As Happily Ever After As They're Gonna Get by cjbaggins

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: My take on the first of those 'nineteen years' between the 36th chapter of DH and the epilogue.

Warnings: contains an unusually-shaped ring, a nosy neighbour, a rude shop assistant, shaving mishaps, thoughtful gestures, threatening goblins, and, unexplained appearances of Romantic!Ron and Romantic!Harry. You have been warned.

Rating is for *mild* innuendo and *mostly* innocent interactions but I wouldn't let my 9 year old read it.

Muggles, Magic and Misconceptions by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Relishing a moment's peace at the end of the day, Andromeda Tonks sits and talks to her family. They may only be photographs, but still she chats and shares her life with them. But how can they help when Teddy runs home in an uncharacteristic rage after playing with Muggle friends in the park?

This is Equinox Chick of Hufflepuff writing for the Halloween Challenge, Halloween Explained prompt in the Great Hall Challenge.

Thank you to Emma (Amortentia x) for beta'ing this story.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling, but I doubt that surprises you.

Claimer: I am, like Ted Tonks, a fan of Tottenham Hotspur.

I saw the werewolf thing coming the moment Teddy said 'Halloween.' Awww :( my heart breaks for him. They story was really good, though. You're a great writer! And also, I was wondering, how old is Teddy when this takes place? I was just a little confused about that.

Author's Response: I didn't specify an age, but it's pre-Hogwarts. I think I imagined somewhere around the 9/10 year old mark because he's a boy getting annoyed with the younger children. Thank you very much for the review. ~Carole~

I like this story alot it's cool to imagine the whole alternate universe thing. And I love that Tash's mom's name is Cassie because that's my name too. :)

Author's Response: Hi Cassie! I'm glad you like this story. :D Thanks for the review!

With a war looming in the background and evil slowly seeping into the wizarding world, seven years of secrets unravel, and two very different people find themselves caught up in a battle against privilege, intolerance, and greed.

Really insteresting so far. I have no idea what is going on, but I suppose that's the whole point. :) Well, I can assure you that I will keep reading.

Author's Response: Thanks! The beginning is supposed to be mysterious... since this is a mystery. :)

Black With a Hint of Red by Ginny Weasley Potter

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Love is a very bizarre form of emotion. People can die for it. People can kill for it…

Rose Weasley is in her fifth year at Hogwarts. Love is in the air, but so is exam fever; and Hogwarts is heavy with a weird combination of nervous cheesiness. But isn’t this the story every year? It’s normal. It’s right.

And then everything goes wrong.

A student— Rose’s classmate dies tragically and unexpectedly one day. The death sends shock waves through Rose and her friends, staggering them to a great extent. Furthermore, investigations conducted by Rose’s Uncle Harry reveal a startling piece of information, placing everybody in even more shock. The death is, in fact homicide— and homicide committed by a student. Soon enough, Relationships are strained, faiths are broken and hatred is intensified. That is when Rose realises that she is not prepared to face any of it; and all she craves is for things to be the way they were before the tragedy…

This is a story about how love can make people cross the limits they never knew... a story of how love combined with obsession, deceit and jealousy can be as destructive of hatred.

This is Ginny Weasley Potter of Hufflepuff writing for the 2011 Mysterious May Challenge in the Great Hall, Prompt #2— The Trained Professional. I have moved this story into the next-gen category, because I feel it fits in better there.

Raindrops by Gmariam

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary:

He returned with a quiet sadness and a surprising new responsibility to keep him focused. She returned with a misplaced bitterness and the matching position that forced them to work with one another. Yet fear, resentment, and stubborn arrogance kept pushing them apart, even when they were meant to be together.

I've read several of your James/Lily fics (my favorite paring) and I love them all. I am excited to read this one as well, but I was wondering which story (if there is one) contains the Mauauders' sixth year and the fight in Hogsmeade that is mentioned. Thanks :)

Author's Response: A rather belated thank you and reply to your question! I have not written any story about the bit in Hogsmeade during sixth year. It seemed better as a flashback in this one and has never really come back into play. Maybe someday. ;) Thank you so much for the lovely compliment - I hope you enjoyed the story! Thanks again! ~Gina :)

Polar Nights by episkey_

Sirius Black. 1981.

Date: 02/17/13 Title: Chapter 1: Polar Nights

Wow. This is so haunting, and so real. It really captures the torment he's going through, the insanity. It's kind of jumbled and a bit confusing, but I think this only strengthens it by showing how he is sort of slipping away from himself, unsure of what to do. Poor, poor Sirius . . . what an awful thing to go through. And the end . . . "That day Sirius stops counting" . . . God, it made me want to cry.

You are such an amazing writer! The emotions were portrayed so beautifully it made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I personally love Rose and Scorpius (J.K. Rowling totally hinted at it in her epilouge) and this was such a beautiful interpretation of the couple.

Their Affliction by Alice Mac

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Love - that's what Albus thinks sets us apart. The ability to love and the power that it gives you.

I disagree: I think it's hate. Hate is pure, fierce and unyielding. It courses through you like fire and invests you with its strength. Hate guards you from other people - it protects you. If all you feel is hate, you have nothing to lose. You are untouchable.

Love drains you. It forces you to care about others and their welfare and if they are harmed...well, then it brings grief, anguish and pain that rivals any curse. Love reels you in with its sweetness, comfort and passion and then destroys you with its absence. It is crueller than any curse. It is the Gryffindor affliction.

I thought this was completely accurate to how Voldemort. All his thoughts on love and hate were so true to his character and it seemed so effortless. I got the chills when he murdered James and Lily. This has made me hate Voldemort even more. You are an amazing writer!

Terrence Potter and the Resurrection Stone by indy_chic18

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Terry Potter has always felt like an outcast in the eyes of his family, his cousin Emma Weasley being the exception. When it finally comes time for the pair to enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, an object from Terry's famous father's past threatens to dramatically change their young lives forever.

At the beginning I was confused about Emma and Terry because I knew they weren't mentioned in the Epolouge, but I think I understand now. :) Also, who's the Terrence he's named after and why does almost everyone refuse to call him by it?

Author's Response: He's named after Terry Boot, and you will find out what happened to him and why his name is frowned upon in a later chapter. Happy to answer your question!

World Enough by Willow Rosenberg

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: The Marauders have left school behind them just as war has fallen across the Wizarding World at last--quiet and invisible, but war nonetheless. And on the front lines is this small group of young Hogwarts graduates who have moved from pranking battles to something far more serious.

In this third and final installment to the James and Lily story begun in “Trickster” and “Stars Apart,” the Marauders join their friends in the Order as a part of what feels more and more like a fight they have no chance of winning. In the middle of it all, love grows and friendships break, trust forms and wavers, and warriors who are barely more than children must learn not only how to fight but what they are fighting for.

Let me just say that this whole series is my favorite James/Lily story. So many that I've read seemed too rushed or unrealistic. But yours makes sense, and is written wonderfully. You have a real grasp on each character and this is expressed through the dialouge as well as narration. I can't wait for the next update! I do however, have just one question regarding Dorcas Medows's age. I think that she's a member of the "older' Order group, but I'm not completely sure. If you could just clear that up, it would be great! Happy writing!

Author's Response: thanks!! the next chapter was put in queue a couple of days ago, so it should be up soon :) dorcas is one of those characters in the hp books who was mentioned super briefly and never really elaborated on, so there's some freedom with her...for the purposes of this story, though, she's kind of in between. she wasn't in school with any of the marauder-era guys, so she's about ten years older than they are, but she's not as old as dumbledore/mcgonnagal/moody etc

Black Swan Song by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Harry Potter's life began in strife -- alone and unloved in a closet. But the fire inside him never burnt out, and it guided his path through trial and tribulation in the years to come. First an orphan, then a hero, and finally a saviour.

I really like this poem. It takes you through basically his whole life in just three stanzas, yet I didn't feel like anything was missing. Paring it down to three simple adjectives really gave a strong sense of the feeling. The beginning of each stanza is really clever as well :)

Author's Response:

I'm glad you liked it. Poetry isn't my strongest suit, so when I manage to try a theme and it works, it feels really nice to know that what I meant to portray is what was perceived. :)

Thanks for the visit!
