Hi, I'm Emily
I'm eighteen (nineteen in a few months...god I feel old...) and from Australia. I'm in university (studying the never-ending joy that is science), and I, clearly, love Harry Potter. I enjoy writing (though at the moment my time is severly limeted - seriously, do you know how much energy is required to get good grades and maintain some semblance of a social life?), and am currently working on one story here on MNFF The Choices We Make
On that note, to anyone who's read my other story, Dumbledore's Secret, don't expect any updates soon. It's basically abandoned, because I just don't like it anymore. Maybe one day I'll bother to finish it, but...I doubt it.
OK, humor fics aren't supposed to make people cry! Which, btw, you totally did with this last chapter. I mean, it's sad, thinking about Sirius being dead - are you trying to tramatise me?
BUt seriously, other than that it's a really, really good story, and an even better list. Thank you for a good laugh.
Just so you know, when I read this chapter I was basically bawling my eyes out, and seriously considered hunting you down and murdering you for doing this to me! Buuuut...well, I do love a tragic ending almost as much as I love a happy one, and so I decided not to. Really, anyone can make a person smile with their story, but to make me cry as much as you did is almost an achievement. And I say almost only because I'm the world's biggest sap who can't watch The Notebook without crying.
Basically, I loved every single word of this story, even the annyoingly sad ones, and that's about all :)
It was aa great little story...right up until you mentioned head dorms. As a boarding school alum, I find the entire idea of head dorms completely stupid. No school in their right mind would allow two teenagers of opposite sexes to live in that kind of environment - most schools have seperate buildings for boys and girls, and mine had seperate campuses three kilometres from one another. Head dorms are the stupidest fanfic invention I've ever seen, basically just an easy way out for writers too lazy to think of more creative and realistic ways to get a couple together than to force them to live together.
On the other hand, your writing is really quite good. And the plot so far, and particularly the characterisation of Malfoy as a completely evil/scary/just a little psychotic arse is amazing, and refreshing compared to most people's fanfic!Dracos. If you hadn't have included head dorms, I probably would have kept reading...
Author's Response: The fact that Draco and Hermione share a dorm is stated in the plot summary; I find it curious that you chose to read anyway, considering the depth of your hatred of that particular plot device. I've never been to boarding school (or even a summer camp), and never had any friends who did, so I was unaware of convention. Hogwarts is nothing if not unconventional, however, so I don't find it that unrealistic. And I found it a little tricky to maintain the balance of their relationship while sharing a living space. Roommates can either be awesome or be the worst experience of your life; rarely are they both.
I'm glad that you liked my characters and the general plot, however. Too bad about the head dorms. ;)
Wow. I loved that ending; it was so unexpected and...yeah. Loved.
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed the fic! Thanks so much for reviewing. =D
Told you I'd read it :) It's actually really good, so far. Eventually I might even read the rest...
Author's Response: Ooo, thanks, Emily! I'm really glad you liked it! :D
Scorpius is a Malfoy? I mean...Scorpius is a Gryffindor? I wonder what his daddy thinks...
Author's Response: lol, yes, Scorpius is a Malfoy AND a Gryffindor :P. And his Daddy is ok with it. :) Why, you may ask? You will find that out in the next few chapters... OR in the third book ;)
Ha, I love it - it's called Albus Potter and the Triwizard Tournament, and...guess what, there's a triwizard tournament! I never saw that one coming :)
Kidding, by the way. I actually really like it so far :)
Author's Response: LOL. Hope you don't mind the changes in the tournament! And I'm glad you liked it! :D
Poor little Scorpius...no one deserves a Howler from their abusive, psychotic ex-Death Eater grandfather...
Author's Response: yeah, I know... Howlers suck, don't they? I'm glad WE don't have howlers. Instead, we get voicemails and telephone calls :P
I am so sad that I actually get a tiny thrill seeing this online in all it's glory :) It's very vicarious, I think.
More to the point - the story's lovely and wonderful :) Can't wait to see the next chappie (before everyone else)
Author's Response: Well, a large part of the credit goes to your betaing! I'm so glad you like it this much! And yes, you will be the first person to read chapter 2 :)
AH! Yay! It's up! Finally!
BTW, your comments regarding my awesome betaing powers are incredibly embarassing. And flattering... :)
Author's Response: :D
ok, um wait..... didn't I respond to this review once?? I remember I did..... odd >.<
anyways, hi-5! we finally did it :D And btw, my comments about your betaing were true :) you ARE awesome! :D
Growing up fully immersed in the early sixteenth century English aristocracy, all Anne Boleyn ever wanted was the chance to make her own choices. When she is suddenly thrust into the magical world of wizards and witches, her life is forever altered.
The seventh son of a seventh son sifts through papers on his desk in the Headmaster’s Office. His cousin, the six son of a six son, toils in the shadows bring his brethren down. They both know that the support of Anne Boleyn will be essential.
This is the tale of Anne Boleyn, her efforts to preserve justice in the face of adversity, and her influence on society that continues to this day.
At the beginning of this tale, one may wish to note that Anne has five fingers on her right hand.
Everything is not what it seems.
This story is down for revisions. You can still read the prologue, though.I'm intriuged by this chappie, and the whole concept of this story in general. I love love love Tudor England - it's like, my third-fave historical period - so that plus Harry Potter is gold as far as I'm concerned.
One tiiiiiny little issue - as far as I can remember from my tudor england history researching, the Boleyn family weren't actually that important. It was Anne's mother's family, the Howards, who were the really important family...but that's just me being a perfectionist-ish freak :) Otherwise, awesome story.
Author's Response: Thank you! *headdesk* oh gosh, you're right. I guess I'll just call it "literary license" and sneakily ignore it... hehe. Thanks reminding me of that, though. I'm glad you like the story overall :) ~Virgil
I feel like I've been guilted into reviewing. I can't let a fairy die!
Moving on - I'm kind of in love with the story so far. Just, you know, in general.
Author's Response: *evil cackle* it worked! All threats aside - thank you for reviewing! I'm quite in love with it, too (in a totally non self-glorification sort of way) - that's what keeps me writing new chapters :) ~Virgil
