Bast: Operation Kitty by Subversa

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Some animals are more familiar than others -- this is the story of how Severus Snape acquired his familiar. This story is a one-shot prequel to Master of Enchantment and will make more sense if you read MoE first.

This was a very cute story. I'm not really big on the Snape/Hermione ship, but I enjoyed this just the same. Well done.

The Day Emmeline Vance Died by LariLee

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Emmeline Vance was murdered. But the most important question was never asked -- why? There's more to this story that was told in the pages of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

This was really great. I never thought of Severus having a relationship with Emmeline. That was really enjoyable to read. Good job!

Splinters in My Heart by lunafish

Rated: Professors •
Summary: Once upon a time Narcissa and Severus were in love. Sadly, some things just aren't meant to be. Posted prior to DH.

Very cool. I read the first chapter of this around Christmas time, before I had an account here, and I really enjoyed it. I was totally psyched when I saw this in the recently updated section.

Your second chapter was great too. I love stories that make Snape and the Blacks look more human. I refuse to believe that they are all evil, horrible people.

Anyway, good job! Keep it up!

Author's Response: Thank you for the kind words! I also like stories that try to look beyond the Slytherin/Gryfindor stereotypes, so I\'m glad you think I succeeded with this one!

He Who Laughed Last by Noldo

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Regulus Black, on Voldemort, life, death, and his beloved, insufferable, arrogant brother. One-shot, mild HBP spoilers.

This was great! I particularly liked the line "Sirius, Top this." I always thought that maybe Regulus was a little bit jealous of his older brother. Very good story.

Forever Night Time by kool kat

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The war is over. But sometimes victory comes at a terrible price. *QUOTE* It was forever night time in Hermione’s world... Her world, beautiful and dazzling, once filled with happiness, something uniquely her own. It was now strangely blank, like the empty pages of a book, longing to be filled with stories, and adventures, only to be left eternally untouched. Hermione’s world was only filled with darkness. *Quote* PLEASE REVEIW! IM THE ONLY ONE THATS REVEIWED SO FAR. YOU REVEIW FOR ME, I REVEIW FOR YOU, AND AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL!

This was nice. The ending was really well done. Good Job!

Author's Response: Thanks. =) I\'m a big fan of symbolism, as easily seen.

Monkey Business by Sigune

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Some animals are just not meant to be pets. A tale of friendship, choices and many, many familiars.
Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 07/02/06 Title: Chapter 1: -

Snape a monkey! That was great! I love monkeys and I love Snape, although I never expected them to be the same. Good Job!

Author's Response: Thank you! I\'m glad you liked it :). -S

Breaking free by LadyAlesha

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Andromeda Black is in her third year at Hogwarts and the thought of breaking free from her family is the only thing that keeps her going.
Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 10/27/06 Title: Chapter 1: Breaking free

I loved it! Your opening line was great. It really sounded like Bella. I can't imagine her taking that well. Hehe.

I was a little surprised that you had Andromeda hating her family, but I guess it makes sense. Just a different way of looking at her.

Anyway, I thought this was really well done. Good Job! :D

Author's Response: Thanks. Andromeda hating her family was my way of explaining her marrying a Muggle and leaving the family; it just popped into my mind and wouldn\'t go away. *giggles* I\'m glad you liked Bella\'s opening line, that\'s my favourite part of the story.

A Flash of Scarlet by Vindictus Viridian

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: This is a retelling of Harry's second Quidditch game from a very different point of view.
The manoeuvre that had sent this broom a few feet to the left would have put his old one into a wild loop -- in gaining manageability, Cleansweep had lost all the pepper. That loop would have made him hard to hit and given him a good view of the whole field. Knowing he couldn't do it now made him feel horribly vulnerable out here, and he doubted again whether he shouldn't have stayed in the stands -- or, better yet, indoors.

Poor Sevy. He always seems to be in a situation he doesn't want to be in. I'm not a big Quiditch fan, but I am a huge Severus fan. I enjoyed this, and it fits in lovely with In The Eyes Of Others. Good Job!

Author's Response: \"... A huge Severus fan.\" I never would have guessed. :) Sometimes I suspect a happy Severus, at least for more than minutes at a time, is probably an OOC Severus. Someone always comes along to mess things up, sooner or later -- often, in the series, Dumbledore. Perhaps an utterly solitary Severus is happy. Thanks for reviewing my little microscopic story!

A Death Eater's Christmas by the nutty imp

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: 12 Days of Christmas - HP Style - Focuses on Barty Crouch Jr.

(Although I don’t really think that this is that disturbing… I think I still ought to post a warning.)
Warning: This is not a happy and humourous Christmas-sy tale. It gives us a brief look at the disturbing deranged mind of Barty Crouch Jr.

Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 07/23/06 Title: Chapter 1: Winter Snows Challenge # 4

Awww...poor Mrs. Crouch. I wonder what happened to Barty to make him the way he is. This was really well done, by the way. I liked that you used the 12 Days of Christmas song twice.

Author's Response: Wonder on the same thing ... guess some people are just twisted regardless of their upbringing :)

Belonging to Bellatrix by Fantasium

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: “Behind every great man stands a great woman.” But what happens when the roles change? What is life like to a man who must live in the shadow of his wife? A wife who is neither great nor good, but wicked and cruel, and who only exists to serve her master… One-shot, written pre-HBP.

This was a very interesting take on Rodolpus. I really enjoyed reading it. I love Death Eater stories, and it seems that everyone has their own unique way of writing them, the joy of fan fiction. Anyway, very well done!

Andantino by Noldo

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: On Andromeda and decisions and loves and regrets. Poetry, peculiar.

No fixed rhyme scheme or meter; jumps to and fro between styles rather erratically.
Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 07/03/06 Title: Chapter 1: Andantino

Poor Andromeda. It must have been so hard for her, to be disowned by her family. I always thought she would be more hurt by it than Sirius was. I think you did a wonderful job capturing her feelings. Well done!

Wow! This was truly amazing. I absolutly loved it. The way you potrayed Susan's relationship with her aunt was brilliant. Her feelings of love and self loathing mixed together wonderfully in this piece. I have never read anything like it. Truly wonderful. I just don't know what else to say.

Your Destiny Lies Before You by SomberBallad

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Narcissa doubts whether she will ever amount to anything in a life when everything is dictated for her, her classes, her friends, and even her husband.

(A Narcissa character story and a Lucius/Narcissa beginning.)
Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 07/15/06 Title: Chapter 1: Your Destiny Lies Before You

Very nice. A wonderful take on how Lucius and Narcissa came to be. Also a very good view on the life led by a Black. I loved it!

Author's Response: Thank you for the nice reivew, I apprciate it so much!

The Art of the Quill by Pussycat123

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: *One shot* It is Lily and James's fifth year, and they have to endure many extremely dull classes. To pass the time, they swap notes. This is a collection of most of those notes ... and the madness that inevitably ensues.
Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 07/21/06 Title: Chapter 1: The Art of the Quill

This was great! I laughed all the way through. It was great when they were all scared of Lily. Anyway, I'd really like to see what Sirius is going to do with the raccoons. Very well done!

Author's Response: Ah, that is for your imagination to decide ...I\'m glad you liked it!

Choices by GwendolynJames

Rated:
Summary: I sacrificed everything to be what they wanted me to be, just so I could have a small piece of their empty admiration.

Date: 06/25/06 Title: Chapter 1: Choices

Awww...this was really well done. Everytime I read this pairing I like it more. Good Job!

Failure Is Punished by Hermione_Rocks

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: “Severus, Draco,” a cold, high-pitched voice said. “Welcome, welcome…come in, no need to dawdle…”

This was my entry to the Mugglenet 'write the opening to book 7' competion.

I did mean like wicked. As in really good. Just so you know.

This was sweet! I think you did a really great job capturing what Draco would be like in front of the Dark Lord. Well done.

Author's Response: I\'m hoping that when you say \'sweet\', you mean like wicked, because it wasn\'t exactly a sugary sweet story...:) Thank you!

Barty's Story by Cruciatus Love

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Barty Crouch Jr. is willing to give up everything for his master. He would go to any great length do to His bidding.

Follow Barty as he takes his steps through the Quidditch World Cup in GoF. What parts of the story did you miss while reading from Harry's point of view? This is the side of the story that you really care about.

Reviewer: Sly Severus Signed
Date: 08/17/06 Title: Chapter 1: The Quidditch World Cup

This was really entertaining. I think you did a really good job of capturing the personality of both Barty and Winky.

I really enjoyed the part where Barty got so upset because Harry dared to talk to his house-elf. That was very amusing.

And I absolutly loved this line: Winky might have been a lowly house-elf, but she knew that screams were never good when a escaped convict was on the loose. Hehe. Made me laugh.

I did notice a couple of typos. Spacebar mistakes actually:

No, no, no. I says to Dobby, I says, go find yourself a nice family a ndsettle down, Dobby.

and

Her young master could be anywhere by now, andshe had to keep track of him.

Otherwise, this was brilliant. I loved it!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review...and typos. I seem to be missing a lot of those lately.
