Hello!
I'm Neža, I'm 16 (getting old!) and I'm from Slovenia, so English isn't my first language. I used to hate fanfiction, because I was a canon-only fan, but that's obviously changed. Started with reading Marauder fanfiction, and whoever writes that, thanks, for you've introduced me to the wonderful wonderful world of fanfiction.

I'm a Hufflepuff at the forums and it's the best House ever!

My favourites:
Book: HP-HBP
film: Lord of the Rings (Return of the King)
colour: purple and blue, orange is also fun
TV show: Smallville, The Big Bang Theory, House, Criminal Minds... and I also looove cartoons.

Oh my Godric, this was amazing! I'm speechless. It's such a sad, sad story. I felt drawn into it from the very beginning. Your style is great and your characterisation is even better. I'm in awe. The ending was perfect and it really sums up Voldemort's view on love.

He Leaves His Legacy On Marble Floors by whomovedmyquil

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: A bruised cheek, a lost dog, and a little brother who's changed. Sirius stares at a streetlight just beyond his bedroom window and considers all the reasons he has for running away from Number Twelve.

I think this is an excellent portrayal of young Sirius and the way things just are in the Black household. And the present tense works perfectly for this story. I'm really glad I took a moment to read it because it's very good and touching. My favourite part would be:

He’s not used to dependency. He’s used to unpredictable tempers and house elves that creep up in the shadows unexpectedly and wheeze insults under their breath, and little brothers who change and grow when you aren’t looking.

All in all, a great read!

Killing is So Easy Now by pike007

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Voldemort's thoughts when he attempts to kill little Harry.

Date: 07/08/08 Title: Chapter 1: Killing is So Easy Now

You really make it seem so effortlessly simple. Good job. The poem has a nice rhyme and a spooky sort of rhythm.

On a grammatical note, you should watch your apostrophes (can't, don't, she's...)

Overall, brilliant poem. Good luck in the future!

Author's Response: thanks. i'll bear that in mind for future

Late Night Memories by mudbloodproud

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Remus and Sirius have always had a special bond, a shared secret. When Remus needs someone to talk to about Tonks, he turns to his oldest friend. The very friend he shared years of late night talks with.

I wish to thank my beta, Alyssa (harry4lif).

I do not own anything you recognise in this story. It all belongs to J.K. Rowling. I am just thankful to be able to play in her world for a little while.

Hey!

I really enjoyed this little story. It shows a bond they have and explores their past too. The part with Sirius coming to visit Remus was actually quite touching.

Life is too short, Moony.

And of course, the power of.. a sort of irony, I suppose, always gets to me.

Nit-picking here - I don’t know where we lost him, where we failed him, but it is the only think I can think of. - I think in should be 'the only thinG I can think of.'

So, another great story!
All the best,
~Nez

Katie Byrrde: Book One by Hermiones_Therapist

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The year is 2023. Katie Byrrde is just a normal eleven year old girl with an insane cat, a secretive best friend, and an obsession with pudding...okay, so maybe she's not that normal. But when a mysterious dude shows up at her door, things are about to get a lot stranger. Because...Katie? She's a witch. Suddenly she's heading off to a weird boarding school in the middle of Iowa, where she'll encounter new friends, old friends, pudding, bias, and more than her fair share of insanity. But there's a sinister side to this new life: a bunch of people are planning to kill her and those like her...and nothing will ever be the same.

Hey! This is a nice beginning to a story with potential.
So far, I liked Rachel's character better. Her worries are well-presented and very real.
Katie, I think, got upset too quickly - or maybe she's just extremely hot.headed :) I think she also spent a lot of time pondering over the phone thing; I don't think many people would to that.
Anyhow, it's a cool beginning! I'm looking forward to more chapters soon :-)

Author's Response: Wow! I have potential! Who knew? Thanks. I'm gonna have a lot of fun getting deeper into Rachael's character as the story progresses. Yes, Katie did get angry rather quickly, because even though she is usually a very fun person to be around, she's a little bit of a pessimist, and gets angry or upset rather quickly. And I don't think she spent that much time worrying about the phone, but if she did it's because a lot of weird stuff has been happening to her lately, and most people don't answer phones in their sleep. That I know of. :-) I"m glad you like it, and do expect Chapter 2 up soon. it would have been up sooner, but it's been rejected twice because i obviously didn't read the rules carefully enough. Hopefully third time's the charm! H_T

Wow, this is really good. You showed a very human side to everyone, and still they embody their House's characteristics very well. I think the best one was the one about Narcissa. I'm surprised but very glad you chose Wormtail for Gryffindor. All in all, great, great job. Keep it up!

The Sleeping Beauty Ward by MorganRay

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Once upon a time, there was a young witch who fell under an old and terrible curse. At least everyone thought it was a curse because the truth was, no one knew what caused the “Sleeping Beauty Sickness.” It was a rare and strange, but it was famous enough that the Muggles even told stories about how these bewitched girls would wake, but every wizard knew the truth: no one ever woke up. They laid in a coma, aging slowly, until they died. When the child of a famous pureblood family falls ill, she is entrusted to Saint Mungo’s hospital, and instead of a stone tower, is given her own Ward, which becomes a place of scandal and horror.

This chapter gave me quite the creeps. You nailed the setting. I liked Abigail, she was a cool character. And I didn't expect that to happen with Trelawney and all! I only have one little nitpick; I suppose Abigail's last name is spelled Resnik, because it was most of the time - once you spelled it Resnick though.

Another good chapter! Keep it up :)

The Day After by mudbloodproud

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: A death, and a man racked by grief. Is it even possible to survive a grief that goes beyond soul deep? Is it even worth surviving when you know in your heart, everything good in your life is gone?

Date: 08/03/09 Title: Chapter 1: Torment and Grief

Wow... This was just wow. At first I thought it was about Remus, but it does actually capture Severus' feelings in the situation perfectly. The emotions of anger and grief mix so well, reinforced by the image of shattering glass and general destruction.

It made no noise as it tipped and he felt oddly unsatisfied. Drawing his wand, he murmured a spell and the sofa exploded with a satisfying noise. Smiling grimly, he walked up the stairs and into his bedroom. This room had yet to see any destruction.

This part, to me, shows that he wants to systematically destroy the remains of his life that is now worthless for him. And, yes, when angry you want things to make a noise as they get destroyed.

His anger evaporated under the weight of his grief.

This sentence is perfect. I can quite see him crumbling with grief at this part.

A very good and powerful work of art, with perfect characterization of Snape, and also of Dumbledore, who came across as compassionate and caring.

~Nez

Author's Response: Nez,
Thank you for your review. I cannot believe, or maybe I can with what and whom I normally write, that no one has yet said they thought it was about George. That is who it started out as. Thanks again.

The Waiting Game by Equinox Chick

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The waiting room at St Mungo's is a dreary place. Ginny knows it better than many people, for she spends her days there waiting -- and hoping.

This is Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff writing for the extra credit One Floo over the Fwoopers Nest category in the Bookbasilisk Summer Challenge.

I would like to thank Apurva (DracoGurlFurever) for beta'ing this for me and making some great suggestions.

I am not JK Rowling - I doubt that shocks you.

Oh, Carole, this is most beautifully written! The story is a very sad one and you almost had me in tears. You portrayed Ginny very well; her fear and all was very tangible. I like how you put moments with her own family in there too, and how for the first two times in the story she couldn't muster the courage to face what's left of her father. The end, I think, is very powerful. It was a great story, and many people can relate. Sorry to hear about your father. I hope you keep him in your heart as his true self.

Again, great fic, and good luck in the challenge!

Author's Response: Thank you for the review, Nez. I do appreciate it. It was quite hard to write because it was so close to me, but I had a great beta who gave good advice. I do hav a lot of very happy memories. ~Carole~

Date: 08/08/09 Title: Chapter 1: The Very Last Option

Oh, this was priceless! I command you for your bravery on writing Dumbledore (he's a tricky character) and congratulate you for pulling it off that well. Gilderoy, of course, was quite in-character and hilarious. I loved Dumbledore pushing all the right buttons and flattering him when he needed to - it was a very Dumbledore thing. The end was great, as well! You have a way with Dumbledore. I will never get it how there was no one else available, though. He's a terrible teacher and is even bad at magic!

Well, congrats for a wonderful story!

Author's Response: Thank you very much for the review! I'll admit I was a little scared using Dumbledore as a character, but it turned out to be a lot of fun putting him in a room with Gilderoy Lockhart. They both have the ability to ramble at will. The funny thing about Lockhart is how he desperately tries (and often fails) to avoid looking like an absolute fraud.

I love this story very much, even though I'm not a big fan of older generation fics. But it flows so well, the characters are real and the situations believable. Keep up the great work!

Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah I have to say I'm not much of a "historical" person myself but this pair was just screaming at me from the Black Family Tree, and I'd never seen it done before, so... Glad you're enjoying it!
