Hello. I probably won't be posting any stories for a while, because I'm hard at work writing them.
I won't post them until they are completed because I've learned through experience that I cannot function with my writing process visible for all to see.

I haven't been on this site in a while, and it's...telling...how age and life in general can alter your perspectives. I find many of my old reviews and what-not kind of weird and pretentious now, so if you're reading something I wrote and finding yourself shaking your head at how stupid it is, know that I probably am too.
I'm sorry if I annoyed and/or offended anyone.

Just want to say that this site is amazing. The writers here taught me what fanfic could be and never to lower my standards.

Academic Discourse by adjectived noun

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: 1993. The passive-aggressive wife of a Death Eater harangues the passive-aggressive Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts. Hilarity ensues.
Reviewer: Rose Nym Signed
Date: 02/10/11 Title: Chapter 1: Academic Discourse

This is great. One of my favorite favorites. Canon-compliant, too. I love both Narcissa and Lupin, and you managed to portray them both very believably. That's saying a lot, as I am picky about the characterizations, especially my favorite characters. This made me laugh a whole bunch. The only reason why your story isn't as r&r'd as it should be is that it's been a while since it was published--stories like this one remind me of why it's worth it to dig through the archives, and not just look at the recent list. I also like how it makes fun of parent-teacher correspondence in the school systems; there were so many times in school when the silliness implicit in so much of it really struck me. Overall, a great story, and I can hardly think of anything to criticize. Maybe the inclusion of the Greengrasses as a "prominent family", because we don't really see barely any of them in the books, but that's just my personal opinion. I'm gonna send my mother a link to this, I know she'd enjoy it. She probably won't review, unless I can convince her to get an account here...;) A great story! Thanks for doing such a good job with it!

A Death Eater's Bedtime Story by Sly Severus

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: A father tells his young son a familar story. A story that has become the boy's favorite. It is the story of the Dark Lord and the evil Harry Potter.
Reviewer: Rose Nym Signed
Date: 02/10/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

This is great! One of my favorites of my favorites. Everybody who's read Harry Potter should read this, it's that good. This was chilling in a subtle way, and I enjoy that quality in fiction, especially in short stories. The first time I read this, I could see it as Lucius and Draco, but reading it again I don't think it's them. I've been forced to think very very hard about the Malfoys as I'm writing a fanfic about them, and I think that while being a Death Eater was extremely important to Lucius, he was also not the type to talk about it very much, especially to his son. I think this is about the Notts--I find them pretty interesting and unexplored characters, especially after J.K. Rowling said that Theodore is the son of an elderly widowed Death Eater. I picture them as being if possible, more serious and snotty than the Malfoys, but less ostentatious. Thanks for a thought-provoking story!

Author's Response: You think someone is more snotty than the Malfoys! Wow, that's pretty impressive. Thanks for the very kind review. :)

The Dark Lord's Blog by Schmerg_The_Impaler

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: What does Lord Voldemort do in his spare time? Well, that's an excellent question. Who would have known that the Dark Lord has a blog? (He also has a loyal following of readers, most of whom are Death Eaters and who post their comments.) Voldemort dispenses advice on everything from murder methods to germ protection to Power Rangers to shoes, and gives an account of the life of an evil overlord. But is he posting too much personal information online? And will Harry read it and find out more about the Dark Lord than Voldemort ever intended? Read and see.

WARNING: Extremely OOC behaviour from almost all.

More than a Woman by MorganRay

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Sexuality. I was always so proud of mine. Beauty. I never thought it harmful to be a lovely woman. Marriage. I didn't imagine the wedding bed would make me weak. When I was asked to stand for my blood and prove my worth, I failed. No, it was not because I was weak, but because I was Narcissa Malfoy: a woman.

creepy, sad, and in character...maybe since we now know Andromeda didn't die we can interpret it as some sort of illusion Voldemort gave her?

The Marauders by Lyra Lestrange

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Remus, Peter, Sirius, and James were best friends, but this didn't last forever. The story of the Marauder's summed up in a poem...
Reviewer: Rose Nym Signed
Date: 08/12/10 Title: Chapter 1: The Marauders

Amazing! It's a rhyming ballad, not heavy, but who says everything has to be? My only quibble is that Peter turns into a rat, not a mouse. Maybe its a typo.

Author's Response: Thanks! I guess I didn't really think about a mouse being different from a rat. I'll check out that typo.

The Mirror by Midnight_Unicorn

Für Das Größere Wohl by Tim the Enchanter

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Dieter Heydrich is a model German boy. He has perfect Aryan complexion, is an exemplary member of the Hitler Youth, and is fanatically loyal to his beloved Führer.

But on his eleventh birthday, Dieter discovers a hidden magical world led by an extraordinary wizard named Gellert Grindelwald…

Nominated for QSQ 2009, Best History/Mystery.
WINNER of QSQ 2009, Best Male Original Character.

Note: As you might have guessed, Für Das Größere Wohl is German, meaning: “For the Greater Good.” Yes, this story is from the perspective of the bad guys.

Fascinating! Very believable and captivating depiction of the Wizarding world under Grindelwald. I loved the dark ironic humor of the "Mudblood" and the "Untermensch" feeling exactly the same contempt and loathing towards each other, and the mysterious and suspenseful parts didn't fail to capture my attention.I also being the history buff that I am, loved this story in that department, too. In the words of JRR. Tolkien, I love history, rather real or feigned. Isn't it interesting how the wizarding world paralels our own in subtle ways even as it colides with it? I am definitely looking forward to more, but have a few small (hopefully constructive) comments to make. One is that there is a lot of German in this story. It does add to the atmosphere, but maybe including a translation right where it occurs instead of at the end would be a good idea. The time the guys were talking outside the Polish magic headquarters and about to disapparate, I didn't notice you're handy little asterik, and after making some guesses about a countdown, zipped over to Google translator, and in addition to decipherating the conversation, got distracted with the urge to waste time seeing what some phrases were in a gazilion different languages... So, needless to say, it interrupted the flow of the story. The only other thing is I'm not really sure where this story is headed. For the last, I don't know, few chapters maybe it seems to be dragging a little bit. Don't get me wrong, that duel with Karkaroff had me on the edge of my seat, it's just that the school stuff and the fueding seems to be carrying on a bit too long. I might feel differently if there was any character I could root for, but Dieter is a brat-albeit a fascinating character of a brat- and my ability to identify with him has gone down after he's gone completely psycho about going after Karkaroff. So far Ernst is really the only really likeable character in a positive way, to me. I hope Dieter has some sort of come-uppance and changes his ways. The teachers are all really good. Professor Schmidt subtly remind us of the differences between Hogwarts and Durmstrang. And Professor Simonov is just the cheesecake with ice cream on top and chocolate gushing down the sides, though I think my opinion might be different if I was his student. With both Muggle and Wizarding Germany in the grasp of fanatical dictatorships, this is a lot to hope for, but I still hope Dieter gets some sort of come-uppance and changes his ways. I wishyou the best of good fortune with the rest of this story, and I will await updates.

Finding the Magic by inspirations

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:

Arabella is a normal girl, from a normal wizarding family. A worry is constantly sitting on her stomach, though, and soon that worry has to be confirmed.

*Profanity minor, and one incident only*

A truly great story, and definitely one of my favorites of my favorites. I find the concept of Squibs fascinating but sad. Your story captures somewhat how I feel about reading Harry Potter and being a Muggle. ;) I thought it was appalling how Arabella's parents treated her, but I give them credit for trying. Knowing many wizarding families, it could have been much worse though. I feel the same way toward mistreatment of Squib children that I do about mistreatment of disabled children in real life--the ultimate failure in empathy.  I think you are a good writer (at least in this fic, I don't think I've read any of your others, but I probably will.) and this story really is full of great emotion and imagery. I really like much fanfiction about minor or unexplored characters that makes sense for the story's world and yours is one of the best examples of that I've read. The only thing in it that I remember not liking is Arabella's nickname "Bella." There are worse names, but to me Bella will probably always be the name of two certain characters I highly dislike, one because she's a b****, the other because she's a an utterly unrealistic idiot who gets everything she wants. (Guess which one Rowling didn't create?) Though I admit the movie "Bella" was okay...Sorry if my rambling is annoying. I would highly like it if you expanded this and wrote a sequel. That would be awesome!! Have a wonderful day! :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much :) I'm really pleased you enjoyed this, and I hope you have a good day too! xx

Moment I read this I started laughing really loud...My family looks at me wierd...I call my sister over to show her, and we sing it together, barely getting the words out because we're laughing so hard. this was like rictusempra or something, complete hilarity...I love Potterized versions of classic songs.

Winner of the 2010 QSQ for Best Canon Romance!

Date: 08/03/10 Title: Chapter 16: Wide Awake, It's Morning

The best thing about this fic is the characterizations-you've taken what J.K.R. has given us and filled in the blanks beautifully. Remus, Sirius, Peter, Severus, and of course, Lily and James are all written exactly as one would imagine the people who will become the ones we know later in the books. I've only read a few Marauder Era stories, but this is by far the best. The style of the writing is reminiscent of J.K.R.'s herself. Neither the comedy nor the romance is overdone, and the story makes you love Lily and James more.
I hate to criticize it at all, but I think (I could be wrong) that the "werewolf prank" happened before the "levitating Snape" incident. I hope not, because you've really well happening in the order you did.
Fantastic job!

Author's Response: you know, i wondered about that, but there are so many conflicting sources about when the werewolf thing happened--i've seen fifth and sixth year, sirius was 16, it's all over the place. i just kinda went for it in the end. but i'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much!!

beautiful and in character. I love Cho, I really do. (But I'm very glad she and Harry did not end up together)

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I like Cho as well and enjoyed writing this for her. She gets a bad rep in fanfiction. But like you, I don't think she and Harry worked well together at all. They're much better off with other people! Again, thanks for reading and reviewing!

My Favourite Things by KarasAunty

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Voldemort reflects on his rise, downfall and resurrection as the worst Dark Lord in history. Inspired by the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit of the same name from the film The Sound of Music.
Reviewer: Rose Nym Signed
Date: 08/09/10 Title: Chapter 1: My Favourite Things

Love it! I have memorized it now simply because its so much fun. The best potterized song of them all...And except for the fact that he's SINGING it, COMPLETELY in character, especially his choices of favorite things, and the fact that he cares so much about his favorite things, and basically thinks that life is all about his favorite things...

Author's Response:

Hello Rose Nym,

Voldemort is just the type to glory in his own sense of power, and the suffering he can bring to others with it. This song is more than likely far too short to list ALL of his favourite things - but we get the general idea anyway! Oh, if only he'd let his hair down now and then and give us all a tune. If only he HAD hair to let down ...

Delighted you enjoyed it so much, and thanks for R & R-ing,

M :)
