Autumn Leaves by Phia Phoenix

What an inspired (and beautiful) way to express the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald! The division of your stanzas based on the seasons made for really good organization. Also, your most powerful lines were all the ones inside the parenthasis. The best detail, I thought, was "rage-colored leaves" - it forged the ultimate link between the topic of your poem and the name you chose for it.

I can't wait to see how Dandelion fares at Hogwarts! It was really brilliant to take such a small character and create a whole story around her. I have a question though - what time period is this supposed to be taking place?
Author's Response: Dandelion--or Dilys, I should say--is going to get to Hogwarts in chapter three (she's got to get books and a wand first!). The time period is the early to mid 1800's...I'm sure there were still remote little villages back then...

Date: 02/26/09 Title: Chapter 14: Wizard-Dueling
I just wanted to take the time to say that I kept myself from reading this next installment of your series for as long as I could, because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop once I started. I really didn't want to get obsessed with a story again, but I couldn't help it. Now I'm so glad that I caved and read all fourteen chapters at once - Lands Below is, in my opinion, even better than Thorn Circle. I think what I like best is that Alex has grown up enough that she's lost a bit of her recklessness. But she's also so much like her old self in that she can't help getting involved in the MMS, and she's just as curious as ever about all the things that Max can tell her. Btw, I love Max, I love that Alex has a brother, and I love the way you fit him in. My favorite chapter was the one when Max explains who he is to Alex. The only thing still driving me crazy about Alex is that she's not being a very good friend to Anna right now, and she doesn't even seem to realize how much she's hurting her. But of course, you intended that. You intended all of this. It's incredible! It's stupendous! It's making me check the 'most recent' page almost daily! So thank you for writing this series, it's the best thing I've ever encountered on this site.

Max's offer to relinquish his mission with the MMS was just so...brotherly! I really really love his character, and all I can say is that he better not turn out to be a fake like Journey or I'll die. His and Alex's relationship is the most wonderful thing in this story. And of course, all the drama with Darla is exciting, but I feel like Max will be more important overall in the series. I'm getting attached - don't let anything happen to him, please!

I really like the start to this story - I can't wait to see how Draco and Hermione react when they meet on the Hogwarts Express, especially after the way he treated her in Diagon Ally. Also, I think you meant "figment of the imagination" instead of "pigment." I can't remember which chapter that was in, but that's the only tiny edit I found - otherwise it was flawless. This story was so sad, and portrays Snape's childhood so well. The line about how he couldn't handle a little sweetness in his life expertly foreshadows his later years, too. what a brilliant idea! Still, it made me a bit melancholy afterward, which I'm sure was the point.

That was so sweet! I was happy that Emma gave in to Tyrone for once - but Jordan and Giorgi stole the show for me. I think Jordan's technological-dancing was so creative and romantic, even more romantic than everything Tyrone did. Thank you for such a wonderful Pentagon Christmas!

I just read this whole story in one go – it is fabulous! Cedrella and Septimus are so real, but then, Charis and Arcturus Black and all the others are, too. I NEED to know what happens next! Cedrella had better run away in the middle of the wedding and go find Septimus, or something equally dramatic. She can't seriously marry Caspar.... Update soon please!!

This was an adorable story; you really understood the characters and made Neville and Ginny's relationship so believable. I liked the way that you brought all of Neville's love interests into the story, from Ginny to Romilda to Luna, and finally to Hannah. The ending, although predictable, was cute.

Innocence is just so....innocent! And clueless, but in a really adorable way. And I'm so glad Anna's back! I was worried Alex was going to run away from school and try to save her from some terrible wizarding prison, or something equally dangerous. But I'm still really worried about what she's going to do about Max, and what she's going to do to Darla. Update again soon please!
Date: 06/07/10 Title: Chapter 29: A Life for a Life
I haven't left a review in ages, even though I admire this story so much. Today's chapter was...amazing. Frightening. Horrible. Amazing again. A lot of this book has reminded me of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, except that everything in the Lands Below and Beyond is infinitely darker than one measly basilisk. Innocence is a little like Ginny (in role, if not personality), and, as another review mentioned, Alexandra definitely shares Harry's "saving-people-thing". On a completely different note, I don't believe Max is coming back. Don't get me wrong, I miss him as much as everyone else does - and I wish he could come back - but he's not going to. I think in this chapter Alex accepted that a little more than before. But just because he isn't alive doesn't mean he won't reappear later on. Didn't Absalom Thorn say the Deathly Regiment once fought with wizards? I predict Max will come back somehow...but he won't come back to life.

This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've read here in a long time, especially for a Ron/Hermione. I especially loved the line about Hermione having been through a lifetime of change in a year, and the line "I never stop trying to see." This is a quick but powerful one-shot - I loved reading it.

I haven't been reviewing regularly because I'm abroad and tend to read new chapters on whichever fanfic site updates first, since I'm 7 hours ahead of America. But I swear, Alexandra has been what motivates me to get up on Mondays and Fridays, and I'm going to miss her until she returns in book 5. All I can say at this point is that I loved the book, love the characters more than ever, and am ridiculously curious about what comes next. Thank you for another awesome read. Seriously. I don't read any HP fanfics anymore except yours – I just can't resist. The AQ series is amazing, and I really hope you continue to have the time, dedication, and enthusiasm to write about Alexandra.
