Hi, i'm an over 40 harry potter books lover. I also like to read other books. :) I just want to read the stories and review them. I'm not saying i'll never write potter fan fic, but so far my ideas aren't as great as some of the stories i've read over the years. So for now i'll be a reader.

Hogwarts Houses Divided by Inverarity

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

Teddy Lupin's first year at Hogwarts. Canon-compliant. Nominated for a 2008 QSQ for best Post-Hogwarts story.

The war is over, and all is well, they say, but the wounds remain unhealed. Bitterness divides the Houses of Hogwarts. Can the first children born since the war's end begin a new era, or will the enmities of their parents be their permanent legacy?

Wow!! A great story. I cried thru most of the last few chapters. I loved how you dealt with the issue of uniting the houses. Puttng everyone's names on the oblisk along with house elves was brilliant. I was expecting someone to mention the goblin who helped the children escape (his name escapes me). I too, had figured out that the professors noticed how the DA was helping unite the houses in ways they couldn't. I thot that was a great idea!! Would love to see a sequel. :)

Bit of a Nasty Shock by hestiajones

Summary: ‘I’m half and half,’ said Seamus. ‘Me dad’s a Muggle. Mam didn’t tell him she was a witch ’til after they were married. Bit of a nasty shock for him.’

You'd love to hear this story, wouldn't you?

Thanks to Emma (Amortentia_x) for the Irishpick! :D And I am not J.K.Rowling, though they all belong to her.

Good story! I liked it. Maybe she should have shown Liam some less intimidating magic, than that she could turn things (maybe HIM) into birds. Snicker. Snicker. I guess that would come as a 'nasty' shock. Great idea!

Author's Response: Sorry for the very late reply. I never got the notification :/. But thanks for the review! :) That would have been a nasty shock indeed lol.

Great Premise! Enjoyed your first few chapters. I thought that James was suddenly going to go goody goody, after his first conversation with Lily, but fortunately you didn' t do that. It would have been too unbelievable! Keep Writing. One criticism: possessives: it's the Ravenclaw's face, not the Ravenclaws face. Remember the apostrophe.

Author's Response: Thank you! :) And I always miss one or two of those out for some reason D: gonna have to keep on top of it! :) Next chapter will hopefully be up soon, I've started back at Uni now so updates won't be as often as I would like.

Christmas in Oz by abovelevel

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:
Hermione deals with the past and learns to move forward during the unforgettable Christmas of 1999 in Australia.

Written for the 'Of Christmases' Past, Present and Future Challenge' in the Great Hall on the Forums, Prompt #3. Thanks!

Thanks also to my very helpful beta-reader, Bookworm!

Great story! So Hermione-ish and that Ron keeps her from living inside her own head by reminding her of the love in families- even if there is a witch/mortal divide to cross. Would have loved seeing how ron was accepted by the grangers, as we've already seen how hermione was accepted by the weasleys. I thot it was ok that there was a time lapse from the end of the war to Hermione looking for her parents because of the time it would have taken to restabalize the wizarding world- catching remaining death eaters, rebuilding etc. hermione would have wanted to keep her parents safe until she knew everything really was ok in England. And i can see her wanting to help in the aftermath clean-up/ rebuilding of lives as well.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! Seems I never have time for fun writing during the semester, but it's still nice to come back to this website during vacations and see that someone had been reading my little one-shots. Happy New Year!

A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh by minnabird

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story

Counting the Ways by ToBeOrNotToBeAGryffindor

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:

For over four years, Dean Thomas had been sending his polite regrets to his mum, begging off of coming home for Christmas. But when he sensed discord in the most recent letter from his Muggle family, he decided that he needed to stop making excuses and start counting his blessings.

What he found when he got there, however, proved to be more than just a simple family gathering.

This story was nominated for a 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award: Best Post-Hogwarts Story

Great story! Loved that Dean finally found out who his bio-dad was. I bet you're really close if not spot on to what Rowling might reveal about dean's past. It makes so much sense.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Most of my stories deal with the grittier parts of life, but I actually enjoyed giving this gift to Dean, the gift of knowing who he was. :)

I'm Moving On by Maple_and_PheonixFeather

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: He had felt his heart break again, felt it shatter into a million pieces. Pieces that could never be put back together, a heart that would never love again.

Pain. Regret. Disappointments in love, the burden of mistake. A shattered heart, and a life given to reprimend that mistake.

It's been nineteen years since it all ended, and all he can think about is his mistakes, how he has gotten here, and the inability to let it go, and to move on completely.

He's in Canada, eh! Great story so far. Not sure i agree with the country music, tho. Keep going.

Author's Response: I'm sorry, I didn't see this due to the whole notification thing. Thanks for the review! And him listening to country music was nessasary for the resolution of the fic, so it had to happen. I hope you keep reading :) -Maple

ha, good story. Loved the 'send the damn deer' line. I see Ginny has gotten over her mooney- eyes hero worship of harry!

Albus Potter and the Headmaster's Portrait by rbyanes

Reviewer: karin Signed
Date: 09/20/11 Title: Chapter 1: ALBUS DUMBLEDORE AND THE HEADMASTER’S PORTRAIT

Good story. I especially liked how Albus was able to stand up for himself under Snape's scrutiny - with secure confidence in his abilities, not by being brash. And that Snape is a hero to all the SLOTH group- which he takes in such typical stride.

Author's Response: Thanks Karin! I tried to be as true to Rowling's vision as possible and so Harry's son would have that same backbone.

The Stars As My Witness by Gmariam

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: I cannot see their bodies, buried beneath the ruins of their life together, but I know they are there. I can imagine their green and hazel eyes, staring into the dark emptiness. It is all I can do to stay upright, filled with equal parts rage and grief as I gaze unseeing at the heartbreaking scene.

How did it come to this?

The Last Enemy That Shall Be Defeated Is Death by simply_enamored

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: What if, on that fateful October night, it was not Lily's sacrifice that saved Harry, but James' sacrifice that saved them both? What if Lily is left to pick up the broken pieces of her life after its been shattered into a million pieces? Who would be there to rescue her? Who would get her through the night? This is a story of loss, of pain, of hopelessness, and ultimately, of healing.

------------------------------

After much deliberation and input from all you guys who have read thus far, I have officially decided to continue this story. It was initially supposed to be a one-shot, but I've decided I already have too much of my heart invested in it to quit now. :) Second chapter in progress. Thanks, all! Advice and reviews are still very welcome!
Reviewer: karin Signed
Date: 09/21/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

A great prologue for an alternative view of Harry's First Year at Hogwarts. Does he have a 'whole' family or is Lily still too wrapped up in James' death to care for Harry? Do Harry & Lily have relationships with Petunia & Dudley? Is Dudley different since Petunia still has Lily and doesn't need to smother him? Does he meet Ron for the first time on the train, or does he already know the Weasleys- since they are a well-known family? Is he still a Griffendor or will he be sorted into a different house? Lots of questions... answers needed!
