Just a Boggart by trinsy

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Sirius was staring at the patch of carpet where the boggart, pretending to be Harry’s body, had lain. (OotP, Ch 9)

What was going through Sirius’s mind during “The Woes of Mrs. Weasley”? A missing moment from OotP.

Great story, fills in a gap nicely.
Good to see it from Sirius' point of view.
Thanks.

Severus Snape Goes On by Wynn Terre

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Willing out every memory he could think of, he gasped for the boy to take them. He had no other way to explain. The boy had to end this. There was no other way now. Perhaps there never would have been any other way. Thank God that Granger girl was with him to help. It would be over soon if the boy would only look at him.

Lily’s beautiful green eyes met his. Lily. Lovely Lily. His Lily. The green eyes swam and swayed out of focus, but Snape could see green distantly before him as though looking through a cloud. As he continued to watch, it came back into focus.

This is a story of Severus Snapes journey on

That was so sad.
Thank you for telling Alice's story.
It is very well written and so believable.
It made me cry.

Lavender, blue - A Gryffindor true by Equinox Chick

Rated: Professors • Past Featured Story
Summary: When Lavender Brown returns to Hogwarts for her seventh year, she knows things will be hard. Professor Dumbledore’s death has scared everybody, and with her Muggle-born mother in hiding, she makes a promise to her father to stay safe.

But to stay safe she must ignore her instincts and turn her back on her friends.

This is a Lavender Brown/Blaise Zabini story, but also concerns that last year at Hogwarts when the Trio were a'hunting Horcruxes.

Thank you to Laura (bookofsecrets) and Terri (mudbloodproud) for beta'ing the first chapter, Alyssa (Harry4lif) for the second and Emma (Amortentia x) for taking over the reins. And Natalie for the last chapter.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. I doubt that surprises anyone.

This story won the 2010 QSQ for Best Chaptered Non-Canon Romance. Thank you to everyone who nominated, appreciated and judged.

ATTENTION: Because of prissy glitch on the archive, stories with a rating about 3rd-5th cannot be read. I have lowered the rating to enable access, but the content remains the same. This is a PROFESSORS rated fic. Read at your own discretion - the sexual situations warning is there for a reason.

A great chapter, so well written.
You kept very well to canon and developed your own story too.
Looking forward to finding out what happens next.

It's getting really scary now!! Poor Nicole! Poor Sev!
This is a really good story. Thanks for keeping the chapters coming in regularly.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, things do hotten up for the next couple of chapters. Nicole has bitten off more than she can chew.

Great story, good to hear it from Sev's point of view.
Just being picky, but would Severus as a very formal and articulate English wizard have used the expression "hang tough"?
It's not a common expression in the UK.
Looking forward to hearing more of the story.

Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it. 'Hang tough' has become quite a well-known phrase in the UK - especially for those that watch the Gladiators. You're right about it being a little too informal for Snape, though - he is a very challenging character to keep in IC, so thanks for the comment!

Second Chance at Life and Love by mudbloodproud

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: “Is it true five years have passed since that night? That I have been dead for five years?”

Hermione had known love with Ron. But, now he was married to someone else and Hermione was alone with only her work at the Ministry to keep her busy.

But, when she was asked by Minister Shacklebolt to handle a problem, would Hermione find love with someone from her past?

Sirius Black’s life was cut short when he fell through the Veil in the Department of Mysteries. But, somehow, he inadvertently found a way to come back through the Veil.

When he was told it was five years after he fell, Sirius didn’t believe Kingsley. Sirius found himself being held in a room in the Department of Mysteries. A prisoner again.

When the door opened and a grown-up Hermione walked through it, Sirius was stunned. How could this be the same girl he had known?

This is the story of a lost girl, a man back from the dead, and a love story that will be talked about for years.

Grave Days by Northumbrian

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Front page: THE DAILY PROPHET 4 May 1998

TOM RIDDLE – THE SELF-STYLED LORD VOLDEMORT

Editors Note: At the request of the Ministry for Magic this Official Statement issued by the Office of the Minister is produced full and unedited.

OFFICIAL MINISTRY STATEMENT

This official statement has been compiled with the assistance and co-operation of Mr Harry Potter.

“Lord Voldemort” was, in fact a man named Tom M. Riddle, son of a witch, Merope Gaunt and a Muggle, Tom Riddle Senior. The Ministry has decided that in all future official publications Riddle will be referred to by his given name.

There has already been much speculation and wild rumour regarding the events at Hogwarts School. The Ministry can confirm that Tom M. Riddle was killed at dawn on the morning of Saturday, 2 May. Riddle was disarmed by Harry Potter while in the act of firing a killing curse at Mr Potter. The curse killed Riddle rather than its intended target.

WHERE IS HARRY POTTER?

Despite the Official Ministry Statement (published above) we are no closer to receiving an answer to the question on the lips of every witch and wizard in the country. Where is Harry Potter?

It appears that Mr Potter left Hogwarts School early yesterday morning, apparently in the company of his close associates Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. An attractive young Ministry clerk, who did not wish to be named, told The Prophet “He’s at the Ministry, having an important meeting with the Minister. My friends and I saw him. He asked us out to the pub, but we had to turn him down.” This statement is at odds with a report from the Portkey Office that Mr Potter has fled the country, travelling to Australia with his companions.

The days after the battle were days of grief and mourning. Grave Days.

Another great chapter.
I love the way you keep to canon so well and bring in things like Lee's Potterwatch.
Luna is great as well. She always sounds authentic.
Thanks for a really good story. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you. I’m trying my best to keep everything (and everyone) to canon. The next chapter (in fact the final three chapters) are being betaed right now. -N-

That was great! Loved the ending most unexpected.
You have dealt very well with the unease that funerals produce.
Sad, funny, very well observed.
This is a first class story.

Author's Response: I’m glad that you enjoyed the ending. There are a few clues scattered about in earlier chapters. I thought they were obvious. Funerals can never be happy occassions, and trying to capture the unease was something I was striving to do, so thank you.

That was great!!!
You are the best writer at getting the true voice of the characters.
Luna was spot on.
Looking forward to the new story.
Keep writing you have a great gift.

Author's Response: Thank you. I am so happy that you like my characterisation. :D I am trying to work on a Luna one-shot, but it’s slow going, she is so difficult to get right. I hope that you enjoy A&S Now that I’ve started writing, I simply can’t stop. -N-

This is a great story. My most favourite just now.
Really appreciate how quickly the new chapters are coming up.
The characters and the dialogue are really authentic. Well done!

Author's Response: Frankly, given the huge gap between the first chapter anf the rest, I'm astonished as to how quickly the chapters are coming up. Thank LuNaLoVeGoOdLoVer, not me. She continued to beta additional chapters regardless of the fact that Chapter 2 was rejected several times. We got there in the end and now I have a healthy (but rapidly diminishing) backlog of chapters to post. I strive to keep the characters and dialogue authentic, so thanks for the kind words.

Company by HollynPhoenix

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Minerva knew it was time to leave. She was ready. So why was it so hard to walk out that door? A one-shot moment of transition in one character's life after the war. Why are life's major transitions so challenging, and what is it we really need from each other?

Of Snake Bites and Dittany Cures by Iva1201

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: "There is someone there. Someone watching us. I can tell. There, over by the bushes."

(Hermione Granger to Harry Potter, Christmas Night 1997, graveyard in Godric's Hollow)

Christmas 1997 story, compliant to DH 1st half. My guess as to the person hiding behind the bushes? Professor Severus Snape visiting Lily Evans. The story is Snape-Potter mentoring one.

Enjoying this story.
Snape is one of my favourite characters and you do a really good job on him.
Do you think Dumbledore was really uncaring? Perhaps more driven by the need to see the bigger picture but he did admit that he had made mistakes.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
