended recipient, or will it be lost in the wreckage of Voldemort's former occupation?

This was very good. I love your writing - and you did a great job on Harry, Ginny and Draco. Harry and Ginny are my favorite couple - you did a great job with them in this story. So sweet.

Author's Response:

Aw, thank you. I've never really written a happy version of Harry/Ginny before, as my style is usally more dark, but it is nice to stray from the angst here and there. This plot bunny has been circulating in my brain for a while, and I'm glad you liked it.

Take care and happy reading!

Hermione's in Trouble! by OliveOil_Med

My answer to an early plot hole that has always bugged me in this story.

Cute! I liked it. I always wondered too how Hermione got away with magic outside of school.

Author's Response: I know! But I suppose now I have to write a story for every plot hole in the series!

Acorns by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Bill Weasley is overjoyed when Fleur tells him she's pregnant. As the eldest of a large family, he can't wait to be a dad. But as the baby grows, a small seed of fear grows too. Bill is scared and he's not sure who to turn to.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. That shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

Thank you to Hannah (coolh5000) for beta'ing this fic and to Natalie (hestiajones) for letting me play with Bill for a while.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for Round Two (Minor Characters) of Madam Pomfrey's Character Clinic Triathlon.

To Make Things Right, To See It All by the opaleye

Summary:
There is a memory; a lake and a picnic blanket and a bottle of wine. There is a boat drifting off into the distance.

This is a companion piece to The Colour of Distance.

I strongly advise you to read that first.

Date: 05/01/10 Title: Chapter 1: And the embers never fade in your city by the lake.

I must say, I don't usually read things where H/G and R/H have feelings for others, where it isn't the picture perfect Epilogue. But this is so intense, so well written, so hold your breath this can't happen that I had to read it. Disturbing but so good.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! It's good to know that someone who prefers canon pairings was able to read this and take time to review :)

The End of Fear by MagEd

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: 2010 QSQ Awards Winner for Best Alternate Universe

Sometimes, late at night, when she lies safely in her dormitory bed, she allows herself to think not of Dean, or her friends, or her brothers, or her schoolwork, or the war that's slowly destroying the wizarding world. Instead she thinks of Harry and if things could have been different.

In five different worlds that could have been but weren't, there are five different ways Harry and Ginny could be Harry and Ginny. Circumstances change, but they always find each other in the end. *one-shot*

I love your work. This story is wonderful. That no matter the circumstance, the bond Harry and Ginny share is irresitible. And though Harry's character is different in each story, underneath it is still Harry. And you wrote Ginny spot on. I love stories from Ginny's point of view and this was one of the best ever. Debbie

Author's Response: Thank you so much! That's high praise :) I'm glad you thought Harry was, deep down, in character throughout and that you liked Ginny's character, too. I really wanted them both to be in-character.

The Happy Couple by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Romilda Vane is a young reporter for The Daily Prophet. Currently writing a popular column for the Social pages, she is outraged when the highlight of the social calender - the wedding of Harry James Potter to Ginevra Molly Weasley - is given to Lavender Brown to write.

Lavender isn't happy either, for their boss (He-Who-Pays-Our-Wages) has threatened to assign her to the Cookery section unless she dishes the dirt on her friends. She readily agrees to Romilda taking on the assignment for what could the Saviour of the Wizarding World possibly have to hide?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my entry for The Weddings Challenge in The Great Hall. I chose prompt 3 - The Daily Prophet Report.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, but I think you all know that.

Thank you very much to Samarie (Hopeful_Song) for beta'ing this story for me, and giving me some excellent advice.

The Sexual Sitiuations are really very mild, and merely implied.

Date: 05/23/10 Title: Chapter 1: The Happy Couple?

I liked this story - even though I was prepared not to - didn't want to read Ginny and Harry not have a happy ending. But, I think your happy ending was beautiful. Obviously whatever happened was not enough to undermine Harry and Ginny's relationship. And I liked Lavendar and Blaise together and that Lavendar remained loyal to Harry and Ginny - that she was a true Gryfinndor. So many stories, poor Lavender doesn't get a happy ending. Very well written, lovely story.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review. I agree about Lavender. She never gets a fair deal from fanfiction (although she does in another of my fics) I don't think she'd pine after Ron for the rest of her life. Thank you for realising that Ginny was truly happy to be getting married. The Dean 'thing' , I left it deliberately ambiguous, didn't derail them. Glad you enjoyed the story. ~Carole~

OMG - that was perfect - you so perfectly wrote Remus. It was all so poignant and bittersweet - as Remus' life was. What insight you have into all the characters. And of course I cried. I have at all the stories in this series. I love too that you included Lily and Ginny. Off to buy some peach butter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so relieved that you think I wrote Remus well. And bittersweet is definitely a good word to describe his life. Enjoy that peach butter :)

Until Death (Eaters) Do Us Part by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Draco Malfoy stood in front of the mirror and studied his reflection closely. Flicking some invisible dust off his shoulder, Draco was satisfied. He knew he looked the part; it was just that the guests didn’t know which part he was playing.

Draco Malfoy is about to get married. The wedding has been planned for months, a union between the class of the Malfoys and the new money of his bride. His parents are delighted.

But Draco, possibly for the first time in his life, is about to defy them.

Good start! You have written how I would think Ginny would feel really well - and I like the tenseness between Ron and Ginny. Can't wait to read more.

Very nice. Really conveyed their emotions.

Author's Response:

Thank you for letting me know what you think, and I'm glad you liked it. I just wanted to show how James and Lily started off so different, but eventually became of one mind due to the danger to Harry. I'm glad the effect worked. :D

Take care and happy reading!

Taking Direction by WeasleyMom

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: What if the characters in the Harry Potter films were portrayed—not by actors—but by the book versions of themselves, as created by Rowling? How might things unfold on that set? What would the characters think of the changes made from the stories they’d already lived out… to the ones written for the script?

This fic is a series of one-shots, posted as chapters, each from the perspective of a different character who is dealing with the changes occurring between the book and the script.

Holy Movie Canon, Batman! This fic won the 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award for Best Chaptered Humor Story. Thanks so, so much!

This is great! Funny, well written. I have made my peace with the movies and how far off mark some of them are by viewing them as fan fiction. Like fan fiction, some are really great (Socerer's Stone), some are not (OOTP). So, I love seeing what the characters think of the movies! Can't wait to read more. And you have to do Harry & Ginny's very vanilla kiss in HBP. After the passion they put into that kiss in the book, I can just imagine what they thought of the onscreen kiss. You captured Remus very well - Dora too. More please!!

Author's Response: Ooh... the H/G kiss! I had not thought of that, but it's a great idea. I'm going to have to start a list... HBP is ripe with inspiration. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review.

Love it, love it, love it!! That scene inthe movie was one of the most AU of all the stuff that should not have been in the movie - I know that is how the real characters would have reacted to that scene. still laughing, more please!!! Debbie

Author's Response: I honestly never watch that scene because it is just so WRONG. Hehe. Glad you are enjoying the ride! Thanks for the review.

I love this!!! I am laughing out loud at work, getting funny looks, but I love this!! Can't wait for more. You are an excellent writer - and I love you standing up for our beloved characters. Sometimes the movies are soooo bad. Harry and Hermione dancing in the tent after Ron ran? What were they thinking?? Debbie

Author's Response: The DH is causing me problems because I so badly want to move on to that (even have one scene almost written), but I have two more HBP chapters first. Ah, the tent dance... what to do? I will have to write it, but I see no humor there. Poor Ron. Thanks so much for reviewing. I'm thrilled you liked it!

Tales of the Battle by Northumbrian

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:
Over fifty people died at the Battle of Hogwarts. There are dozens of stories of loss, betrayal, heroism and sacrifice. These are some of those stories.

As always, your characteriziations are perfect. I think I especially like the depth of all the relationships. And it is so great to see everyone else during the Final Battle. And you did a really great job with Nev!

Debbie

Author's Response:
Debbie, thanks for the review

This chapter brings together several characters and takes us to the end of the Battle (at last). All that remains now is the aftermath.

Excellent! I know revenge is wrong - but - this was excellent - loved that Buckbeak killed McNair. And loved, as always, your characterization. I really felt like I was listening to Buckbeak. Debbie

Author's Response: Thank you. I had a lot of fun with the language in this one, particularly coming up with names. I hope that Sharp-Metal-Man got his comeuppance in the best Grimm tradition. -N-

Reviewer: decdraft Signed
Date: 09/01/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Well done - well written! Excellent characterization. I think you captured Remus and Tonks, really liked pulling in motivations from their childhood which shaped them as adults.

Shrouds by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Not all Voldemort’s victims were on the side of right.

Over a year has passed since the Battle of Hogwarts. Families grieve, but their dead are remembered with honour.

For Draco Malfoy it has been a year of nothing. Merely existing, he is bound tightly to his past as if enveloped in a shroud, unwilling to accept help. It takes a chance encounter on a cobbled street to jerk him into the realisation that he cannot go on like this. A chance encounter with the one person who has most cause to hate him.

But shrouds, however tightly bound, unravel.

A huge thank you to Natalie (hestiajones) who put her laminated canon card in jeopardy by beta'ing this fic and being very supportive all the way through.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. Her lawyers agree, so please don't mistake us. I just like taking the odd liberty (ahem) with her characters (and pairings)

Nominated for two QSQ's in Best Non-Canon Romance and also Best Post Hogwarts story for 2011. Thank you.

I almost didn't read this when I saw it was Dramione - until I saw you wrote it. Love your other stories, so I gave it a shot. Glad I did - great story! Loved Draco as a tortured soul. And Ron is such a prat! Good job, can't wait to read the rest!

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad you gave it a chance. I'm not a huge Dramione fan myself but wanted to see if I could write it. Once I had the idea, it wouldn't let go. ~Carole~
