Harry Potter and the Heirs of Slytherin by fawkes_07

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: This is an alternate version of Book Seven. Harry reluctantly returns to Hogwarts to train with a new DADA teacher, one appointed in specifically for Harry in Dumbledore's will. As the rest of the Wizard World reacts to Dumbledore's defeat, Harry develops the skills he needs to fulfill the Prophecy--including mastery of the Kedavra curse.

Mysteries are explored along the way, particularly the "missing 24 hours" from 1981--the span of time between Hagrid taking Baby Harry from the ruins of Godric's Hollow on Halloween Night, and his arrival to hand off Baby Harry on Privet Drive the following night. The Veil Room in the Department of Mysteries is also revisited. A traitor is uncovered, and Dumbledore's wisdom comes into question. And even when all goes as planned, things are not all they seem.

ULTIMATE SQUEE!

Oh. My. Godric. After a near two-month wait, we FINALLY get a new chapter!

And man, was it emotional. Merlin, what a sob-fest....

"Damaged goods" I'll admit my perverted mind did a double take when Tura said that, but afterwards.

Another sad fact: two days ago, I had a dream that this fic was updated. In the dream, I sat down at the compy and causally went to MNFF. Then I saw Heirs on the "Most Recent" list and I began screaming things similar to what was said at the beginning of this review. I speedy-quick read it, but then was like, "NNNOOOOOO!!!!" because it was a disappointing chapter. I saw a "next" button though, so I clicked it but then the page read "Access denied. This chapter has not yet been validated by a moderator.". I was, again, exclaiming my distaste when I woke up.

Oddly, it was parallel to how I feel now. It was a little short and a little lacking in substance, but a lot of important planning and healing went on.

I can only hope we don't have to spend an eternity dying for the next chapter.

-Stubby (Boo-yah!)

Author's Response: Short?! It was 7000 words! Admittedly, I thought about adding a significant event but decided to save it for 38. It would have made the chapter at least 11,000 words. But half of 38 is written already, so it shouldn\'t be nearly so long a wait.

Forgotten by Blue Bell

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: In the end, Lily ended up with James. We all know that. However, could Lily have previously been in love with someone before James? Perhaps, a certain Slytherin? What happens when he comes back, looking for closure, for permission to move on?

Wow. That was quite interesting.

I found your characterisation of Snape and Lily compelling. How they still loved eachother, but wanted to be able to move on.

A nice little one shot.

The last line: ooh.

When the Cat's Away by fawkes_07

Rated: Professors •
Summary: The young ladies of 5th-year Potions are called out for a 'special class,' leaving the boys without their genteel influence. That calls for a special lesson.

This is a Book 5, Harry/Draco short fic that is not meant for younger or saner readers.

*chuckles* Oh, that's just fantastic.

Author's Response: *snerk* Thanks. That\'s the edited version.

Speaker for the Dead by coppercurls

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: "You all know why we are gathered here today. I am not going to make any excuses. I am not going to pretend that the past never happened, that it never existed..."

Harry speaks at Draco's funeral, recounting a life lived with truth.

Wow. That was good.

Author's Response: Thanks, I\'m glad you liked it!

In Muggle World by Daedalus Plum

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: What if Harry made friends with someone in the Muggle world? When a girl named Gillian gets caught up in Harry's world of magic, Harry gets a link to the Muggle world that will prove invaluable.

Gillian lives on Magnolia Crescent. She is a Muggle, but not the kind generally accepted by the majority of Muggles. Gillian finds herself wishing daily that there was more to the world in which she lives. Something more fantastic and wondrous, as she sometimes believes there is. As circumstances would have it, she meets Harry Potter, that strange boy who's nothing but trouble. It's rumored he spends the school year at St. Brutus' Institute for Incurably Criminal Boys. At first she's terrified of him, but even lies that conceal one of the world's greatest secrets can't keep at bay her curiosity and longing for something greater. A bond is formed between her and Harry that not all the magic in the world can conceal. And as more about the world is revealed, the question arises: is she a Muggle or Squib?

Wow, cool! You should definitely keep this up.

Author's Response: Thanks! I\'m a little sporadic about updates, but I do have about 5 more chapters written! They just keep getting held up in mugglenet verification. (I\'m really glad the verification process is so picky here, because it really improves the overall quality of the fiction, but ti\'s very frustrating when your chapter is denied after days of waiting for things like not capitalizing \"Muggle\", lol).

Standing Out From the Crowd by Valentinia

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: His beautiful black eyes have always stood out from the crowd for her. Even today, when she is the centre of attention, she is thinking of him and wishing things were different...

Huh? Uh, what is this? It's like... a drabble, but... what's it doing here? I'm confused.

Author's Response: ... Erm, it\'s actually a fanfic. Did I delete part of it accidentally... *is scared* ... Let me go check...

Author's Response: OMG! You were right... Thanks! Good thing I saved it in word, too. I can\'t think how I deleted almost all of my fic...

Direst Cruelty by just_the_contrary

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •

My chest shrinks; I burn.
How can I attempt to crush myself
If I myself am crushing me?

Excellent form. The rhyme and meter are smooth and effortless. And, it really does tie with themes from Macbeth like you said.

Reach the Open Space by Tinn Tam

Rated: 6th-7th Years •

For Lily by Valentinia

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Voldemort is at the height of his power. His terrible reign is fought only by the Order of the Phoenix, and they are outnumbered ten to one. Petunia Evans, 19, is fresh out of Hogwarts and a not-so-useful member of said Order. But when Petunia's memory is modified and members are kidnapped by Death Eaters, it is up to Petunia, her childhood friend Severus and the four Marauders to change the direction of the war and save the person most important to Petunia. Along the way, they will have to face old grudges and old crushes that can be just as harmful as the Death Eaters.

Originally an unfinished entry for a gauntlet way back when, this fic evolved from there.

Note: This fic is AU, based on the question "What if Petunia had been the witch instead of Lily?".

Christmas Eve with the Snapes by Hermione_Rocks

Aww, how cute! Anything that vaguely relates to Snape in any way appeals to me, so thanks for brightening my day a bit!

Dirty Magic by Wings of the Morning

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: He's got a horrible, deep, sinking feeling that he's just like the rest of his family. They're all a bit insane, and he feels insane right about now, absolutely bloody wild, like he's let some caged beast out, and it scares him.

(Sirius picked a bad night to run away from home. Rating for heavy cursing and situation. Oneshot.)

Ooh, you really capture Sirius' personality here. How, at the end, he hides his greif in lies and laughter.

What Lies Within by j4fun

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: This story is post HBP. The funeral service has ended and students are headed home aboard the Hogwarts Express. Most everyone is still stunned over the events of the last several days. Our trio is no exception. Harry would really prefer to close his eyes and just disappear for a bit. Unfortunately, he doesn't have that luxury. There is so much more for him to do, so much more for him to figure out. Time is running out and things have never seemed so near impossible. Harry has to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes, and then face his greatest nemesis. Can he protect those he loves? Can he protect himself? Can he meet his ultimate destiny?

While we wait for the release of Deathly Hallows, I thought it would be fun to see how far my own imagination would take me. All of it, of course, has been inspired by Rowling's beloved magical world.

Note: No DH references are included. Chapters 1 - 25 were written, with 1 - 20 posted before the release of DH, and I delayed reading DH until the final chapters were written.

Enjoy.

Oh. Oh.

I really enjoyed this fic. I liked the beggining a lot, but the middle just didn't do it for me; nor did the final battle.

But this chapter made up for it. It was so amazingly perfect that I don't know what to say.

Thank you.

"Harry was different. It took a little longer for him to smile and a little longer for the light to reach his eyes."

"It had all come full circle. Everything had ended where it began."

Author's Response: Hi, I\'m glad this chapter didn\'t disappoint you. I have some of my own favorites as well, and this is one of them. Thanks so much for the review and for sticking with the story.

The Loss of a Happy Ending by Lalalalatina

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: The cries of victims,
Reaching your ears.

The rain on your face,
Merging with tears.

A poem about the final battle and the loss of a happy ending (hence the title).
Reviewer: Stubbornly_appeared Signed
Date: 08/10/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Wow. Nice n' dark. Really liked how the last lines rhymed in pairs; it didn't feel forced at all. Just one question: I know it can be interpreted however you want, but who did you intend this to be about? Judging from the story banner, I'd guess it's Harry being killed by Voldemort, but....

Author's Response: I intended it to be about Harry (this was written a while ago, before DH) so that is why Harry is on the banner. Readers may picture any character in HP though since I wasn\'t too specific in the actual poem. Thanks for the review! ^^

What You Can Do For Me by Lalalalatina

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Hate me.
Hate my mistakes
And scold me
For doing wrong.

A poem about what Harry's friends can do for him to prepare for the final battle. Told from Harry's POV.

(please read and review!)

P.S. character death is just at the very end and there aren't any details or anything, the death is inexplicit.

To Burn by Wings of the Morning

It feels like he's a ticking time-bomb, only he doesn't know how long he's got left.

Reviewer: Stubbornly_appeared Signed

Ooh. Teh Sirius awesomeness. You know, he probably is insane. After everything that's happened to him, anyone would be. Actually, my friend diagnosed him with a severe case of PTSD, which is strangely accurate to this fic... wierd. Nice job, by the way.

Twice Lost by Chaser921

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •

How sweet! Minimal fluff and a whole lotta love. I usually don't read Lily/James (or romance, for that matter) but this was actually pretty good.

Thanks!
