Alone by BeautyInTheBreakdown

Rated: Professors •
Summary: How could one night change a life so drastically? Something as simple as choosing to take a walk could ruin a life forever.

Nell is a fifth year at Hogwarts, but she's not like the rest. She's been through more than most could even dream up.
Reviewer: Calico Signed
Date: 10/28/08 Title: Chapter 1: The Wind's Whisper

This story is so terribly sad, but at the same time I love Nell so I have to keep reading and find out what happens to her. And since Remus is one of my overall favorite characters, it's nice to see him in this story too. I think the fact that Nell has a secret she is trying to deal with gives her relationship with Remus a more realistic feel than a lot of other Marauder-era pairings I've read. This is a stroke of brilliance! Update soon!

Author's Response: The last chapter is in the Queue right now. Never fear though, there is a whole series based on this story in the making. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

It took me 3 days to read through all the chapters of this story because I couldn't stop once I started. The plot is fantastic, all the characters are alive, and the cliffies get me every time. Please update soon - I'm dying for the exciting climax that you've promised!

Author's Response: I'm glad I could get you hooked! I always think an exciting story is best :) Thanks very much for the review; I'll try and update as quickly as I can!

Escape by BlackClaude

Summary: A ballad about my favorite conflicted hero and the lengths to which his loyalty drives him.

Wowww this poem is crazy good. I heard it before I read it, on the audiofiction thingie on iTunes, and then I had to look it up in print. Like a lot of other reviewers I thought the last 2 lines were so powerful, but I also loved how you said Sirius "made his journey westward with the night sky as his guide." It just fits so well with how all the Black names that come from constellations. Anyway, I can see why this poem won a prize and was chosen as the first audiofic to be read - its incredible!

Childhood's End by spiderwort

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Minerva McGonagall comes of age during turbulent times, marked by a horrific Muggle war and the cunning predations of a malevolent, long-lived warlock named Grindelwald. Her own life is marked by struggle: her mother's mysterious mental disturbance; her friends' troubles, which she feels bound to ameliorate; and the looming responsibilities she faces as sole heir to Connghaill Keep. This book, the first in a series, records her last carefree summer and her first year at Hogwarts. The series itself, titled "Before the Beginning", follows Minerva through her formative years, from 1936 through 1945, the end of both the Muggle war and Grindelwald's freedom, and the rise of a new Dark Lord.

The milieu, the protagonist and most of the characters belong to Jo Rowling. The plot is my own.

Thanks to my most excellent Scots, Brit-picking, and history-savvy beta, Ewan Munro. I owe him much more than thanks. Here's to you, Ewan! Most patient beta a girl ever had.

This is my favorite fanfiction story, and I'm waiting anxiously for the next chapter. You're writing style is wonderful, and your vision of McGonagall's childhood is so original. I can't believe how much you put into making the cultural setting believable. Please write more soon!!!!

Author's Response: That makes me feel so good, Calico. (Love your name BTW--a reference to my fave in cats.) Here it comes (as soon as the betas pass it). Just four more chaps to go in this book.

I'm dying for the next chapter so I can find out what happens in the duel! Aaah! I can't wait! This is my favorite fic, and your cliffhangers are torture (although I know the story is better that way). Please post again soon!!

Author's Response: Thanks, Calico. (I think.) You make me feel happy and guilty at the same time, but that\'s okay. :) Next chapter coming right up--if I didn\'t make too many mistakes for the betas.\r\n\r\n

The Battle for Hogwarts by Ashwinder

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: With Harry off hunting Horcruxes, Ginny, Neville and Luna reform the DA and do what they can against the new regime at Hogwarts. Contains DH spoilers, obviously!

Date: 02/03/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

This is one of my favorite fanfiction stories, and I can't wait for the rest! You really do write surprisingly like JK. I've always wondered what it was like for Ginny, Neville, and Luna at Hogwarts with the others gone, and this story is exactly what I needed. PLEASE keep going!! You're an excellent writer.

Thy Will Be Done by Gonz

Summary: et cognoscetis veritatem, et veritas liberabit vos.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free” - John 8:32

Nathaniel Benn has always served peacefully as a friar in his small English village. But when an innocent Muggle is accused of witchcraft, Nathaniel is thrust into confrontation with a zealous Inquisitor and apathetic Wizards. As the situation worsens, Nathaniel must decide whether he will watch innocents burn or risk his life to tell the Church the truth about witchcraft.

This story was so cleverly written, I had no idea until the end who Nathaniel eventually became. It was a really cool idea to make a story during the time of witch hunts, and then to tie it all into the life of a Hogwarts ghost. I hope you write more stuff like this.

Author's Response: Thanks, it was the challenge prompt that inspired this one. I hope I can come up with more because this was a blast to write. I\'m glad you enjoyed this, thanks for the review.

Learning To Live by MarauderWannabe

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Learning to live, just might cost them their lives.

Lily Evans needs to learn how to really live. Not her imitation of living. Real living doesn't involve homework, school, following the rules, or playing it safe. Real living is taking risks, breaking the rules, being spontaneous, and going to fast. And there is one person that is going to show her how. One summer and James Potter later and Miss Lily Evans might not recognise herself. Too bad, all good things must come to an end.....

"Lily, we're friends. I would never betray any of my friends. Plus, you honestly think I would let old Moldy-shorts get to me?" he joked.

As Happily Ever After As They're Gonna Get by cjbaggins

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: My take on the first of those 'nineteen years' between the 36th chapter of DH and the epilogue.

Warnings: contains an unusually-shaped ring, a nosy neighbour, a rude shop assistant, shaving mishaps, thoughtful gestures, threatening goblins, and, unexplained appearances of Romantic!Ron and Romantic!Harry. You have been warned.

Rating is for *mild* innuendo and *mostly* innocent interactions but I wouldn't let my 9 year old read it.

I just read all 11 chapters in one sitting - this story is amazing! All the characters are so...themselves, but with newfound maturity. Plus, you do such a good job with all the relationships. My favorite parts so far have been 1) what Harry did at Gringotts with Gryffindor's sword, 2) the book Harry gave to Mr. Weasley, 3) Ron asking Hermione to the Yule Ball, and 4) the entire memorial service scene. But honestly this entire story rocks my socks and I cannot wait for more. The only thing I wish you would incorperate (and quite possibly you have plans for this to come in later) is Teddy Lupin, and Harry's godfather responsibilities. Besides that, I cannot find anything to complain about. I am dying to read on so please update soon!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reading and reviewing, Rachel. I am thrilled that you took the time to read it all in one sitting. I was just thinking the other day that my fic is getting to that point where it is too long for newcomers to bother with. I'm glad that wasn't the case with you! Your favourite parts are favourites of mine as well (the sword bit at Gringotts was the very first scene I wrote actually). I will tell you now, so as not to disappoint you, but I have no plans for Teddy in this fic. However, the only other idea I have for a story involves Harry offering some godfatherly advice to a teenaged Teddy, so look for that in the near future. Stay tuned! cj

James or the Giant Squid? by x_GinnyPotter_x

Your story is one of my favorites of the fanfiction - it's such an inspired idea! I really like your depiction of Lily, James, and Sirius as kids. I hope you write more one-shots like this.

Author's Response: Wow, thanks! It\'s always a real complement to hear I wrote a favorite. The Marauders are fun to write for - I may be writing for them again one of these days :)

Great Expectations by Cassandras Cross

Rated: 6th-7th Years •

I haven't reviewed before, but I've been reading this fic for a while, and I'm finally reviewing (sorry it took so long) because Sirius is my favorite character, and I've been waiting for his dream-visit for a while. Anyway, I think this was my favorite chapter so far. A lot of the things Sirius said were really beautiful, about spirits and everything. And, of course, your writing was amazing, as always. I can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, and I\'m very glad you liked \"my\" Sirius. He always struck me as a rather Hemingway-ish character, a handsome rogue with an adventurer\'s gleam in his eye, so that\'s why I chose a quote from \"A Farewell to Arms.\" I really appreciate your review. Thanks again!

Oh no, another cliffhanger! So good, and yet so torturous! Please update again soon, I need to know what happens to Ginny, and to Harry.

Author's Response: Good AND tortuous? Now there\'s an oxymoron if I ever heard one! I\'ve already updated. You\'ll be able to read it as soon as the mods validate the next chapter.

Luna's Poems by Trivia Camlee

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Why was Luna sorted into Ravenclaw? Perhaps her nonsense has more meaning; there is more to her than meets the eye. Luna's Poems: a look inside some of her thoughts.

Reviewer: Calico Signed
Date: 02/16/08 Title: Chapter 1: Can you measure it?

I thought your poem really captured a Luna-ish state of mind, and that it flowed well. It really shows how optimistic she is about life, even though she has very few friends. I hope you continue with this idea, I want to read more!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I\'m glad you think the perspective was Luna-ish, I tried to make it as true to her as I could. I have some more poems of Luna that will hopefully make it through the queue once all the database problems are sorted out. Thanks again!

Luna Lovegood and the Dark Room Legacy by Hotrav

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: In the dark the mind has no distractions. It is free to wander, to dream, to fret and to lose grip on reality. For months, Luna Lovegood and the wandmaker Mr. Ollivander have sat in their dark cell in the Malfoy’s basement awaiting their final fates.
How they deal with the fear and each other will have a major affect on both of them for the rest of their lives.

This story is really powerful - and frightening. I'm glad you brought Reg into the story, but it was awful that he died. At least his family escaped, though. I hope you get to the part where Harry and the others arrive to save them; I don't know how much more misery I can read about.

Untold Tales From the Songbook of Priscilla Love by TheVanishingAct

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Priscilla Love, a sixth year at Hogwarts during Harry Potter's final year, is a hormonal, profanity-loving, teenage girl who has the hots for Seamus Finnigan and the hates for Lavender Brown. Her best friend Valerie is a shawl-wearing binge-emotionalist who could name a thousand uses for toadstools at a moment’s notice. Phoebe and Selene Rowle are notorious for their father’s crimes as a Death Eater, but not for any wrongs they committed (unless it’s for being the most mysterious set of twins Hogwarts has ever seen). So what, exactly, do these four have in common?

An attack on Dean Thomas leaves him severely injured and left in the care of St. Mungo's, where he learns that he can no longer communicate normally. He has secrets of where the Dark Lord's Horcruxes are, but without being able to talk or write, the only way he can communicate is through his art.

It's up to Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a dispatch of Ministry Officials to find these Horcruxes. It's up to Priscilla Love to tell her point of view of these events as she works with her peers to understand what the bloody hell is going on. Oh, and she must win Seamus' heart (and unoccupied side of the bed).

It’s a matter of life and death – for everyone involved.

Wow this is good! I don't think I've ever read a mugglenet story with such a real OC. Priscilla's bad, but deliciously so, and I love what you've done with all the canon characters, as well as your other OC's. Please update very soon - I can't wait to see what happens in St. Mungo's!

Author's Response: Oh, thanks so much! I'm glad you like Priscilla :P It's a real compliment, so thanks again! I'll try to update ASAP.

Your story is amazing, and surprising in a good way. But it was also terribly sad. I really liked your take on the mixing of the muggle and wizarding worlds and how difficult it is for a relationship that spans both to be sustained. I hope you keep writing - if you do, I'll definitely keep reviewing!

Author's Response: Thank you! I look forward to your reviews ;)

This chapter was beautifull written. It's my favorite so far. I especially liked the line that said "a dark river that ran as warm as blood" - it fits the story well. I really want to find out how Corrina fares in the battle in Faerie, so I hope this isn't the end.

Author's Response: Thank you!\r\n\r\nI have one more chapter of this story, and then perhaps I will leave Corrina and Scorpius alone for a while and come back to them. I can sense a plot bunny for a sequel showing some \"signs of life\". I\'ve an idea for a Founders Era story with ties to Faerie, I think that will be my next endeavor.

Wow, I can't wait to read more of this story! Is Corrina's back story going to become clearer in the next few chapters? I'm not sure I entirely understand where she comes from. But anyway, this is an intriguing idea. Keep writing!

Author's Response: Corrina\'s back story comes out in Chapter 3. Thanks so much for the encouragement!
