Daughter of the Dark Side by Lyra Lestrange

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Lindsey Tonks appears to be a normal, almost invisible Hogwarts student, but underneath her is someone far from normal. What the world doesn't know is that Lindsey is the daughter of two well-known imprisoned Death Eaters, and has an identity she must hide from the world. Underneath Lindsey is a girl named Lyra Lestrange, a girl who is meant to be a secret forever. But will it last forever?

*Begins in GoF and follows the series through DH.

**Will appeal to fans of the Black family! Prominent characters are Bellatrix, Tonks, Andromeda, Sirius, and (to an extent) Narcissa.

Part Four Synopsis:

It's the summer after Albus Dumbledore's death, and the whole world is falling to Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Broken-hearted Lyra, unable to return to Hogwarts, must go into hiding with her family. It doesn't last long, and eventually Lyra is faced with a choice: join or die. Lyra's decision comes with many surprises, including a new ally who follows her to the final battle of good versus evil. While Lyra's path may seem clear, she finds herself torn between two sides for the final time, and in the end, despite tragedy and loss, Lyra accomplishes the impossible...which defies all of the agreements she and her family ever made.

Three years later, the fic has been completely finished! Enjoy reading it without having to wait for new chapters. Thanks to those who patiently waited and faithfully reviewed!

This fic WON a 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award: Best Post-Hogwarts Story

Ahhh. So sad. Teddy had to die.

Author's Response:

I know. :/ The thing is, while I was writing Vindication of James Potter, I determined right away that Teddy was going to die, but it took me almost a year to work up the courage to actually do it. I still feel bad about it, and a certain friend of mine can't bear to bring up the story because it makes her so sad.

Anyway, thanks for dropping in!

What Lies Behind by C_A_Campbell

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Winner of the 2011 QSQ Award for Best Dark/Angsty One-shot! It is true what they say about your life flashing before your eyes just before you die. As Theodore Nott, Death Eater like his father before him, stands on the battlefield in what is surely Hogwarts and his final hours, he remembers all that lays behind him: his father, the Dark Lord, the one girl he ever loved, and the thing he has forced himself to forget.

But you remember, don't you, Theodore?

Please tell me you remember me.

Hi Chante. It is so amazed that you made my tears flow (no, really; I cried) for a character who was not fleshed out in the books, a character that we know so little about...
Your story moved me. Great job! The best second-viewpoint story I have read on Mugglenet.

Juggling by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Lily Evans wasn’t the only Gryffindor with a childhood friend. Whilst she was meeting the boy who would introduce her to the magical world, someone else was learning how to mix with Muggles.

This is not, however, a story about Lily Evans. This is a tale about James Potter and the Muggle girl that he never quite forgot.

This story is for Natalie (hestiajones) who makes me laugh more than most people and has been a very supportive friend, despite our separate continents. Happy Birthday, mate!

I’m indebted to Gina (Gmariam) who kindly offered to beta this short one-shot, and then didn’t complain when it mushroomed into a chaptered fic.

Because of an archive gliitch, this fic has been temporarily put down a rating. the content remains the same and it is still a 6th-7th. You have been warned.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. If I had been, then Sirius, Remus, James, Lily and Tonks would not have died. Peter, however would have died in an icky manner

OMMPP! Juggling won 2 QSQ's for Best Chaptered Marauder and Dita won Best Original Character. Seriously pleased and shocked here. Thank you.

The chapter titles are all from Keane songs.

Hi Carole,
I have been reading a lot of your works lately
and they were mind-blowing (drowning, not waving is my favourite). This, on the other hand, is INSPIRING. As a writer myself I do not know how you have changed my thoughts about the Marauders (Especially JAMES!). I now have so much respect for James-centric fan-fiction, and I cannot thank you enough. You have also introduced me to portraying feelings in dialogue. I had struggled with that prior to reading this masterpiece. Keep up the fantastic work!
- Shae

Author's Response: Thank you very much for the lovely review. I am a Marauder fan and write quite a bit of it (or used to). In this story I wanted to show that it wasn;t just Lily that had an effect on James. I wanted him to be more than just a Marauder who Lily changed a bit - if that makes sense - so I'm glad you enjoyed this story.

OOOH, Drowning Not waving. I'm currently writing the sequel - it's going to be chaptered the way it's going atm, and mainly from Cedric's POV, so I hope you get around to reading that. I hope the first chapter will be up in December.

Thank you very much, again, for this lovely review. Quite made my morning. ~Carole~

Summary: There were blind spots in his mind. They said he might recover the lost memories; they also said there was a high possibility he might not. Along came a girl, and everything changed.
