Secrets, Lies and Guinness Pies by adjectived noun

Rated:
Summary: Lupin handles Harry's grieving in the most insightful and mature way he can: by taking him out and getting him utterly plastered. However, as one rather astute young auror notes, drinking and pretending nothing is wrong is NOT dealing with your problems, and Remus Lupin must confront his grieving.

I had this whole clever, witty review planned out and then my computer kicked me offline, rendering me helpless until this morning when I could finally get back on and tell you how brilliant this is. Seriously brilliant. You are a very talented writer, judging by this piece, and I think you should feel very happy about the way it turned out. It was the perfect blend of male egotism, grief, angst, and witty humor. I was so entertained by the image of Harry, Lupin, and Dung (of all people) getting pissed and of Lupin resorting to alcoholism to deal with his pain. The insight on his first love was heart-breaking, as was the quote he used to explain why he wasn't upset about Sirius' death. Even though it didn't turn out like this in Book 6 -- Harry was not nearly as upset as I thought he would be, nor was Lupin, and Dung turned out to be true to his name after all, I still think this is a brilliant piece of work. You could change out the names and it would still be an effetive emotional piece; perhaps even more so because we wouldn't have the presupposition of the characters' canon personalities to guide us. Thank you so much for sharing this on this website and I'm so sorry I didn't see it sooner, when you first published it -- but I'm glad I found it, it feels and looks like a diamond in the rough. Oh, and props on the part where you had Lupin melt the Avril Lavigne CD. Priceless. Way to go!

That was a fantastic story. You really conveyed Lily and James' love for Harry and his family in a realistic way. I was a little sceptical at first, but the twists and turns you inserted really added interest and kept me reading. I loved it! Harry and Ginny were a playful couple, you made them into realistic parents, and I like the way you mirrored James and Lily in Lily and Jordan. Thanks for a fantastic read!

Author's Response: *blush* Thank you. What lovely things to say. I'm just happy you enjoyed the story and that you think my characterisation was realistic.

Power of the Prophecy by the_bartender713

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Year six begins in the_bartender's crazy concoction that is the life of Harry Potter. Add one part Harry, two parts prophecy, a mixture of Ron and Hermione, a dash of Ginny, a splash of Dumbledore (and garnish with a certain new knightly character to add a little mystery!)...

Pour over the ice in Lord Voldemort's heart and voila!

You've got yourself a Power of the Prophecy Cocktail, sure to mess you up, spin you around, make you question your motives and turn your wizarding world up-side down.

Just read your stories. They're good! Please update soon, I can't wait to see what happens. You've got a neat characterization going on with Harry and Dumbledore, Harry and Draco, Harry and Snape. I liked your explanation of the Unforgivable Curses earlier. Like I said, UPDATE SOON!!!! Thanks...

Author's Response: Thanks a million! I never really thought about my character relationships, but I'm glad you noticed! I'll be sure to pay more attention to keep them to your standards! More unforgivables to come.... hehehe

For a Reason by SophieWeasley

Rated: Professors •
Summary: In the summer of her sixth year, Lily does something she thinks she will regret for the rest of her life. After losing her parents to a Muggle car accident, loneliness and desperation drive her to see James Potter. Will their encounter remain a stain on her conscience, or will she find out that year that everything happens for a reason?

I'm in love with this story. You've got a great complexity going on here. Maybe James and Sirius should find Lily and comfort her? Take her to see her sister? Have her stay at Potter mansion, with no ulterior motives other than to help her deal with her parents' death. Then break down the barriers between Lily and James by making her hate Sirius even more than she hates James. I don't know, you just said you were going with the flow... But yeah I really like the story, the direction, it's well-written and complex. Good job.

Courage by RagingStorm71117

That was definitely very touching. Wow is all I can say! How sad... I definitely need chocolate now.

Git in Shining Armor by juniorauthor

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Ronald Weasley struggles with his teaspoon's worth of emotions during Hermione's stay at the Burrow summer after fifth year. With the Twins succumbing the household to spontaneous product trials, and a new Minister of Magic, one would think that Hermione's Bulgarian pen pal would be the least of Ron's problems.

And that would be what one would get for thinking.

Surprises abound (the Good and the Bad) assure the Weasleys and their house guest this will be a summer all but one of them will never forget.

Final chapter is in queue. Wow, that took forever, didn't it?

I just found your story today and read all of it. It's... amazing. You've got a great knack for writing action, something that I have tried and failed at. All the characters are in character, which makes it even easier to read. I like the twists and turns you've been adding. When is the next chapter due? I'll be looking forward to it!

Author's Response: Thanks so much :). I've greatly enjoyed reading your fiction as well! Writing action is probably the most difficult and cumbersome thing I've ever done, which is why these chapters are taking longer and longer to write. The good news is that the next chapter is in the queue and due out any day now, so keep your eyes pealed!

This story has me floored. It's so intense, you have a beautiful, visual flow and I really enjoy the alternate p.o.v. Also, the specific type of magic you invented was incredible. Thanks so much for this great piece of work and I'm sorry for your loss. Not to sound selfish, but please update soon, this is amazing. Thank you.

Author's Response: Wow, amazing, haven't heard that in a while. I didn't intend to add another p.o.v originally, but I needed to keep Harry out of the way with some things to keep the story flowing. I'm glad I did decide to, because I think it works pretty well. Not to sound big-headed or anything.

Author's Response: Oh, I'm really sorry for the delay! *Cringes*, sorry sorry sorry! But I'm working on another fic for my best friend at the moment, (not on this site) but as she's going away at the weekend, I should be able to finish the next chapter then! Apologies, but blame my friend for the delay! Hopefully the weekend will see another post...hopefully...

This was a great chapter. Thanks so much for updating so soon! I think it fits really well with the rest, don't worry. Yay for Dumbledore being back. Does this mean there's hope that Harry will survive the night? Again, I love this story!!!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it, woodwoman. Yay indeed. I didn't intend to bring him back originally, but I'm really glad I did. It was a lot of fun to write his character, especially for the next chapter. Oh, I can't say yet. Maybe, maybe not, who knows what Harry's capable of? ;) Thank you, and I'm touched!!

I've never cried before while reading a fanfic, but this chapter sent a tear or two streaming down my face. You wrote beautifully about a horrible situation. I can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: Oh, thanks, that's really touching. I've updated, but it might not be accepted yet. We'll just have to wait and see...

"Mum, Dad, It's Me... Harry." by Mudblood428

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Harry, Ron, and Hermione make a trip to Godric's Hollow to visit the Potters' graves. There, Harry speaks to his parents for the first time, and in so doing, discovers that the dead are never truly lost. (One-shot. Bring your kleenex.)
Reviewer: woodwoman Signed

Wow... that was amazing. So touching. I almost didn't read it... no offense but it sounded so sad and almost lame. I mean, I would feel lame doing that. But you described Harry's emotions and thoughts in a very realistic, canon-rific way. I am so touched by this story! You're a great writer! Definitely 10/10.
