Teach My Feet to Fly by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Andromeda Black is not a girl who is reckless. Risks are for the foolhardy, and she is too clever for that. But she hasn't factored Ted Tonks' persistence into the equation of her life.

And Ted wants to teach her how to fly ...

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for Round 2 of the Character Clinic Triathlon - Minor Characters. I chose the Music prompt.

The song that Andromeda listens to in this story is River by Joni Mitchell. It is beautiful.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. I am not Joni Mitchell. I am someone who admires both artists greatly.

Ta lotsly to the lovely Natalie (hestiajones) who beta'd this and is a truly fabulous friend.

Thank you for writing this-I've always felt Andromeda was a vastly underutilized character in canon. Please write more. And Regulus too.

Author's Response: OOOh ... Regulus, now you've got me thinking... Hmmm. Thank you very much for the review and glad you enjoyed this. ~Carole~

Nott: Father and Son by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:
Theodore Nott, the other Slytherin. Who is this mysterious person who remains in the background. Who are his friends? Whose side is he on? Does anyone know? Does he know?

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw writing for Round Two (Minor Characters) of the 2012 Madam Pomfrey’s One-Shot Character Triathlon.

Date: 07/29/12 Title: Chapter 1: Nott: Father and Son

Useful? Decorative? If I was Araminta I would return from the dead and strangle this man. And I hate how the snatcher gets off the hook.
As for Pansy- well, you get back what you give, i suppose.
A well-written story and of course it accords perfectly with the 'Northumbrian canon"!
The Notts- what do I say? Hated the father from the beginning, and whatever sympathy I had for the son was lost before the end, but very very realistic depictions. And these people hold the key to Arthur's treasure? Oh no!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Casual sexism, always guaranteed to annoy. :-D However, Thornton Nott is not exactly forward-thinking or progressive. You aren’t supposed to like the Notts, but stories need villains, and Theodore will be making several appearances very soon.
The Round Table Knights (and most people reading this won’t know why we’re talking about them) were an unpleasant bunch. The tales are of betrayal, incest, rape, extra-marital affairs and sibling rivalry. I see no reason to make their descendants nice people.

Yggdrasil by Northumbrian

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:
Luna attends the International Symposium on Fantastic Beasts in Sweden. She is looking for proof of the existence of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. What she finds is something else entirely.

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw writing for Round Two (Travel Prompt) of the 2012 Madam Pomfrey’s One-Shot Character Triathlon.

Reviewer: Ruchira_M Signed
Date: 07/30/12 Title: Chapter 1: Yggdrasil

You know, JKR said that Luna eventually gave up on the snorkacks. But never mind that, this story is so cute!
"‘I didn’t this morning,’ she said. ‘Now, I’m not so sure. At the moment I’m waiting for someone to ask me out.’

‘Will you go out with me?’ he asked hastily.

Unable to resist any longer, Luna leaned across the table and kissed him."
Luna is so Luna. And you have to write in more of Rolf in your other sotries (some of which, btw, are in serious needs of updates.)
Stockholm is a beautiful city- I hope you enjoy your trip to Sweden.

Author's Response:
Thanks for the review.

I know what JKR said, the key word here is eventually. Perhaps it's rolf who persuades her. Stockholm certainly looks beautiful, but the closest capital city to me will be Copenhagen. I think that you can see it across the Öresund.

Zygosis by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:
Zygosis: the biological process of conjugation; the union of cells or gametes.

Life exists to procreate, to recreating itself, being created by many different methods. Because of that urge to create new life, Auror Albus Potter finds himself in trouble.

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw writing for Round Two (Minor Characters: Harry Potter’s birthday) of the 2012 Madam Pomfrey’s One-Shot Character Triathlon.

By Merlin I love your Lavender. Poor, poor Albus!
Hang on, what do you mean, when Harry killed his "first" basilisk?

Author's Response: Thanks.
Lavender is really ideal mother-in-law material, isn't she? :-D
Well spotted. That's a story for another day.

Stolen Magic by coolh5000

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Samuel Radley is a wizard born without magic. Coming from a family with generations of witches and wizards, his brother Adrian has never really understood why Samuel has been left without, especially when there are others, with no magical blood at all, who somehow find themselves able to do magic. As he enters his fourth year at Hogwarts, it seems that the Ministry are finally starting to do something about this imbalance and Adrian couldn't be happier. All around him however, there is resistance to the new laws, and suddenly Adrian finds himself an outsider in his class and abandoned by his friends, when all he's ever done is love his family.

This is coolh5000 of Slytherin writing in the Great Hall chaptered challenge, for the Phoenix Rising prompt. I am pleased to say this story won in its section!

I am also really thrilled to say that Adrian Radley won the Chaptered QSQ for Best Original Character 2013! The story was also nominated in the Best General category.

This is a really difficult story to write, trying to see things from the other end of the spectrum. Well done. Do update soon.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review and I'm glad you're enjoying it :) It's been an interesting experience getting inside the head of a character whose opinions differ from what we're used to. ~Hannah

Hey,I love this, please continue. The twins are great, Mason and Parker are so funny, and I'm so happy you introduced Luna. May be a little bit of Lupin?

For Him by Gmariam

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: As an older, wiser Remus Lupin returns to school on the Hogwarts Express, he meets a memory from his past: his best friend's son. And he realizes that he now has a second chance to protect Harry from whatever harm the recently escaped Sirius Black may intend.

To the End by rachelnotrach

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: It's the end of seventh year and James Potter has a lot on his mind about friendship, love and how to escape the Girls Dormitory.
Reviewer: Ruchira_M Signed
Date: 09/01/12 Title: Chapter 1: To the End

“And you see, I picture it going something like this,” James said. “I propose, she says yes. We shag, because we are so overcome by love; it will be great. We move in together, stay engaged until the war is over, then get married and have thee great kids. You’ll be their Godfather, Remus will be Godmother--” Remus rolled his eyes, “--and Pete will be Uncle Peter. And everyone will be happy and joyous, and Remus will give the kids books and you’ll give them Muggle stuff and Peter will give them Dungbombs. That’s how I see it going.”

This hurts. Wonderfully written.

Author's Response: thank you so much for the review! i'm glad you liked it.

Diffraction by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Diffraction - the phenomenon where light encounters an obstacle.

It is September the first, and a sixth-year boy takes photographs of excited children on platform nine-and-three-quarters. Everyone looks happy, but Aaron Harper's heart is leaden. He can deal with the girl he fancies going out with the obnoxious Hugo Weasley, but coping at Hogwarts with no support from his father could be one obstacle too many.

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff and this is my story for the Character Clinic OC challenge: Prompt 1.

Disclaimer: I'm not JKR: Hogwarts isn't mine, neither is Hugo Weasley, but Aaron Harper and Genister Avery are.

Poor guy, I really feel bad for him. Bit of an irony, Ron Weasley's son teasing someone over short robes.

Author's Response: Yes, I played on the irony because Ron's kids wouldn;t want for much, I don;t think. Thank you for reviewing :D ~Carole

Killers by Northumbrian

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:
Tom and Camelia are two people in search of something unobtainable, and each is prepared to kill to achieve their goal. For both, murder is simply the means to an end. For both, their victims are unimportant; they are merely collateral damage in the quest to live forever. What happens when two very different killers meet?

This is Northumbrian of Ravenclaw House writing for Round Three of the 2012 Character Triathlon.

Reviewer: Ruchira_M Signed
Date: 08/28/12 Title: Chapter 1: Killers

Wow- this was pretty intense! Umm, I know Voldemort wouldn't need a reason, but did he have a particular motive in destroying Camellia?

Author's Response: Ruchira Thank you. A reason? He'd told her, or at least hinted that, he was looking for a way to live forever. Was that enough reason? -N-

James and Me by Northumbrian

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:
Annabel is having a bad day. Her sudden and unexpected meeting with a face from her past is unlikely to improve matters.

Footprints in the Sand by Equinox Chick

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: It was a summer like any other for Danny. He worked at his parents' Bed and Breakfast during the day and partied hard on the beach at night. He played the game, and played it well. But then he met Oliver Wood, and his life was irrevocably changed.

This is Equinox Chick and this is my entry for the OC challenge in the Character Clinic. This is the Shipping Prompt. (and has nothing to do with ships - hee hee.)

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. Sadly Oliver Wood belongs to her, but Danny is mine.

My protagonist, Danny, was briefly mentioned in my story Drowning, not Waving. This is his story and has been written nearly a year after Jess (ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor) asked me to write it.

This story won the 2013 QSQ for Best SSP and Danny won the 2013 QSQ for Best Original Character. I thank the judges, very much.
